The year 2019 saw the emergence of COVID-19, an infectious disease spread through human-to-human transmission. This resulted in the immediate worldwide suspension of contact classes as countries tried to contain the wide spread of the pandemic. Consequently, educational institutions were thus left with only one option: e-learning. E-learning is the delivery of learning experiences through the use of electronic mail, the internet, the world wide web, and it can either be synchronous or asynchronous. Through the translanguaging lens, this chapter reports on a qualitative study that sought to explore the crucial role language plays in the e-learning of multilingual science students at a secondary school in South Africa. The e-learning lessons were in the form of videos, multilingual glossaries, and narrated slides in English and isiZulu languages. Data was collected through lesson observations and interviews held via Microsoft Teams. This chapter suggests numerous cognitive and socio-cultural benefits of multilingual e-learning pedagogy and recommends its use in education.

Effective communication of horticultural information over long distances requires the ability to present and receive not only text-based information but also images, sounds, and live-action video. Until recently, the Internet enabled users to communicate in each of these four modes, but not simultaneously. However, as a result of the World-Wide Web (WWW) project and the creation of NCSA Mosaic software, Internet users are able to access and deliver practically any form of communication, as long as it can be digitized. Information from around the world on literally thousands of subjects is now available 24 hours a day. Opportunities to communicate with the general public, primary and secondary science students, or practicing horticulturists are no longer limited by publication delays, travel distances, or media limitations.

All forms of quotations that the author lists in his writing need to include citations and references. Through the use of citation applications, the author is facilitated with bibliographic data banks and the inclusion of bibliography. This study outlines the behavior of 49 people using the citation application for 2018 Unpad Communication Science students in Master of Communication Science. The results of the study show that only half of the total number of students who have been active uses citation applications. Mendeley is the most widely used citation application compared to other citation applications. The main reason other students have not used the citation application is the need for mentoring and they are accustomed to listing citations manually. Nearly some of them started using the citation application recently, namely when taking master lectures and suggested by lecturers in the class. While the difficulties felt by students at the beginning of the use of citation applications. The study also revealed the advantages and disadvantages of the application used, as well as suggestions and expectations of students regarding the use of citation applications. Mendeley as the most used citation application is considered easy after being used frequently, can save downloaded article files, automatically reads the metadata of files uploaded in Mendeley, and can search for references that already exist on the Internet through Mendeley. But the disadvantage is that users need to understand the need for paraphrasing and writing capitalization of metadata in the required citation styles, requiring internet access for data synchronization, and frequent errors. While the suggestions and expectations related to the use of this citation application include the need to schedule training and assistance in the use of intensive citation applications at the beginning of the lecture and the need for students to get used to using the citation application.

Digital literacy can be used as a means of learning because the millennial era currently has digital sources of information that are liked by the public. Information technology-based learning materials are very easy to find and download in digital form and download free of charge so that people in various circles are very easy to get the information needed, as well as students. Universitas Terbuka which organizes an education system remotely, teaching materials which are the main learning materials apart from being provided in printed form, is also developed in digital form. Learning aid materials in the form of online tutorials and web tutorials (tuweb) is also in digital form because online tutorials and tuweb to access them must be connected to the internet. The spread of information in digital form requires knowledge or the ability to find or use these digital information sources. Researchers raised problems about digital literacy in distance learning, especially students of the Library Science Study Program, FHISIP-UT. The research method used is quantitative with the addition of qualitative data. The results showed that the Open University students, especially the Library Science students of FHISIP-UT, already have the ability to terms of digital literacy. Because we often and always use a PC / Laptop at home or office, use a cellphone/smartphone/tablet, and use the internet.

The issue of the study. The alterations in society and development of technologies require a new approach to teaching and training aids. Modern information systems and technologies are promoted teaching and learning different subjects at all levels. Along the increase of information technology importance and impact, the educational and teaching system, its major alteration and spread of new training aids becomes an underlying field of society building. It frames a question of the study dealing with how the would-be teachers of sciences adopt and most frequently use electronically-based training aids. The goal of research. The goal of research is to establish the types of electronically-based training aids and information sources used by the science students. Methods of research. The object of research is the employment of electronically-based training aids and information sources used by the science students. Research was conducted applying the methods of reference analysis, surveying and mathematical statistics. The students studying physics, chemistry and biology participated in the survey. Two targeted groups were formed the first of which included 250 a first university degree (a Bachelor’s degree studies, 1st, 2nd and 3rd year of studies) and the second one - 105 a second university degree (a Master’s degree studies) students. Results of research. During the studies, the science students most frequently apply the electronically-based paper databases while the databases of research data and scientific articles are rarer. The students regularly search the Internet to work with the required lecture syllabi, computer-based dictionaries and reference books. The findings indicate that the above mentioned training aids cannot be adopted by almost one fifth of the surveyed higher school students. The students feel lack of information on traditional training aids placed in the electronically-based sources. Qualitative research further revealed the qualities of traditional and electronically-based training aids. The electronically-based training aids are more effective in retrieving and adopting information. The traditional training aids are not supposed to be very efficient and visually perfect. Moreover, the Internet rather than the course books presents more precise and up-to-date data. The traditional training aids are more comfortable, user-friendly and adjusted to making marks with a pencil. Keywords: electronically-based training aids, databases
