The use of recombinant tuberculosis allergen (ATR) expands the possibilities of detecting tuberculosis. Nevertheless, the issue of the predictive value of the ATR test for assessing the result of tuberculosis therapy remains insufficiently studied.Purpose. Тo clarify the information content of changes in the results of a test with a recombinant tuberculosis allergen against the background of chemotherapy for tuberculosis in children.Materials and methods. We used the data of patients with active tuberculosis aged 0 to 14 years who were hospitalized. The main group in the study (1st) included 280 children with a pronounced reaction to ATR, the comparison group (2nd) consisted of 42 children with a moderate, mild and doubtful reaction to ATP at the time of tuberculosis detection.Results. After 6 months from the beginning of the intensive phase of tuberculosis treatment, a hyperergic reaction to the administration of ATR was diagnosed in 74 (38.7%) children of the 1st group and 4 (16.7%) children of the 2nd group (p = 0.025). A twofold decrease in the sample size was observed in children of the 1st group (121 children – 63.4%) than the 2nd (7 children – 29.2%) (χ2 = 8.97, p = 0.003; OR = 4.198; 95% CI 1.66–10.62). The increase in the sample is 2.9 times higher in children of the 2nd group (44 children – 23%) than in children of the 1st (χ2 = 20.17, p = 0.000).Conclusions. The extinction of sensitivity to the ATR test after specific therapy is 2 times higher in children who initially had a pronounced reaction. In the same group, a hyperergic reaction to the sample often persists or occurs after the intensive phase of anti-tuberculosis therapy.

This study examines the expression of selflessness – the tendency to ignore one’s own needs and serve others’ needs – in Rorschach protocols of women suffering from anorexia nervosa. The protocols of 35 women suffering from anorexia nervosa were compared to 30 protocols of a psychiatric comparison group. A multivariate analysis of variance over five variables (AG, PER, PHR, COP, and GHR) was significant: Anorexic patients showed higher characteristics of selflessness compared to the psychiatric comparison group. These findings contribute to the validation of the Rorschach technique and to the clinical observation of selflessness in anorexic patients, and they emphasize specific characteristics in the treatment of anorexia nervosa patients.

Cough is one of the most common reasons why parents bring their children to the pediatrician. The article presents the results of a study of the clinical efficacy of treatment of dry cough using Sinecod syrup. A total of 60 children aged 3–15 years with the upper respiratory tract infections and complaints of dry (non-productive) cough were enrolled in the study. In Group 1 (the main group), the children received Sinecod syrup in addition to the standard therapy, in Group 2 (the comparison group) children received Stoptussin-Phyto syrup. The effectiveness of treatment was evaluated based on the clinical examination findings. On Day 8–11 after the first examination, Group 2 showed a decrease in the severity of day and night cough according to VAS by more than 4 points compared with Group 2. Significant regression of the severity of day and night cough in the studied groups was only observed in patients from Group 1. Sleep disorders of the patients normalized.

Background: Depression is a complicated disturbance affected by a collection of biological and environmental factors. The first aim of psychiatric studies is to recognize biological markers that could be utilized to predict improvement and increase reactions to antidepressant treatments. Diet affects different aspects of health, including depression. The aim of study was to determine antidepressant-like effects of some consumable oils, the effects of oils on depression were compared. Methods: Thirty-two male and female mice (Mus musculus (BALB/c)) weighing 25- 35 g were randomly divided into 8 groups (4 mice in each group, 2 male and 2 female, A: Laden sunflower liquid oil, B: 50% vegetable oil + 50% olive oil, C: Kermanshah Rojin animal oil, D: Spring frying oil, E: Distilled water, F: BAHAR solid vegetable oil, G: Olive oil, H: 50% Kermanshah animal oil + 50% of olive oil). In different groups, 30 g of vegetable or animal oil was gavaged every day at 1:00 pm. Five types of vegetable and animal oils among the high consumption oils in the market were selected, including spring frying oil (used for several times in 305˚f, usually used in eastern Asia countries), Laden sunflower liquid oil, olive oil, Kermanshah Rojin animal oil, and BAHAR solid vegetable oil. After 6 weeks of using the oils diet, the forced swim test was utilized as a test of depression like behavior. Results: There was a significant difference between all groups (P < 0.0001). Based on the results, the latency time of immobility in group A significantly decreased in comparison with groups C (P ˂ 0.02), D (P ˂ 0.003), and G (P < 0.001). However, it increased in groups B and C compared to group H (P ˂ 0.02). Also, this parameter in group D increased significantly compared to groups E (P < 0.01), F (P < 0.05), and H (P < 0.002). Conclusion: The results indicated that olive oil had a preventive effect against forced swimming-induced depression-like symptoms.

Objective. To estimate the immediate and late results of surgical treatment in patients, suffering peripheral cholangiocarcinoma with invasion of visceral vein. Маterials and methods. Retrospective analysis was accomplished for surgical treatment of 84 patients, suffering peripheral cholangiocarcinoma, in whom radical operations were performed in Department of Transplantation and Hepatic Surgery of Shalimov National Istitute of Surgery and Transplantology in a period from Jan. 2004 tо Dec. 2018 yrs. The investigated group consisted of 28 patients, to whom hepatic resection with simultant resection and plasty of visceral veins for tumoral vascular invasion was performed. Into comparison group 56 patients were included, in whom hepatic resection was not accompanied with vascular resection. Results. Trustworthy differences were absent between groups in accordance to following indices: the patients’ age (p=0.16-0.7), gender (p=0.3), physical status (p=0.36), pre- and postoperative stationary stay (p=0.4). In the investigated group there were performed 14.3% hemihepatectomies, 32.1% extended hemihepatectomies and 53.6% threesectioectomies, and in a comparative one - 57.2% (р ≤ 0.001), 14.3% (р = 0.054) and 21.4% (р = 0.002), accordingly. Simultant intervention on biliary ducts was done in 37.5% patients from investigated group and in 25% patients from comparative group (р = 0.305), the adjacent organs resection - in 14.3 and 12.5% (р = 0.819) patients, accordingly. Clinically significant postoperative complications were observed in 25 and 30.4% (р = 0.262) patients, accordingly. In the investigated group postoperative mortality was absent, while in a comparative one it constituted 3.5%. In the investigated group a 3-years and a 5-years total survival was noted in 47 and 35% patients, accordingly, while in a comparison group - in 49% (р = 0.317) and 38% (р = 0.003) patients, accordingly. In investigated group a 3-years and a 5-years survival without a recurrence was noted in 39 and 28% patients, accordingly, and in a comparative group - in 44% (р = 0.04) and 31% (р=0.002) patients, accordingly. Conclusion. Іnvasion of peripheral cholangiocarcinoma into visceral veins does not constitute a contraindication for operative treatment, if it is conducted in a highly specialized multidisciplinary centre.

This study aimed to measure the influence of the Chefs in Action program (3 cooking workshops) on cooking skills, nutrition knowledge, and attitudes towards healthy eating in children attending summer day camps and compare it with a single cooking workshop. Groups of children (8–12 years) were randomly assigned to the intervention group (n = 25) or to 1 of 3 comparison groups performing a single workshop (group 1, n = 16; group 2, n = 36; group 3, n = 24). Two dietitians evaluated cooking skills during the workshops. Nutrition knowledge and attitudes towards healthy eating were assessed before and after the intervention. No improvement in cooking skills was observed in the intervention group (P = 0.25). The intervention group’s cooking skills score was significantly higher than comparison group 1 (P < 0.001). Nutrition knowledge was significantly improved in the intervention group and the comparison group 3 (P < 0.0001) but no effect on attitudes towards healthy eating was observed (Pgroup × time = 0.36). In conclusion, the Chefs in Action program positively impacted nutrition knowledge in children. The results also suggest that the type of recipe may influence nutrition knowledge and cooking skills. Further studies are needed to better assess the degree of difficulty required in cooking workshop recipes to improve cooking skills in children.

31 Background: CPIs have been established as essential components of cancer immunotherapy across multiple cancer types with proven clinical benefit, improved outcomes, and less toxicity. Studies in lung and head and neck cancers found that low ALC, a marker of immune exhaustion, was associated with poor response to CPIs and worse progression-free survival. We explored the effect of pALC and pNLR on CPI response rates in patients with RCC and BC. Methods: We retrospectively reviewed every RCC and BC patient that received CPIs at Overton Brooks VA Medical Center and LSUHSC-S between 2015 and 2019. Patients’ pALC and pNLR were calculated. The patients were divided according to pALC into 2 groups: Group A with pALC > 1000 and Group B with pALC < 1000. Similarly, using NLR’s established upper normal limit of 3, 2 groups were created: Group 1 with pNLR < 3 and Group 2 with pNLR > 3. Our primary outcome of interest was defined as the presence or absence of CPI response. Patients who attained stable disease, partial response, and complete response were categorized as responders. Those who progressed on CPIs were labeled as non-responders. The significance of the association between pALC and pNLR groups and the occurrence of any response was analyzed statistically. Results: Twenty patients (13 RCC, 7 BC) were treated with CPIs and had documented responses. Twelve patients had pALC > 1000 (Group A) whereas 8 patients had pALC < 1000 (Group B). Both groups were comparable with respect to age, sex, race, and types of CPIs. Group A had a significantly higher response rate (75% vs 25%, p = 0.027). As to pNLR, 10 patients had pNLR < 3 (Group 1) and another 10 patients had pNLR > 3 (Group 2). Patients with pNLR > 3 had worse response rates to CPIs compared to those with pNLR < 3 (30% vs 80%, p = 0.024). Conclusions: This is the first report from a real-world clinical setting to show a detrimental association between pALC < 1000 and pNLR > 3 and CPI response rates in a retrospective cohort of consecutive non-selected kidney and bladder cancer patients. This association and its clinical utility require further confirmation in a prospective larger cohort.
