Abstract Background: Dyslipidemia is a factor that affects the occurrence and development of many chronic diseases. With its prevalence increasing each year, dyslipidemia has caused substantial disease and economic burdens in China and around the world. Appropriate health management is imperative for people with risk factors for dyslipidemia. We established a new model of health management services (integration of general practice and personalized disease prevention in health management, IGPDP) to more appropriately manage people with risk factors for dyslipidemia. Methods: The experiment was conducted in Shenyang, Liaoning Province, China. We selected 5 administrative districts with populations of more than 100,000. Twenty-three community health service centers with a daily average of more than 50 outpatients were selected. A total of 5,032 subjects with risk factors for dyslipidemia who met the inclusion criteria were included in this study. Using prospective cohort study methods, the subjects were followed up for 24 months. The subjects were randomly divided into the control and test groups, and they received traditional health management services or IGPDP. We analyzed and compared changes in disease prevention, health protection, and health promotion between the two groups. Results: In terms of disease prevention, we found that after the intervention, subjects' behavioral risk factors (smoking habits, diets, sedentary lifestyles) and health literacy improved. In terms of health protection, we observed a decrease in Body mass index (BMI), a gradual improvement in blood lipid levels, and an overall increase in quality of life scores. In terms of health promotion, after the intervention, the proportion of the subjects who were willing to accept the contracted services of general practitioners increased. Conclusion: IGPDP can effectively cultivate healthy lifestyles, improve health literacy, reduce biological risk factors, decrease risk of dyslipidemia, and improve quality of life of subjects. IGPDP is conducive to improving the quality of the service of general practitioners, increasing the trust of the general public, and facilitating the establishment of a hierarchical medical system.

Abstract Background: Dyslipidemia is a factor affecting the occurrence and development of many chronic diseases. With its prevalence increasing year by year, dyslipidemia has caused a huge burden of disease and economy in China and even the world. Appropriate health management is imperative for people with risk factors for dyslipidemia. However, the traditional health management service models mainly focus on the population with chronic diseases. Therefore, we need to establish new models of health management services to more appropriately manage people with risk factors for dyslipidemia. Methods: Among the 5 administrative districts with a population of more than 100,000 in Shenyang, 23 community health service centers with an average daily outpatient number of more than 50 were selected. A total of 5,032 subjects with risk factors for dyslipidemia who met the inclusion criteria were included in this study. Using prospective cohort study methods. The subjects were followed up for 24 months. They were randomly divided into control group and test group , and received integration of general practice and personalized disease prevention in health management (IGPDP) or traditional health management services, respectively. We analyzed and compared changes in disease prevention, health protection, and health promotion between the two groups at baseline, 12 months after the intervention, and 24 months after the intervention. Results: In terms of disease prevention, we found that after the intervention, participants' behavioral risk factors (smoking, diet, sedentary) improved and their health literacy improved. In terms of health protection, we observed a decrease in BMI (biological risk factor), a gradual improvement in blood lipid levels, and an overall increase in quality of life scores. In terms of health promotion, after the intervention, the proportion of the subjects willing to accept the contracted services of general practitioners increased. Conclusion: IGPDP can effectively cultivate healthy lifestyle of subjects, improve health literacy, reduce biological risk factors, reduce the risk of dyslipidemia, and improve subjects' quality of life. IGPDP is conducive to improving the service quality of general practitioners, the trust of the general public, and facilitating the establishment of a hierarchical medical system.

Abstract Chronic diseases of the population have been a global challenge for public health. Considered a new field of study, health literacy (LS) is the ability to obtain and understand basic health information and services needed to make health decisions. Worse outcomes, such as less control of chronic diseases, have been associated with LS. Thus, the objective of the study was to investigate the association of LS, clinical and behavioral conditions in patients with chronic non-communicable diseases (NCDs) users of the public health service in Brazil. It was a cross-sectional study, conducted from July to December 2019, with 238 adult users of the public health service, in a random sample, from 10 basic health units, in Piracicaba-SP, Brazil. A questionnaire was applied to obtain socioeconomic, behavioral, and LS data (Suka et al, 2013). The outcome was LS (high, medium and low) and the independent variables: CNCDs (diabetes, systemic blood pressure), clinical conditions (pressure, tooth loss, pain, visible plaque and insertion loss), behaviors (brushing, use of dental floss), determinants (type and frequency of service use) and self-perception (oral health and quality of life) in health. Descriptive statistical analysis was performed, and the Chi-Square test, based on a conceptual model adapted for LS (5% significance level). They had low levels of literacy 35.3% (n = 84), average 35.7% (n = 85), and high 29.0% (n = 69). Low LS levels were associated with older individuals, low education, less brushing and flossing, irregular use of dental services, edentulism, pain, loss of insertion, negative self-perception of oral health and quality of life, and better systolic blood pressure index. The results of this study show the association of LS with behavioral and clinical factors, showing an important role in the health-disease process in this population. LS should be considered in health promotion policies in future studies. Key messages Our study shows the importance of health literacy, and its association with health outcomes in individuals with chronic non-communicable diseases. Within the important global epidemiological panorama of chronic diseases, better understanding the role of LS is important, and it can collaborate with health promotion strategies for this population.

Abstract Background A variety of household chores expose women to a variety of biomechanical and psychosocial risk factors. A result of this is many housewives with musculoskeletal disorders. Given the interactive effects of these risk factors, it is necessary to consider multiple strategies to mitigate their effects. Accordingly, the present study will investigate the impact of a health promotion training program based on a participatory ergonomic approach towards a reduction in the prevalence of musculoskeletal disorders and an improvement in the quality of life of housewives. Methods Iranian housewives aged 20–65 years currently attending a specialist health clinic due to a painful musculoskeletal complaint will be invited to join the study. Recruitment will continue until a sample of 160 women provides informed consent to participate. The study will be conducted using a mixed-methods protocol in two phases. In the first phase, psychosocial and biomechanical risk factors will be identified using a qualitative approach. In the next phase, the results from the qualitative approach will be used to develop a conceptual framework based on health promotion theories and an intervention program based on a participatory ergonomic approach designed. Participants will be randomly allocated into one of four groups: (1) biomechanical intervention group, (2) psychosocial intervention group, (3) multidisciplinary intervention group (both biomechanical and psychosocial intervention), and (4) a control group. Data will be collected using Rapid Entire Body Assessment (REBA), Visual Analog Scale (VAS), Work Ability Score (WAS), Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS), and the 36-item Short-Form health survey (SF-36) at baseline in 3-month and 6-month follow-up assessments. The impact of the three interventions on musculoskeletal disorders, work ability, stress, and quality of life will then be evaluated. Discussion The study will provide a practical approach to reducing stress, reducing musculoskeletal disorders, enhancing the ability to work, and improving the quality of life of women with musculoskeletal disorders associated with housework. If the designed interventions in the present study are effective, they will have the great practical potential for generalization to all housewives. The Coronary Artery Disease in gENeral practiCE (CADENCE) study examined chronic stable angina (CSA). This further analysis examined atherosclerotic risk factors, symptomatic status, clinical management, and quality of life in patients with CSA with and without peripheral arterial disease (PAD). The CADENCE study involved 207 Australian general practitioners (GPs) recruiting 10 to 15 consecutively presenting patients with CSA (n = 2031). General practitioners completed a 2-page case report form, detailing demographic data, cardiovascular status, risk factors, and GP perception of control. Patients completed the Seattle Angina Questionnaire. Patients with coexisting CSA and PAD (17%) were more likely to be older and had more comorbidities than patients with CSA without coexisting PAD. Patients with peripheral arterial disease had a longer history of heart disease and were more likely to experience angina on a weekly basis. Patients with peripheral arterial disease had poorer quality-of-life indices.
