Abstract Introduction Organization survival is dependent on communications and managers spend a main portion of their time to establish communications. The identification, improvement and development of communication skills serve as the essential components of successful organizations. The present study aimed to investigate the role of communication skills in human resource productivity in north Iran.Method The study employed a cross-sectional design and was conducted in six deputies supervised by the Alborz University of Medical Sciences, in 2019. The statistical population included all 302 employees were selected as the sample population according to Cochran's formula. Using two researcher-made questionnaires of communication skills and human resource productivity, we assessed the role of communication skills in human resource productivity. Data were analyzed by implementing descriptive statistics including mean and standard deviation (SD), and analytical statistics such as Kolmogorov‐Smirnov, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficient, T-test and multivariate regression tests using SPSS 21 and P ≤ 0.05.Results According to research findings, there were significant relationships between communication skills including verbal skills, listening skills and effectiveness skills with human resource productivity P ≤ 0.05. There was a significant relationship between age group, gender, level of education and travel home-university distance with communication skills and resource productivity of employees P ≤ 0.05.Conclusion This study examines the role of communication skills in the promotion of human resource productivity who work in the administrative section of the University of Medical Sciences in Iran. Findings suggest that health planners and authorities may need to examine factors that contribute to the promotion of the communication skills for increase human resource productivity of employees and improved performance of health organizations.

Background: In today’s world as the globe of organizations, employees tend to show endeavor and more involvement in organizational goals and mission by creating workplace spirituality. Aim: The present study aimed to investigate the role of workplace spirituality in improving hospital social worker’s motivation. Methods: The study employed a cross-sectional design and was conducted in 19 private and governmental hospitals in Karaj city, Alborz province, north Iran in 2019. The statistical population included all 302 hospital social workers who were selected as the sample population according to Cochran’s formula. Using two standard questionnaires of workplace spirituality and employee motivation, we assessed the role of workplace spirituality in improving the hospital’ social workers’ motivation. Results: According to research findings, there were significant relationships between workplace spirituality, meaningful working, sense of community, forgiveness, and honesty with hospital social workers motivation p ⩽ .05. There was a significant difference between age group, gender, level of education and workplace spirituality, and motivation of hospital social workers p ⩽ .05. Conclusion: Findings suggest that health planners and authorities may need to examine factors that contribute to the promotion of workplace spirituality to increase the motivation of hospital social workers for improved performance of health organizations.

The present research was aimed to the study the relationship between talent management and organizational development and job motivation of the employees in educational, research, student, and cultural deputies of Bushehr University of medical sciences and health services. The method of this research was practical in terms of objectives, descriptive-correlational in terms of data collection method. The statistical population of the research was the entire employees in educational, research, student, and cultural deputies of Bushehr University of medical sciences and health services (consisted of 301 individuals) among whom 170 individuals were chosen as sample size using Morgan table and simple random sampling method. In order to collect data, the three standard questionnaires of Talent management of Oheley (2007), organizational development of Peter Lok and John Crawford (2001), and job motivation of Herzberg (1965) were used. In order to evaluate the reliability of the questionnaires, Cronbach’s alpha coefficient was used, and the value of this coefficient was higher than 0.7 for each of the questionnaires. For evaluation of the validity, the content validity was used, and for this regard, the questionnaires were confirmed by the related experts. The analysis of the obtained data was performed through SPSS software in two parts of descriptive and inferential (Kolmogorov-Smirnov test, Pearson correlation test and multiple regression). The research findings indicated that there is a positive and significant relationship between talent management and organizational development and job motivation of teachers.

Objective: The current study aimed to investigate the role of Emotional Regulation (ER) and resilience in predicting students' academic burnout. Methods: This was a descriptive correlational study. The statistical population of the study included all female secondary school students of the 10th-grade of the humanities and experimental sciences (N=305) in the second semester of 2018-2019 in Shabestar City, Iran. Accordingly, a sample of 100 individuals was selected by cluster sampling method. To collect the required data, the Academic Burnout Questionnaire (Breso et al., 1997), the Emotion Regulation Questionnaire (ERQ; Gross & John, 2003), and the Samuels' Academic Resilience Scale (2004) were used. Results: The collected data were analyzed using Pearson correlation coefficient and regression analysis methods. The obtained results indicated that ER and academic resilience explained 37% of the total variance of academic burnout in the examined students. The F-value indicated that the prediction of academic burnout was significantly based on ER and academic resilience in the study participants (P=0.001). Conclusion: As per the present study, the long-term planning to increase the explored variables will be an essential step in preventing students' academic burnout.

Background: Shyness is a main cause of poor results in the educational environment. The present study aimed at studying relationship between alexithymia (the inability to recognize or describe one’s own emotions) and shyness in nursing students, with mediating roles of loneliness and social identity. Methods: This descriptive-correlational study was based on structural equation modeling, specific regression equations, and a statistical population of 658 nursing students at Ahvaz University of Medical Sciences in 2018. A sample of 331 students was selected. To collect the data, Toronto’s Alexithymia Scale, Russell, Peplau and Cutrona’s Loneliness Scale, Safarinia’s Social Identity Questionnaire and Briggs, Cheek and Buss’ Shyness Scale were used. Results: The findings from regression analysis showed that there was a direct effect between alexithymia and shyness and an indirect effect between alexithymia and shyness with mediating factors of loneliness and social identity (P<0.01). In total, alexithymia, feelings of loneliness, and perception of social identity had a predictive power of 0.51% of shyness. Conclusion: The results of this study show the effect of alexithymia and the role of moderating influences on feelings of loneliness and social identity perceptions and shyness among nursing students, which can provide useful practical applications to advisers and trainers in order to improve the psychological state of nursing students.

The present study was conducted to "identify the impact of meritocracy on human resource productivity from the perspective of police academies". This research is a descriptive-survey research in terms of purpose and methodology. The statistical population of this study is all lecturers of Kabul Police Academy. Morgan table was used to determine the sample size, which according to the population of the sample required 121 people. The instrument or the device of this study is a complex questionnaire. The reliability of this questionnaire was confirmed by Cronbach's alpha coefficient of 0.85. SPSS software was used to analyze the data using regression analysis. The results of this study show that meritocracy has a significant effect on human resource productivity, it also the effect of meritocracy components (knowledge, consciousness, abilities, skills, attitudes, education, training, and retention) on productivity. Human resources are influential and the hypotheses are confirmed.

Introduction and Objectives: Appropriate relationships in society are shaped based on healthy and intimate rapports in families. Divorce is regarded as one of the most important sources of damage to families and marriages. This study aimed to design and test a model to investigate the effect of moral intelligence and early maladaptive schemas on emotional divorce considering the mediating role of marital burnout in women referring to psychological centers in Ahvaz, Iran. Materials and Methods: The statistical population of this descriptive-correlational study included all the women referring to psychological centers in Ahvaz, Iran, during 2019. In total, 264 individuals were selected using the convenience sampling method. The data were collected using an emotional divorce questionnaire, moral intelligence scale, early maladaptive schemas, and marital burnout questionnaire. Furthermore, the proposed model was evaluated using a path analysis method. A bootstrap test was utilized to test the indirect relationships. Pearson correlation coefficient and path analysis through AMOS software were employed to examine the relationships among the variables. Results: The results of this study showed the significance of all direct paths of the early maladaptive schemas with emotional divorce. Indirect pathways were also significant through marital burnout with emotional divorce (P<0.001). Conclusion: The proposed model indicated an acceptable fit level and was regarded as an important step in recognizing the effective factors in the emotional divorce of women. Moreover, it can be useful as a model to develop stress management programs and control increased emotional divorce among women.

Objectives Compliance with standards in designing information systems leads to better utilization and ease of use for users. In this study, the compliance of a widely used hospital information system (HIS) with ISO 9241 part 12 was assessed. Methods This applied research is a descriptive, cross-sectional study in which the HIS of 8 hospitals affiliated with Kerman University of Medical Sciences was evaluated based on ISO 9241 part 12. Data were collected by using ISO 9241/12 checklist. The data was analyzed in SPSS 16 using descriptive statistics. Results The analysis of data showed that the total compliance of the software with the ISO 9241/12 was 72%. The compliance of the software based on different groups of recommendations was 79% with Organization of information, 91% with Graphic objects, and 58% with Coding techniques. Compliance with different subgroups of ISO recommendations ranged from 28% related to “color coding” in coding techniques to 97% related to “General recommendation for graphical objects” in Graphic objects. Conclusion According to this study, the design of a widely used HIS has fairly good compliance with the standard but still suffers from some problems. Considering the role of accurate, valid and timely information in management of the hospitals, and the difficulty of system optimization after implementation, it is necessary that software developers follow existing standards when designing health information systems.

Psychological capital is one of the new concepts raised in positivism in psychology, which can play a major role in increasing one’s ability in different aspects of life, especially in spiritual well-being. Therefore, the present study aimed to investigate the relationship between the components of spiritual well-being and psychological capital of students at Kermanshah University of Medical Sciences, Iran in 2017. In this descriptive-correlational study, the statistical population consisted of 400 students at Kermanshah University of Medical Sciences, who were selected through cluster sampling. To collect the required data, a demographic questionnaire, the spiritual well-being scale (SWB) by Paloutzian & Ellison and the  Psychological Capital Questionnaire (PCQ) by Luthans were used. In addition, the data were analyzed using the SPSS Statistics Software Version 23.0. The results of the present study revealed that the mean scores of students' spiritual well-being and psychological capital measured 3.60 ± 0.49 and 3.55 ± 0.44, respectively. Further, the results of Pearson correlation coefficient indicated that the students' spiritual well-being and psychological capital positively and significantly correlated (r=0.42). According to the findings of the present study, the students’ spiritual well-being affects their psychological capital. So, it can be concluded that religious orientation and spirituality can promote the psychological capital of individuals, and this approach can be used to provide services relating to mental well-being.

Objective. Little research is available on the predictive factors of self-efficacy in college students. The aim of the present study is to examine the role of alexithymia, anxiety, and depression in predicting self-efficacy in academic students. Design. In a cross-sectional study, a total of 133 students at Babol University of Medical Sciences (Medicine, Dentistry, and Paramedicine) participated in the study between 2014 and 2015. All participants completed the Toronto Alexithymia Scale (TAS-20), College Academic Self-Efficacy Scale (CASES), and 14 items on anxiety and depression derived from the 28 items of the General Health Questionnaire (28-GHQ). Results. Pearson correlation coefficients revealed negative significant relationships between alexithymia and the three subscales with student self-efficacy. There was no significant correlation between anxiety/depression symptoms and student self-efficacy. A backward multiple regression analysis revealed that alexithymia was a negative significant predictor of self-efficacy in academic students (B=-0.512, P<0.001). The prevalence of alexithymia was 21.8% in students. Multiple backward logistic analysis regression revealed that number of passed semesters, gender, mother’s education, father’s education, and doctoral level did not accurately predict alexithymia in college students. Conclusion. As alexithymia is prevalent in college students and affects self-efficacy and academic functioning, we suggest it should be routinely evaluated by mental physicians at universities.
