Surgical treatment is still one of the main methods of complex therapy of breast cancer. Due to the widespread use of non-adjuvant antitumor treatment, the issue of routine tumor labeling is becoming increasingly important. The purpose of labeling is to improve the quality of tumor control after neoadjuvant therapy and adequate surgical treatment. In this literature review, we will consider the methods for labeling to visualize a tumor site.

Treatment with adjuvant endocrine therapy, including tamoxifen and the aromatase inhibitors, has resulted in notable improvements in disease-free and overall survival for patients with hormone receptor-positive breast cancer. Despite their proven benefit, however, adherence to and persistence with the medications is poor in part because of bothersome side effects that can negatively affect quality of life. Retrospective analyses have identified possible predictors of development of toxicity. Reports have also suggested that development of toxicity may be a biomarker of better response to therapy. In addition, there has been considerable research investment into the management of these side effects, which may lead to improved adherence and persistence with therapy. However, although notable advances have been made, much more remains to be done to provide patients with truly personalized therapy for hormone receptor-positive breast cancer.

PURPOSE: To prospectively evaluate the association between tumor response, change in quality of life (QoL), and hospital expenditures in patients with metastatic breast cancer (MBC) receiving single-agent paclitaxel. PATIENTS AND METHODS: Eligible patients had bidimensionally measurable MBC and any number of previous therapies, excluding taxane chemotherapy. Paclitaxel was administered by various different infusion schedules. QoL measures were evaluated for each patient at baseline and serially using the Memorial Symptom Assessment Scale (MSAS)-Global Distress Index (GDI) and Functional Assessment of Cancer Therapy–Breast (FACT-B) instruments. Patients were assessed for early (first 6 weeks) and ever changes in QoL parameters. Charges were monitored through the hospital’s centralized computer billing system and converted to cost ratios for the analysis. Correlations between response and improvement in QoL were assessed by Fisher’s exact test statistic. Associations between improvements in QoL with cost ratios were assessed by logistic regression and likewise between response and cost ratios. RESULTS: Of the 59 patients treated, 50 had sufficient data for comparative analyses. The overall response rate was 24% (all partial responses). Minor responses were observed in 17% of patients, 25% had stable disease, and 29% had progression. Responding patients had significant improvement in QoL as assessed by MSAS-GDI (P = .004) and FACT-B (P = .028). The mean total cost/month ratios for patients experiencing improved GDI QoL scores was 1.31 versus 1.56 for those without QoL benefit (P = .52) and 1.05 versus 1.76 for responders versus nonresponders, respectively (P = .07). CONCLUSION: Patients with evidence of tumor response on paclitaxel had a QoL benefit not observed in nonresponders, and this response was associated with a trend for lower overall costs.

Yoga was a therapy that combined breathing, relaxation and meditation techniques and stretching exercises. The benefits of yoga in general could increase strength, flexibility, train balance, reduce pain, train breathing, smooth organ function, inner calm and improve quality of life. Several differences in the results of studies can influence the decisions of patients and health providers in planning appropriate interventions for breast cancer patients. This literature review aimed to explain the effectiveness of yoga on the quality of life of patients with breast cancer. The research data were identified from five journal databases including PubMed, JSTOR, Willey Online Library, Sage Journal and Taylor Francis Online by using the PIOS (Participant, Intervention, Outcomes and Study Design) method and MeSH term on the advanced search engine. Articles that became research data were articles published in 2007 to 2020 in the English version, open access and full text in the form of original articles or research articles. Of the 1,645 articles found, a screening process was carried out using PRISMA flowchart to eliminate articles that did not meet the criteria. In this literature review study, 9 articles were found that prove that the use of yoga interventions could improve the quality of life of patients. This study reinforced the findings of previous research which showed that yoga could be used effectively in the process of treating patients with breast cancer.

Background. Rehabilitation of patients after radical treatment of breast cancer is especially relevant due to the fact that successes in diagnostics and treatment of this disease in recent years have led to an increase in the life expectancy of female patients. Aim. to compare the efficiency of various methods of low-frequency low-intensity magnetotherapy in patients operated on for breast cancer, in the early terms (24 days) after surgery. Methods. Objective and instrumental examination was performed in 78 patients after radical surgical treatment of breast cancer in the early stages (24 days) after surgery. All patients received a course of low-frequency low-intensity magnetotherapy. Results. When applying the extended technique (the effect on the segmental-reflex region and upper limb from the side of the surgery), patients noted an improvement in the quality of life, a decrease in swelling of the upper limb, and a decrease in pain syndrome. A decrease in the number of postoperative complications and the duration of lymphorrhea was noted. Conclusion. Thus, the use of various methods of low-frequency low-intensity magnetotherapy is advisable to use in the early terms (24 days) after surgical treatment, however, the use of the advanced technique provides high function capabilities and enables to get a more pronounced and lasting clinical result.

Today, there are several approaches to the treatment of critical lower limb ischemia (KINK). However, despite the high clinical effectiveness achieved, it is not always possible to achieve a high quality of life for the patient after surgery. This article presents modern aspects of surgical treatment of KINK and assesses the quality of life of patients depending on the type of intervention (literature review).

The post-mastectomy syndrome and lymphedema after the combined treatment of breast cancer, significantly worsen the quality of life of patients, their psycho - emotional state. The treatment of this disease is always combined in nature, and involves elements of the Complex Decongestive Therapy, pneumatic compression, mild electrical stimulation and low-frequency magnetic therapy. The best results of therapy are achieved with early detection and treatment. Complex treatment of lymphedema does not affect the course of cancer.

AbstractThe death rate caused by cancer has increased very rapidly. Breast cancer is caused by the growth of abnormal tissue. It comes from abnormal changes in genes that regulate cell growth so that cells lose their control. Breast cancer can be found early by doing BSE, as well as by doing a clinical examination. However, community behavior in doing the early detection of breast cancer is still low due to a lack of knowledge in doing BSE. Therefore, it needs to increase awareness of the health importance to improve a better quality of life. To determine BSE knowledge and breast self-examination behavior in adolescents through a literature review. The data collection technique used a literature review method of 5 articles. The articles were from Google Scholar and PubMed. They were published in 2011-2021. The critical assessment instrument used was strobe. The results of a literature review of 5 articles showed that from 704 respondents, most of the respondents who had good knowledge were 280 respondents (40%). Those who had never done BSE were 421 respondents (60%). In this literature review, the result showed that the respondents' knowledge of breast self-examination was good. The respondents also had not done any breast self-examination.
