Many consider tools for plant-based irrigation management methods to be the most precise way to manage irrigation in either a research or a commercial settings. Although many types of tools are available, they all measure some aspect of water movement along the soil–plant–atmosphere continuum. This article presents some of the more commonly used tools and the methods involved to properly employ them. In addition, recent literature is reviewed to provide context to the methods themselves and also to highlight each one’s specific advantages and disadvantages. Ultimately, there is no clear winner or “best” tool as all have disadvantages, either due to prohibitive cost, the amount of data output, the difficulty of data interpretation, lack of signal resolution, or lack of dynamic ability to provide decision support. Therefore, we conclude that the user should carefully weigh these varied advantages and disadvantages in the context of their production goals before deciding on a given tool for irrigation management.

Abstract. Quantifying the impact of land use on water supply and quality is a primary focus of environmental management. In this work we apply a semidistributed hydrological model (SWAT) to predict the impact of different land management practices on water and agricultural chemical yield over a long period of time for a study site situated in the Arborea region of central Sardinia, Italy. The physical processes associated with water movement, crop growth, and nutrient cycling are directly modeled by SWAT. The model simulations are used to identify indicators that reflect critical processes related to the integrity and sustainability of the ecosystem. Specifically we focus on stream quality and quantity indicators associated with anthropogenic and natural sources of pollution. A multicriteria decision support system is then used to develop the analysis matrix where water quality and quantity indicators for the rivers, lagoons, and soil are combined with socio-economic variables. The DSS is used to assess four options involving alternative watersheds designated for intensive agriculture and dairy farming and the use or not of treated wastewater for irrigation. Our analysis suggests that of the four options, the most widely acceptable consists in the transfer of intensive agricultural practices to the larger watershed, which is less vulnerable, in tandem with wastewater reuse, which rates highly due to water scarcity in this region of the Mediterranean. More generally, the work demonstrates how both qualitative and quantitative methods and information can assist decision making in complex settings.

The determination of volumetric water content of soils is an important factor in irrigation management. Among the indirect methods for estimating, the time-domain reflectometry (TDR) technique has received a significant attention. Like any other technique, it has advantages and disadvantages, but its greatest disadvantage is the need of calibration and high cost of acquisition. The main goal of this study was to establish a calibration model for the TDR equipment, Trase System Model 6050X1, to estimate the volumetric water content in a Distroferric Red Latosol. The calibration was carried out in a laboratory with disturbed soil samples under study, packed in PVC columns of a volume of 0.0078m³. The TDR probes were handcrafted with three rods and 0.20m long. They were vertically installed in soil columns, with a total of five probes per column and sixteen columns. The weightings were carried out in a digital scale, while daily readings of dielectric constant were obtained in TDR equipment. The linear model θν = 0.0103 Ka + 0.1900 to estimate the studied volumetric water content showed an excellent coefficient of determination (0.93), enabling the use of probes in indirect estimation of soil moisture.

Nusa Network Prakarsa. Kata Kunci: Pemilihan Vendor, Profile Matching, Sistem Pendukung Keputusan. AbstractSelecting the right supplier or vendor among existing suppliers is an important issue for top management. The process of determining vendor at PT. GemaGrahaSarana, Tbk is done manually, which begins with the collection of information through the presentation of each potential vendor. After that conducted a leadership meeting to discuss the advantages and disadvantages of each vendor. Company leadership meeting using the voting system so that way is considered still less objective and did not rule out the assessment is done subjectively. Nowadays, technology has been developed in all fields, one of them is technology in determining decision making, therefore to assist in solving the problem it is necessary to do an approach by using a method of decision support system of one of them by using method matching profile with stages that is Determining Criteria , Gap Mapping Calculation, Weighting, Calculation of Core Factor and Secondary Factor, Total Value Period, and Calculation for Determining Ranking. The purpose of this research is to determine the suitable vendors to be able to provide server and network maintenance services as needed. So from these stages obtained a decision to select a vendor who will be invited to work together in doing maintenance work server and network by choosing PT. Nusa Network Prakarsa. Keywords: Vendor Selection, Profile Matching, Decision Support System.

In the last few years in the world of auctions, electronic auctions become a hot topic for discussion, especially in Indonesia. In Indonesia, the auction has been using online electronic system since 2007 with all its advantages and disadvantages. This system is one of a fairly successful program in a good governance. Until now, there are 620 government agencies in Indonesia have been using this electronic procurement systems[19]. The Government can perform a budget efficiency nearly 5% of the total budget by using today's electronic procurement system. The current system is good enough, but there are still some deficiencies found. Some of solutions to cover the deficiency offered in this paper. Starting from the classification of goods or services according to the UNSPSC, applying business classification with ISIC Indonesia in 2009, recording the activity of vendors for consideration decision, and implementing a decision support system using AHP to facilitate the auction committee to determine the winner. All of above matters are intended to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the current system.

From an environmental, economic, social, and technical perspective, this chapter focuses on a sustainability assessment of concepts for the energetic use of biomass in order to provide decision support for different options of biomass use. In rural areas, bioenergy concepts are of particular interest in this context. These can for example be biogas plants which are operated by electric service providers, or a biogas plant owned by one farmer, or bioenergy villages. The topic relates to the development of suitable criteria and to the adaption of existing indicator systems to the special requirements of sustainable biomass use for energy. The results of this sustainability assessment consider the different biomass concepts’ advantages and disadvantages, which are illustrated by multi-criteria valuation methods. Furthermore, the sustainability assessment of bioenergy concepts has specific requirements with regard to an information system in terms of data and information’s demand and supply side.
