Palavras-chave: Filosofias da diferença; Ensino da arte; Biografemática; Educação ABSTRACTThis text will approach some experimentations we have developed in higher education with groups of undergraduate and graduate students. Our challenge has been: how to alternate theory and practice in a way that these instances do not happen apart from each other? To do so, we have sought to overlap them so that they happen concomitantly. These experimentations have occurred as elaborations of practice projects, in the classes of the supervised teaching practice, where teacher candidates are responsible for a school group or other. Equally, as far as research procedures are concerned, Master’s dissertations and PhD theses are also operated through this alternation and concomitance. To the accomplishment of this writing, a theoretical-conceptual bibliographic study has been developed with authors aligned with the theoretical basis of the philosophies of difference. Hence, we sought for the depersonalization of authors to speak of a life written by crossings and encounters, i.e. to think life as the very own elaboration of text, a biographematic writing, as Roland Barthes proposes. This way we started composing, with the experienced, the readings, the speeches in the encounters and the visualities, the notes, and through this materiality we wrote this text. Keywords: Philosophies of difference; Art teaching; Biographematics; Education

Of considerable importance in Plato and Aristotle’s educational outlook on the arts was Homer’s Iliad. This paper draws out some of the perceived weaknesses and strengths of this epic poem as it relates to the arguments in Plato’s Republic and Aristotle’s Poetics. I will attempt to do justice to Plato and Aristotle’s differing perspectives on the Iliad and their critique of art educational theory and practice. I will show why two philosophers with very different thinking on art education can still significantly affect art teaching practice today.

As a testing ground for theory and practice transition, teaching practice is a key element of teacher training process. One way to ensure that teacher candidates are acquiring and practicing critical teaching skills is to provide feedback through reflective practice during the student teaching. However, it should be beyond the helpful prescriptions in order for student teachers to develop their own teaching philosophies. For this reason, this study focuses on the growing trend toward cooperative models of student teaching supervision: the clinical supervision model (CSM). The study reports on the student teachers' perceptions on professional development with regard to the feedback they receive (direct or indirect). Twelve ELT student teachers contributed to the study and the data was collected via an open-ended and a closed-ended questionnaire, researchers' field-notes and video-taped reflection sessions. The data analysis revealed that although having varying degrees of abstraction, most of the student teachers had positive perceptions regarding indirect feedback during CSM.

The current study assessed the effectiveness of interactive computer-assisted instruction software in reducing subsequent errors in scoring the WISC–III. Errors in scoring from 84 protocols of graduate students presented with this software simulation as part of their initial training were compared with errors in scoring from 77 protocols of graduate students without such training. These were different sets of students matched for amount of training and differing in having the training component. Protocols from the former group contained significantly fewer errors of correct assignment of points, failure to question when specified to do so, and over-all total number of errors. Mechanical errors, conversion errors, and errors establishing correct starting and stopping points (basal and ceiling points) were not significant. The results support the effectiveness of computer-assisted instruction when used in conjunction with classroom training.

This paper proposed the problem on how to improve professional degree graduate students’ engineering quality. Based on teaching practice, three kinds of reform measures are proposed. Firstly, change the curriculum system setting. And then establish interdisciplinary tutor team. Lastly, construct the practice base. In the engineering quality cultivation, highlight the practice ability training. By establishing variety practice platforms provided students practical engineering training environment. Through the above reform measures, enhanced students’ awareness of engineering and improved their engineering quality.

This chapter discusses whether the findings of the new neuroscience based largely on functional brain imaging raise new normative questions and entail normative conclusions for ethical and legal theory and practice. After reviewing the source of optimism about neuroscientific contributions and the current scientific status of neuroscience, it addresses a radical challenge neuroscience allegedly presents: whether neuroscience proves persons do not have agency. It then considers a series of discrete topics in neuroethics and neurolaw, including the “problem” of responsibility, enhancement of normal functioning, threats to civil liberty, competence, informed consent, end-of-life issues, neuroevidence in criminal cases, and the ethics of caution. It suggests that the ethical and legal resources to respond to the findings of neuroscience already exist and will do so for the foreseeable future.

This paper reports on a pilot project that involved the incorporation of Community Service-Learning (CSL) into a large Introductory Sociology class by drawing on the critical reflections of the six graduate student instructors and the primary instructor who taught the course. Graduate student instructors individually facilitated weekly seminars for about 30 undergraduate students, half of which participated in CSL, completing 20 hours of volunteer work with a local non-profit community organization. We discuss the benefits of incorporating CSL into a large Introductory Sociology class and speculate on the value of our particular course format for the professional development of graduate student instructors. A main finding was the critical importance to graduate students of formal and informal training and collaboration prior to and during the delivery of the course. Graduate students found useful exposure to CSL as pedagogical theory and practice, and appreciated the hands-on teaching experience. Challenges with this course structure include the difficulty of seamlessly incorporating CSL student experiences into the class, dealing with the “CSL”/ “non CSL” student division, and the nature of some of the CSL placements. We conclude by discussing possible methods for dealing with these challenges.
