UNSTRUCTURED In response to the announcement of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic by the World Health Organization on March 11, 2020, a worldwide closure of schools and educational institutions has been implemented to combat the spread of the disease. This has resulted in transferring from face-to-face teaching to virtual schooling and e-learning to continue the second semester of the academic year 2019-2020. The main objective of this article is to review and reflect on the experience of the College of Pharmacy at King Saud Bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences in implementing action plans concerning applying e-learning in the delivery of the remaining curriculum and assessment methods after the announcement of COVID-19 pandemic. The feedback of the students was surveyed to address issues of preparedness, attitude and barriers concerning e-learning. Action plans were implemented at the university and the college levels. The educational process went very smooth by e-learning and several assessment methods have been applied in continuous assessment and final examinations. A total of 170 contact hours have been delivered by live broadcasting whereas 125 contact hours were recorded. Minimal number of lectures and topic discussion sessions have been deleted and some have been transferred to the next semester. The survey results indicated good satisfaction of the students in the e-learning process were approximately 75% of them have responded to a survey that was prepared for this purpose. This experience could provide a helpful guidance and insight to deal with such a crisis to rapidly move from regular educational activities by face-to-face teaching to e-learning.

Prior to the pandemic, Indian educational institutions relied primarily on traditional means of instruction, like as face-to-face lectures in a classroom. Many academic units have already begun to mix learning throughout the pandemic, but many still maintain archaic traditions. The rapid outbreak of a lethal disease known as Covid-19 due to the SARS-CoV-2 Corona Virus startled the whole world. It was labeled a pandemic by the World Health Organization. This has challenged the worldwide education system and prompted educators to move to an online teaching modality overnight. Many schools, which were previously reluctant to adapt their traditional approach to pedagogy, were unable to move totally to online instruction. The paper discusses the importance of online learning and of e-learning modalities analysis in times of crisis, including strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and challenges (SWOC). This article also highlights the emergence of EdTech startups during pandemics and provides ideas for academic institutions to tackle online learning issues.

Abstract Coronavirus disease 2019, first reported in China in late 2019, has quickly spread across the world. The outbreak was declared a pandemic by the World Health Organization on March 11, 2020. Here, we describe our initial efforts at the University of Florida Health for processing of large numbers of tests, streamlining data collection, and reporting data for optimizing testing capabilities and superior clinical management. Specifically, we discuss clinical and pathology informatics workflows and informatics instruments which we designed to meet the unique challenges of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) testing. We hope these results benefit institutions preparing to implement SARS-CoV-2 testing.

The objective of this pilot study was to gather and analyze data on radon concentrations in workplaces in three buildings of Granada University (Southern Spain) constructed in different centuries. All measurements were made at basement or ground floor level under normal use conditions except for one space (mineral store), in which measurements were compared between the door closed and open. Measurements were conducted during different time periods between October 2013 and March 2019 with a Radon-Scout PLUS portable Radonmonitor. The duration of continuous recordings at different sites ranged between 42 and 1104 h. Mean accumulated radon concentrations ranged between 12 and 95 Bq/m3, below the maximal level of 300 Bq/m3 set by the World Health Organization (WHO). Relatively high values were recorded in the oldest building (15th century), which was also poorly ventilated. Ventilation appeared to be an important factor in reducing radon levels, especially in areas less exposed to radon, such as Southern Spain.

AbstractObjectives: To introduce and evaluate a computer assisted learning programme in undergraduate psychiatry (CAL-PSYCH).Methods: An interactive e-learning environment was created within the University College Dublin portal to assist students in acquiring the necessary skills in undergraduate psychiatry. The pilot phase consisted of providing their lectures on-line on the interactive site. Data were gathered from the last group of students in 2001 (pre-CAL-PSYCH) and the first group of students using CAL-PSYCH in 2002. We included assessment of percentage of students accessing the site, attendance rates at face-to-face lectures and tutorials, and also a feedback questionnaire from students who accessed the site.Results: All responders had used CAL-PSYCH. Students gave higher ratings for quality and interactivity of lectures compared with the pre-CAL-PSYCH curriculum. Students also expressed enthusiasm about CAL-PSYCH and encouraged us to develop it further.Conclusions: Computer-assisted learning environments such as CAL-PSYCH provide the opportunity to bring modern e-learning techniques to medical education, and may provide a new model for life-long learning in medicine.

Abstract Nowadays, at the time of convergence culture, social network, and transmedia storytelling – when social interactions are constantly remediated – e-learning, especially in universities, should be conceived as a sharing educational activity. Different learning experiences should become smoother and able to fade out the closed learning environments (as software platform and classrooms (either virtual or not)). In this paper, we will show some experiences of the Communication Sciences degree program of the University of Cagliari, which is supplied through an e-learning method. In the ten years since its foundation, the approach has evolved from a blended learning with two kinds of traditional activity (online activities and face-to-face lessons) to a much more dynamic learning experience. Many new actors (communication companies, local government, public-service corporations, new media and social media) – indeed – have been involved in educational and teaching process. But also these processes changed: collaborative working, new media comprehension, self-guided problem solving are examples of the new literacies and approaches that can be reached as new learning objectives.

Today, education is influenced by many factors. Educational institutions face budget cuts, outdated information technology, data security management, and a push to integrate distance learning. Virtualization technologies offer innovative solutions to the problems that arise in this direction. In particular, the extensive use of virtualization in implementing remote and traditional teaching with the use of various e-learning materials, digital learning resources, educational portals, websites, cloud-based technologies. The article presents the directions of the organization of the original educational infrastructure with the use of virtualization technologies implemented by the university in the educational process. This infrastructure provides students and university staff with access to virtual workstations and applications over the Internet, both for working in computer labs at the university and for extracurricular work. Virtualization technologies that characterize the infrastructure functions are presented, which reflect the advantages of this direction, and the final results of research experiments conducted to identify infrastructure problems are presented.

UNSTRUCTURED As part of its transformation process to meet the health challenges of the 21st century by creating a motivated and fit-for-purpose global workforce, the World Health Organization (WHO) is developing the first-ever global Learning Strategy for health personnel around the world. Focus group discussions (FGDs) were organized as part of in-depth qualitative research on staff views, visions, and suggestions. Due to the pandemic, a flexible, multi-linguistic, participatory, iterative methodology for digitization of face-to-face FDGs to engage a globally dispersed workforce was implemented.

Dr. Francis Boyle, who drafted the Biological Weapons Act has given a detailed statement admitting that the 2019 Wuhan Coronavirus is an offensive Biological Warfare Weapon and that the World Health Organization (WHO) already knows about it. Francis Boyle is a professor of international law at the University of Illinois College of Law. He drafted the U.S. domestic implementing legislation for the Biological Weapons Convention, known as the Biological Weapons Anti-Terrorism Act of 1989, that was approved unanimously by both Houses of the U.S. Congress and signed into law by President George H.W. Bush.

The aim of this research is to explore the most important features of interactive learning and its impact on the success of the educational process by discussing the educational methods used in the educational institutions and presenting the most important problems observed by students and teachers in the traditional educational process, In the educational institutions, and then try to explore the weakness of the educational process in which students find it difficult to education, by asking a questionnaire directed to different segments of the students were randomly selected from some of the university Which showed the need for students to introduce modern methods in education to increase the effectiveness of education and access to the ability to communicate more with teachers, so we have looked at the most important techniques that entered the educational process (electronic board, Which led to the transformation of the teaching process from its traditional form to interactive e-learning. This model helps to standardize the various e-learning systems as a general framework that can be applied in different languages Software, and can handle various end-user operating platforms such as mobile phones with their various systems, computers, tablets and others.
