Abstract Background: Dysphagia is one of the most common complications after anterior cervical spine surgery. The study aimed to evaluate the risk factors for dysphagia after anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF) with the Zero-P Implant System by multidimensional analysis and investigated the predictive values of these risk factors for dysphagia. Methods: A retrospective analysis of 260 patients who underwent ACDF with the Zero-P Implant System and had at least 2 year of follow-up ware performed. All patients were divided into a non-dysphagia group and a dysphagia group. Sex, age, body mass index (BMI), intraoperative time, estimated blood loss, diabetes mellitus, hypertension, smoking, alcohol consumption, prevertebral soft-tissue thickness, the levels of surgery, O-C2 angle, C2–7 angle, T1 slope and segmental angle were analyzed. Chi-square test and logistic regression were performed to analyze the predictive value of each dimension for dysphagia. Results: In total, the non-dysphagia group comprised 170 patients and the dysphagia group comprised 90 patients. Chi-square test results indicated that number of operated levels, operation time dT1 slope, dO-C2 angle, dC2–7 angle, segmental angle and dPSTT were associated with a high incidence of dysphagia. Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that number of operated levels, operation time, dC2–7 angle and dPSTT were significantly associated with postoperative dysphagia. Conclusions: Number of operated levels, operation time, dC2–7 angle and dPSTT were significantly associated with postoperative dysphagia. In additionally, sufficient preoperative preparation, evaluation combining with proficient and precise treatment measures are suggested to reduce the incidence of postoperative dysphagia when ACDF is performed.

Abstract Background: Thailand lacks evidence of the current prevalence of workplace violence (WPV) at tertiary hospitals. This study aimed to examine the prevalence of, perpetrators of, and factors associated with WPV against healthcare workers in excellent tertiary hospitals in Thailand. Methods: This was a mixed-methods study. A questionnaire was individually administered by an interviewer to 220 healthcare workers using a tablet with an online platforms, and the completion rate was 100%. The study was conducted from July 2018 to March 2019. Pearson’s chi-square test was used to examine the variables related to any violence according to individual and work data. Odds ratios with 95% confidence intervals were used to assess risk factors for exposure to violence using a logistic regression model. Thirty participants provided additional qualitative data that were used for thematic analysis. Results: The findings revealed that in the past 12 months, 63.6% of the participants experienced violence at their workplaces. The most common type of violence reported was verbal violence (56.4%), followed by physical violence (24.1%), bullying (16.4%), sexual harassment (4.1%), and racial harassment (3.6%). Multivariable logistic regression revealed that the correlates of violence at hospitals included being male (OR = 4.28, 95% CI 1.50–12.19), working in an outpatient department (OR = 2.55, 95% CI 1.42–4.58), and having direct contact with clients (OR = 3.12, 95% CI 1.25–7.73). The qualitative data revealed 5 major themes. Conclusion: There is a high prevalence of violence against all healthcare workers at excellent tertiary hospitals in Thailand. Policymakers need to be aware of the roots and risk factors for all types of WPV. The results could also contribute to the development of appropriate policies, interventions for conflicts based on intergenerational gaps, reporting, investigation processes, preventive measures, and zero-tolerance protocols for all healthcare workers.

Hookworms infection remains as an important parasitic infections affecting animal and human health worldwide. However, information on the prevalence and the risk factors of hookworm infection on dogs in Indonesia is very limited. A cross sectional study to estimate the prevalence and to identify risk factors of hookworms infection on dogs was conducted in rural area with different topography, Sukabumi Regency, Indonesia. A Total of 204 dog stool specimens were examined for hookworm eggs using simple flotation methods. The data of related risk factors namely type of topography area (high and low land), purpose of having dog, dog demography, dog reared management and deworming were collected through dog owners interview’s with completed a questionnaire. Those data were analyzed using the chi-square test (χ2) and logistic regression. The prevalence of hookworm on dogs in Sukabumi was 24.5 % (95% Confidence Interval [CI]=19.1-30.8). This prevalence was associated with topography of the area, the age of dog, and type of dog keeping methods. The prevalence of hookworms was higher in the high land area than low land area (OR=5.935, 95% CI=2.764-12.744 ). Logistic regression identified pupies as a high risk group to hookworms infection (OR= 2.041, 95%CI=1.035-4.055). The dog which kept in the cage/tied had higher risk than free roaming dog (OR=3.66, 95%CI=1.479-9.091).Key words: Dog, hookworms, prevalence, risk factors, Sukabumi.

Caesarean section (CS) has been on the rise worldwide and Bangladesh is no exception. In Bangladesh, the CS rate, which includes both institutional and community-based deliveries, has increased from about 3% in 2000 to about 24% in 2014. Rather than numerous impediments, cesarean conveyances are most basic among woman’s however it is not clinically advocated. For enhancing the maternal wellbeing status, it is basic to decide the risk components of cesarean conveyance. The primary focal point of this examination is to research and recognize the cesarean risk factors in the entire territory of Bangladesh. For this investigation, we have gathered auxiliary information from the Bangladesh Demographic and Health Survey (BDHS) 2014. This dataset has one record for every eligible woman as defined by the household schedule. It contains 17864 data which is collected in the woman's questionnaire plus some variables from the household. For the examination, a chi-square test was performed to identify the significant association between conveyance type (cesarean/non-cesarean) and socio-demographic and financial factor's individual. A binary logistic regression was completed to recognize the most effective factors on cesarean conveyance. We found that 5 factors (i.e respondent age, respondent highest education level, husband’s occupation, type of place of residence, wealth index) were measurably connected with conveyance type out of 13 chance elements. From this investigation, it is obvious to us that the above powerful factors may influences the mother's wellbeing status in Bangladesh.

Objective We explored the relationship between enuresis and obstructive sleep apnea–hypopnea syndrome (OSAHS) in children and influencing factors of enuresis with OSAHS. Methods We recruited 196 children ≥5 years old from the otolaryngology outpatient department, who experienced snoring and underwent nasopharynx lateral radiography and in-laboratory polysomnography. We analyzed correlations between the apnea–hypopnea index (AHI) and lowest oxygen saturation (L-SaO2) with age, body mass index (BMI), tonsil size, and adenoidal–nasopharyngeal (A/N) ratio using the Pearson correlation test. Differences in severe OSAHS prevalence, age, AHI, L-SaO2, tonsil size, and A/N ratio between children with and without enuresis were assessed using the chi-square test and t-test. Risk factors of enuresis were analyzed using logistic regression. Follow-up was conducted to assess remission in children with enuresis after adenotonsillectomy. Results BMI, tonsil size, and A/N ratio were correlated with AHI and L-SaO2. Severe OSAHS prevalence, AHI, tonsil size, and A/N ratio were higher and L-SaO2 were lower in children with enuresis. Logistic regression showed that BMI, AHI, tonsil size, and sleep apnea were risk factors for enuresis. Conclusions Our study findings showed that enuresis was associated with OSAHS in children. Adenotonsillectomy may improve the symptoms of enuresis.
