This article focuses on dimensions of national ethos among educated youths in Malaysia by developing a confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) model. The main objective is to evaluate national ethos dimensions and develop a CFA model of the national ethos formation. These objectives are achieved by applying four main dimensions to confirm the formation of national ethos: values, feelings and spirit, beliefs and identity dimensions. The study was conducted using a quantitative approach through survey techniques involving 431 students of Universiti Putra Malaysia, comprising 241 Malay and 190 Chinese youth groups. The data analysis used the SEM-AMOS approach to develop a CFA model of the national ethos. The results confirm national ethos of educated youth is formed through the four main dimensions measured. The CFA model has achieved a good level of compatibility based on the set indicators (CMIN = 600.947, DF = 115, CMIN / DF = 5.226, p = 0.000, SRMR = 0.0937, RMSEA = 0.099, CFI = 0.927 and PNFI = 0.771). This study implies a CFA model as a new approach in national ethos formation among educated youths in Malaysia. A future evaluation of a non-educated youth group should also be implemented to assure that this model becomes a holistic model.

The Athlete Burnout Questionnaire (ABQ) has become one of the most used tools to assess burnout in sport contexts. Despite a significant increase in research in this field, the literature has shown that there are no papers which provide psychometric data of the ABQ using a Mexican sample. Hence the objective of the present study was to analyze the psychometric properties of the Athlete Burnout Questionnaire of Mexican athletes. Data analysis was obtained using two studies. The first study consisted of 464 young athletes between 13 and 18 years old (M = 14.85, DT = 1.45). The results of the Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) showed acceptable fit indices (c2 = 176.7; c2 /gl = 2.18; p < .01; TLI = .93, IFI = .95, CFI = .95 y RMSEA = .05) Acceptable results of load regression were also found for the original three factor questionnaire. A sample of 1009 Mexican athletes between 12 and 39 years of age (M = 17.28, SD = 2.98) were used for the second study. The results of the CFA found sufficient evidence for the construct validity (c2 = 419.5; 2cc2 /gl = 5.59; p < .01; TLI = .94, IFIS = .96, CFI = .96 and RMSEA = .07). The results in the analysis of correlation between the Athlete Burnout Questionnaire (ABQ) and the Athlete Engagement questionnaire (AEQ) can be considered as evidence of the discriminant validity. In regard to reliability, acceptable results were observed in internal consistency in both phases of the study, concluding that the ABQ is a useful tool to evaluate the burnout in Mexican athletes.

Many researchers make an error in data analysis, where researchers analyzing data using the raw score on the instrument with an ordinal scale. Error in the use of raw score for an instrument with an ordinal scale can be overcome by using measurement model testing, namely tau-equivalent and parallel. The purpose of this study is to examine the best measurement model of the Satisfaction with Life Scale (SWLS). The research method is Secondary Data Analysis approach (SDA). The secondary data was combined from two previous studies. The quantitative research analysis technique used to test the three measurement models in SWLS was confirmatory factor analysis. The unidimensional model of confirmatory factor analysis indicates that tau-equivalent is the best measurement model in SWLS testing (χ2(9)=13.759, p > .05 and RMSEA < .05). Based on the result, an implication measuring instruments using raw score can be used while measurement model testing of an instrument is tau-equivalent.
