By analyzing the points of construction process quality control in the building construction project and the relationship among quality control, cost control and schedule control, the main factors affecting the construction process quality control in the building construction project are given out, and a practical system is established. This system includes pre-construction quality planning, quality control, drawings reviewing technical tests, building products quality control, responsibility for quality and other aspects. The practical application of this system in some building construction projects proved its effectiveness in the project quality control.

Quality management systems are being operated in almost all sectors for products and services in the present time. In the construction sector quality control and quality assurance are of great concern for the construction project managers as the poor quality of construction results in early defects and failure of the structure this lowers the reputation of the company and leads to heavy repair costs. Further extra expenditure in achieving quality control and quality assurance is compensated by the advantages gained in the form of less maintenance, better quality and effective utilization of construction resources. There are many problems in applying the quality management effectively in construction due to its typical nature. There is a need to evaluate the effectiveness of quality management system (QMS) in construction projects. In the present work an effort is made to assess the quality management and quality assurance practices awareness and implementation among the construction personnel involved in building construction. A questionnaire containing questions related to quality control and quality assurance aspects of building construction is prepared and send to the construction personnel in Gwalior and nearby cities of Madhya Pradesh, India.

In construction projects, reinforcing iron is a very important material in the implementation of construction work. The remaining iron material cannot be avoided in the field, so the figure for the remaining unused material affects the costs incurred by the contractor. Given that iron material is one of the materials with a high price on the market. One solution to reduce the amount of remaining iron material is to optimize iron cutting to get the number of pieces as needed with minimal cutting. The method used is Linear Programming with the help of the Solver Add-In program in Microsoft Excel. The research was conducted on a 3-storey building construction project, namely Puskesmas Kampung Dalam, Kab. Padang Pariaman. Works that reflect iron work on the upper and lower structures. The analysis results were obtained from 7.31% and cost Rp. 27.067.887,-.  for the ironworks reviewed. So that the use of the Linear Programming method in the case study of this research is able to optimize the remaining iron material quite well and produce minimum remaining reinforcing iron.

PurposeThis research aims to propose a comparative environmental analysis of conventional and prefabricated construction techniques utilizing a building information modelling (BIM) technique.Design/methodology/approachA set of indicators are selected to assess the environmental emissions throughout the construction life cycle, based on BIM platform. An existing project involving ten apartment buildings in Shanghai is selected as a case study.FindingsThe results reveal that prefabricated construction demonstrates environment-friendly performance with some exceptions of acidification and mineral resource consumption. Environmental impacts can also be further reduced by increasing the projected area ratio and percentage of project prefabrication.Originality/valueOverall, the proposed method can be used to identify relevant environmental merits and for decision-making of appropriate construction techniques in building construction projects.

Baseline observation as well as height measurement is the important content of the quality control of high-rise building construction. In order to strengthen the quality of construction projects, meet the requirement of completion time, improve the accuracy and efficiency  of  locating observation  and  explore  a scientific way of observation suitable for high-rise building construction, this paper studies the design and implementation of high-rise building construction based  on  GPS  positioning technology.

The research aimed to find out and analyze the main causes of delay in construction projects. Just as so how most things are; an unforeseen delay on a construction site is inevitable. The research was designed to identify the possible causes of delay at construction projects from the literature review and previous studies which there are over than thirty causes of delay were displayed, then these causes tested by the analyzing the data and information that were collected from clients, consultants and contractors, researcher conduct site visits to interpretation the causes of delay that emerged during the implementation of the project. The analysis of correspondences letters between project parties; contractor, client, and consultant lead to characterize investigate are project finance, design changes, fluctuation of prices and incomplete design. The research defines who is responsible and type of delay in addition to the discussion of effects, risks, and mitigating of delay. Finally the research concluded with Recommendations such as security funding for the project at the project preparation stage, the contractors should be classified according to the experience which commensurate with the size of the project, The application of value engineering to avoid in complete design problems , it’s also strongly recommended future researchers to focus on building construction projects in other parts of the country since this was limited only to the capital city Khartoum through the case study.
