Extent and pattern of genetic diversity in linseed(Linum usitatissimum L) under irrigated ecology

Sixty six genotypes of linseed were analysed for the morphological traits to investigate the genetic diversity between and within the genotypes. The field data was initially subjected to analysis of variance. There were highly significant differences among the genotypes for all the traits indicating the presence of variability among the genotypes and the possibility to undertake cluster analysis. The phenotypic divergence and relative importance were estimated by multivariate analysis. The cluster analysis classified linseed genotypes in to nine major groups. The maximum intercluster diversity was observed between cluster VIII and V. Based on mean performance of the genotypes and intercluster distance the crosses between ICAR Sel-1 and L-9, NDC 2005-34, H660, LCK 87042, NDL2005-22, GS335 is recommended to get use full transgressive sergeants in linseed.

Flax (Linum usitatissimum L.), stoods in position third, being the largest natural fibre crop and simultaneously one of the five preeminent oilseed crops in the world. SSR/microsatellite markers are extensively utilized for genetic diversity analysis and cultivar identification considering their myriad abundance, co-dominant inheritance, steep polymorphism, reproducibility, and comfort of assay by PCR. Ten microsatellites were amplified in 27 genotypes of Flax. The study was undertaken to assess the genetic diversity in flax and to select most diverse genotypes for future breeding program. Primer efficiency parameters were studied. The 10 SSR loci amplified a total of 41 alleles that were used for genetic analysis. Most primers have PIC value greater than 0.5 and the LU6 marker was highly polymorphic PIC = 0.95. Estimates of RP̅ were highest for the primer LU1 (0.68). The maximum MI was observed for the primer LU10 (3.56). The H and D ranged from 0.26 to 1.78 and 0.36 to 5.40, respectively. According to Spearman rank correlation, PIC and MI were most important parameters in assessing the efficiency of whole set of 10 SSR primers. Dendrogram was constructed using the genetic similarity coefficients using UPGMA. PCo-A was also performed in support. Genetic diversity in Flax was revealed at molecular level.

Genetic diversity in 31 potato genotypes (parents and their hybrid progenies) was determined using multivariate analysis. Cluster analysis revealed that the parents and their hybrid progenies could be grouped into five different clusters. The maximum number of genotypes were included in clusters II and V. Cluster V had maximum and cluster I had minimum intra-cluster distance. Cluster mean showed wide range of variation for several characters among single as well as multi-genotypic clusters. In the Turkish flora, the genus Matricaria is present with four taxa, namely M. aurea, M. chamomilla var. chamomilla, M. chamomilla var. recutita and M. matricarioides. This study presents an evaluation of selected diagnostic characters and anatomical traits of the achene (cypsela) of Matricaria in Turkey using univariate analysis (one-way analysis of variance) and multivariate analysis (cluster analysis, principal component analysis) to obtain new information. Three groups are found within the genus Matricaria based on morphoanatomical characteristics. The colour of disc florets, that of ribs on the achenes, the presence or absence of a slime envelope and pericarp thickness are useful for delimitation of Matricaria taxa, and a key to taxa based on these characters together with other diagnostic traits is provided.

Maize Research Institute ?Zemun Polje? genebank maintains a collection of landraces grouped into 18 agro-ecological collected from ex-Yugoslavia territories. The application and comparison of different marker systems are important for the characterization and use of maize landraces in breeding program, as potential sources of desirable traits. In this study, 15 morphological traits, 7 RAPD primers and 10 SSR primer pairs were applied to i) to determine genetic distance between 21 maize dent landraces and ii) compare results obtained on morphological and molecular markers. Phenotypic analysis showed high level of heterogeneity between landraces. Higher level of genetic diversity was obtained with SSR than with RAPD. Genetic distance mean value for RAPD data was 0.35 i.e. for SSR 0.48. Based on the morphological traits and molecular markers, unweighted pairgroup method (UPGMA) analysis was applied for cluster analysis, using statistical NTSYSpc program package. Cluster analysis of morphological and molecular markers distances did not show the same population grouping. Better agreement with agro-ecological data was obtained with RAPD markers. Correlations between dissimilarity matrices for different types of markers were low. Data obtained in this work could be useful for further study of a larger number of landraces, and conservation of genetic resources and their genetic diversity.

Purpose: This research aimed to examine the possible difference of secondary school students’ motivational profiles on their sportsmanship orientation in physical education. Methods: The participants were 707 (53.61% men; Mage = 14.97, SDage = 1.58) secondary school students, who completed measures on their perception of behavioral regulation and sportsmanship orientation in physical education. A two-step cluster analysis was performed to explore the motivational profiles, and multivariate analysis of variance tests was conducted to examine differences on sportsmanship orientation among motivational profiles. Results: The cluster analysis identified four motivational profiles (controlled, amotivated, high motivational regulation, and autonomous). The multivariate analysis of variance tests found that the students in the four motivational profiles reported different levels in respect for social conventions, respect for rules and teachers, full commitment, and respect for classmates. Discussion/Conclusions: The motivational profiles provided a more comprehensive understanding of the motivational processes for each sportsmanship orientation in secondary school students in physical education.
