Abstract Geological disasters have caused enormous damage to human beings and the economy in China. Chinese government pay great effort on geological disaster relief. Usually, the efficiency of the disaster rescue is the first priority to be considered. Takeing the historical analysis of China's geological disaster rescue as the main line ,in this paper, we developed a slacks-based measure data envelopment analysis (SBM-DEA) model to evaluate the performance of 18 geological disasters relief during 2015–2019 in China, which are used to examine the performance of the geological disasters rescue activities. The results show that though the capabilities of geo-disaster relief is continuous improvement from 2015 to 2019, China’s geological disasters rescue system is still at the primary stage. Especially, the efficiency of landslide rescue operation is pretty low. We analysis the factors influencing the efficiency and provide several suggestions for capacity improvement of geo-disasters rescue.

Is Confucianism a religion? If so, why do most Chinese think it isn't? This book traces the birth and growth of the idea of Confucianism as a world religion. The book begins at Oxford, in the late nineteenth century, when Friedrich Max Müller and James Legge classified Confucianism as a world religion in the new discourse of “world religions” and the emerging discipline of comparative religion. The book shows how that decisive moment continues to influence the understanding of Confucianism in the contemporary world, not only in the West but also in China, where the politics of Confucianism has become important to the present regime in a time of transition. Contested histories of Confucianism are vital signs of social and political change. The book also examines the revival of Confucianism in contemporary China and the social significance of the ritual practice of Confucian temples. While the Chinese government turns to Confucianism to justify its political agenda, Confucian activists have started a movement to turn Confucianism into a religion. Confucianism as a world religion might have begun as a scholarly construction, but are we witnessing its transformation into a social and political reality? With historical analysis, extensive research, and thoughtful reflection, this book will engage all those interested in religion and global politics at the beginning of the Chinese century.

China is one of the most serious national which does harm to geological disasters, and the geological disasters have effect on China’s economy. Therefore, the effective evaluation for the economic losses caused by geological disasters has some reference value. This paper mainly introduces the geological disaster economic losses structure drawing and evaluated methods which include human capital method, shadow valuation method, market valuation method, investigation appraisal method and coefficient of proportionality method, and analyzes different economic losses should adopt different appraisal method. And take the Qianjiangping landslide for instant, this paper introduces how to evaluate landslide disasters economic loss. The idea and method have certain guiding significance to geological disaster economic losses evaluation.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to explore the contribution of logistics service providers’ (LSPs) initiatives to disaster relief and how LSPs are engaged with humanitarian sector. In recent years, the importance of logistics services in disaster relief operations and the capacity of LSPs to improve humanitarian supply chain management have become an increasingly interesting topic for both professionals and academics. Design/methodology/approach This research follows a qualitative approach based on multiple case studies. Findings The current research, after considering the differences and similarities among collaboration, cooperation and coordination and underlining how crucial these mechanisms are in the humanitarian context, explains the contribution of LSPs to relief operations alongside humanitarians. Research limitations/implications There has been increased interest in humanitarian logistics on the part of international academic and professional communities. This study constitutes a first exploratory step in the research to build a platform for benchmarking analysis of logistics services that aims to ensure the effective implementation of social responsibility principles. Practical implications The managerial implications arising from the research offer a range of current responsible actions from which strategic and operative directions to contribute can be derived. Originality/value Humanitarian logistics represents a crucial field in logistics management. This paper addresses the innovative socially responsible initiatives undertaken by the main international LSPs in the area of humanitarian logistics.

Xingguo County is located in the middle and low hilly mountainous areas. The area of the landslide, collapse and debris flow geological disasters is large. The sudden geological disasters such as landslides and mudslides caused by heavy rainfall are increasing year by year. This study mainly used high-altitude aerial imagery (0.5m) and Landsat 8 OLI satellite imagery covering Xingguo County as the data source, carried out remote sensing interpretation of geological environment background conditions and geological disasters in the whole area, and carried out on-site verification. At the same time, the correlation between the stratigraphic structure, topography and other factors in the study area and the spatial distribution characteristics of geological disaster points are discussed. The results show that: (1) based on remote sensing image interpretation of 377 geological disaster points; 83 landslide points, 229 hidden danger points, 17 collapse points, 26 hidden danger points, 1 hidden danger point, ground collapse point 1 At 20 places in the geological environment. (2) From the results of remote sensing interpretation, the types of geological disasters in the work area are mainly landslides and landslide hazards (including collapse type), and there are fewer collapses, collapses and debris flow hazards, and most landslide hazard points are unstable. (3) From the distribution of geological disasters, it is mainly within the scope of artificial influence. The construction of excavation slopes on the roads leads to instability of the slopes and induces disasters under the influence of rainfall. In addition, there are a large number of artificial mining mines in the work area. These places are also prone to geological disasters due to unreasonable mining and subsequent prevention and control work. (4) Areas with strong human activities, areas near the fault structure and water system roads are the main influencing factors for geological disasters in the work area.

In view of the inaccuracy of the traditional correlation analysis method, this paper proposes a correlation analysis method between the multifractal characteristics of regional landforms and the development of geological disasters. Firstly, the multifractal characteristics of regional landforms are described by using the basic fractal characteristics of self-similarity or scale invariance. Then the corresponding relation table is established according to the width of the fractal spectrum and the number of landslides and hidden dangers, and the spatial relationship of geological disaster development is analyzed. Combined with the above-mentioned spatial relationship of geological disaster development and the multifractal characteristic data of regional landforms, the correlation coefficient between the two is calculated to complete the correlation analysis between the multifractal characteristics of regional geomorphology and the development of geological disasters. The experimental results show that compared with the traditional correlation analysis method, the correlation analysis results of the multifractal characteristics of regional geomorphology and the development of geological disasters are more accurate.

In the process of national economic mobilization, the logistics system usually suffers from negative impact and/or threats of such emergency events as wars and accidents, which implies that adaptability of the logistics system directly determines realization of economic mobilization. And where the real-time rescue operation is concerned, heavy traffic congestion is likely to cause a great loss of or damage to human beings and their properties. To deal with this situation, this article constructs a blocking-resistance optimum model and an optimum restructuring model based on blocking flow theories, of which both are illustrated by numerical cases and compared in characteristics and application. The design of these two models is expected to eliminate or alleviate the congestion situation occurring in the logistics system, thus effectively enhancing its adaptability in the national economic mobilization process.
