An oleane-type triterpenoid, briononic acid was isolated from hexane extract of the stem bark of Sandoricum koetjape Merr. (Meliaceae). A long chain alcohol, 1-eicosanol together with two sterols, β-sitosterol and stigmasterol had been isolated from hexane extract of stem bark of pacar cina (Aglaia odorata Lour) (Meliaceae). Eight compounds were isolated from the stem bark of the plant Afraegle paniculata. One of them, a dimethyl ether of S-trans-marmin (1), is reported as a new natural product. The structures were determined by comprehensive analyses of their 1D and 2D NMR spectroscopic and HREIMS data. The remaining seven known compounds, identified by comparing their spectroscopic data with those reported in the literature, were S-trans-marmin (2), psoralene (3), bergaptene (4), imperatorin (5), 2-(4-hydroxy-3,5-dimethoxyphenyl)-3-hydroxymethyl-2,3-dihydro-1,4,5-trioxaphenanthren-6-one (6), xanthoxyletin (7), and β-sitosterol glucopyranoside. Preliminary studies indicated that compounds 2, 3, 5, and 7 showed potent antibacterial, fungicidal, and algicidal properties, while 6 showed only moderate algicidal property.

<p><strong>Objective: </strong>The present study deals with the cytotoxic activity of n-hexane and ethyl acetate extracts of <em>Calotropis gigantea</em> L. stem bark and its fractions such as A, B, C, D and E fractions on murine leukemia cell line P388.</p><p><strong>Methods: </strong>The crude extracts of <em>C. gigantea</em> stem bark were prepared using n-hexane and ethyl acetate solvents. The plant extracts were subjected to vacuum liquid chromatography followed by TLC. According to the similarity of stain patterns, the fractions were combined. The extracts and its combined fractions were then subjected for the phytochemical test. Cytotoxic activity of those extracts and its combined fractions were tested using MTT assay. Fraction D was subjected to gravity column chromatography followed by TLC. Then, fractions A, B, and D2 were crystallized and subjected to GC-MS.</p><p><strong>Results: </strong>The qualitative screening of n-hexane extract of <em>Calotropis gigantea</em> L. stem bark for secondary metabolites showed the presence of terpenoid, flavonoids, phenolics and coumarins. While the ethyl acetate extract contained phenolics, steroids, flavonoids, saponins and coumarins compounds. IC<sub>50 </sub>values for n-hexane extract and E fraction are 76.29 µg/ml and 18.48 µg/ml, respectively. In the ethyl acetate extract and C fraction obtained IC<sub>50</sub> values 57.05 µg/ml and 52.58 µg/ml.</p><p><strong>Conclusion: </strong>Cytotoxic activity from E fraction of n-hexane extract of <em>C. gigantea</em> stem bark is the most potent and containing flavonoids, phenolics and coumarins. The main components from several compounds of n-hexane extract of <em>C. gigantea</em> are germacrane-A, (-)-globulol, urs-12-ene and veridiflorol. </p>

Pentacyclic triterpenoid, betulinic acid (1) and phenolic, p-hydroxybenzoic acid (2), had been isolated for the first time from the stem bark of Vitex pubescens Vahl. The structure of compounds 1 and 2 was determined based on the interpretation of spectroscopic data including UV, IR, NMR (1H-NMR, 13C-NMR, HMQC, HMBC, COSY) and MS, as well as by comparison with those reported data.

A new polyoxygenated dimer-type xanthone, namely 5,5′-oxybis(1,3,7-trihydroxy-9H-xanthen-9-one (1), has been isolated from the stem bark of Garcinia porrecta. The structure of 1 was determined based on spectroscopic data, including 1D and 2D-NMR as well as high resolution mass spectroscopy analysis.

Two dammarane-type triterpenoids, cabraleadiol (1) and cabraleahydroxylactone (2), have been isolated from n-hexane extract of the stembark of  Chisocheton pentandrus (Meliaceae). The structure of compounds 1 and 2 were determined by spectroscopic data mainly NMR and mass as well as by comparing with previously reported spectral data. Objective: Kecapi bark (Sandoricum koetjape Merr.) is a plant of the Meliaceae family that is often used by people to treat diarrhea and abdominal pain. This study aims to determine the effects of antidiarrheal from the ethanol extract of the Kecapi stem bark on induced with castor oil and bacteria Escherichia coli.Methods: Before the in vivo on male guinea pig test was switched first, then 10 ml of castor oil was induced and 7.7 ml of E. coli male guinea pig was induced, then each male guinea was given a variation of dose ethanol extract kecapi stem bark and loperamide as the comparison. Parameters measured in this study were the start time of diarrhea, consistency of feces, frequency, and duration of diarrhea.Result: The results obtained showed that ethanol extract of kecapi bark antidiarrheal effect on guinea pigs induced castor oil (dose of 800 mg/kg body weight) and E. coli.Conclusion: Ethanol extract of Kecapi bark has an activity of antidiarrheal..

ABSTRAK Dua senyawa flavanon terisoprenilasi yakni lonkokarpol A (1) dan lupinifolin (2) telah diisolasi dari kulit batang Erythrina fusca L. Struktur senyawa flavanon terisoprenilasi ditetapkan berdasarkan analisis spektroskopi UV, IR, MS dan NMR. Uji aktivitas antimalarial senyawa 1–2 terhadap Plasmodium falciparum strain 3D7 memperlihatkan IC50 1,18 dan 0,82 µg/ml yang dikategorikan sangat aktif. Kata kunci : Erythrina fusca L., lonkokarpol A, lupinifolin, antimalaria ABSTRACT Two isoprenylated flavanones namely as lonchocarpol A (1) dan lupinifolin (2) were isolated from the stem bark of Limonia accidissima L. Erythrina fusca L. Their structures were determined based on spectroscopic data such as UV, IR, MS and NMR. Compounds 1–2 were evaluated for their antimalarial against Plasmodium falciparum strain 3D7 showing their IC50 were 1.18 and 0.8 µg/ml, respectively and very high activity. Antioksidan adalah suatu senyawa yang dapat menangkap radikal bebas. Salah satu sumber anti oksidan alami adalah dari tumbuh-tumbuhan. Dalam usaha pencarian antioksidan baru, telah dilakukan identifikasi senyawa antioksidan dari ekstrak n-heksana kulit batang Garcinia bancana Miq dengan metode 1,1-difenil-2-pikrilhidrazil (DPPH). Metode isolasi dilakukan dengan cara  kombinasi kromatografi (Kromatografi kolom vacum, kromatografi kolom gravitasi, kromatografi lapis tipis  sentrifugal dan kromatografi lempeng tipis)  Penentuan struktur molekul berdasarkan analisis data spektroskopi UV-VIS, IR, LC-MS, NMR proton dan karbon. Dari  hasil isolasi didapatkan suatu senyawa isoprenil bezofenon dengan bobot molekul 466,22 dan  rumus molekul C28H34O6 dengan nama IUPAC 3-(3,4-dihidroksibenzoil)-4-hidroksi-8-8-dimetil-1,7-bis(3-metilbut-2enil) bisiklo (3.3.1) non-3-ene-2,9-dione atau disebut bacanone yang diduga senyawa baru. Dari proses isolasi juga ditemukan senyawa atsiri b- caryophyllene, α-humulene dan b-cadinene serta stigmasterol. Hasil uji aktivitas antioksidan ekstrak n-heksana dan hasil isolat murni menunjukkan IC50 berturut-turut 17,78 ppm dan 12,79 ppm dimana pembanding kuersetin adalah 9,90 ppm.Kata kunci:  Garcinia bancana, antioksidan, DPPH, 3-(3,4-dihidroksibenzoil)-4-hidroksi-8-8-dimetil-1,7-bis(3-metilbut-2enil)bisiklo(3.3.1)no-3-ene-2,9-dione, bacanone. Antioxidants are compounds that can capture free radicals. One source of natural antioxidant is from plants. On searching  for new antioxidant, identification of antioxidant compound of the n-hexane extract of the stem bark of Garciniabancana Miq was done by  1.1-diphenyl-2-pikrilhidrazil (DPPH) method. Isolation active compound were done by combination of chromatographic methods (Flash column chromatography, gravitation column chromatography, cetrifugal thin layer chromatography and thin layer chromatography) .Determination of molecular structure by analysis spectroscopic data of UV-VIS, IR, LC-MS, NMR proton and carbon.Isolation results were      isophrenyl bezophenon with molecular weight 466.22 and the molecular formula is C28H34O6 IUPAC name 3 - (3,4-dihydroxybenzoil)-4-hydroxy-8-8-dimethyl-1,7-bis (3-methylbut-2enyl) bicyclo (3.3.1) non-3-ene-2,9-dione or named bacanone wich is suspected as a new compound. From the isolation were also found of known volatile compounds b - caryophyllene, α-humulene and b-cadinene and stigmasterol. The test results of antioxidant activity of  n-hexane extract and pure compound  showed IC50 respectively 17.78 ppm and 12.79 ppm which comparison with  quercetin is 9.90 ppm. Key words :  Garcinia bancana Miq., antioxidant, DPPH, 3-(3,4-dihydroxybenzoil)-4-hidroxy-8-8-dimethyl-1,7-bis (3-methylbut-2enil)bisiklo(3.3.1)no-3-ene-2,9-dione, bacanone.
