Even though the process of transition from a centrally planned to a market economy in Serbia started in the early 90's of the last century – domestic transitional discourse becomes increasingly predominant only after the changes that occurred on the 5th of October 2000. Structural changes that were initiated have influenced an increasingly widespread scientific and research debate on globalization and transitional processes, which remains relevant to this date. In contrast to the prevalent affirmative views on globalization processes in the first decade of the 21st century, the second decade was, in terms of these discussions, characterized more by critically-minded debates on the consequences of globalization. Within these debates as a "loyal companion" of the notion of globalization, the notion of sovereignty is often used, especially in that "post-historical" context of the weakening of the state as an institution. Given that these debates continue to be considerably present within domestic social sciences and humanities research platforms, it seems that the multidisciplinary approach to these concepts could shed additional light on their nature and point out to the possible inconsistencies and inadequate use. Therefore, in the focus of the analysis is the problem of the relation between the concepts of sovereignty and globalization, which is observed both with reference to different concepts in the theoretical, constitutional and international legal doctrine, and to the already existing tendencies in domestic sociological, economic and political debates.

AbstractThis article focuses on Radulescu's 1984 Subconscious Wave, for guitar and pre-recorded digital sound, a work that features on my 2019 solo CD recording Refracted Resonance, for Métier Records, alongside music by Tristan Murail, Christopher Fox, George Holloway and myself. The article places the work in the context of Radulescu's output, demonstrates how it displays the key aesthetic concepts that drive his music and shares my insights into the technical and interpretive aspects of preparing the piece for performance and recording. The article has been adapted from a lecture-recital given at the 2021 edition of the 21st Century Guitar Conference, which was hosted by the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities at the Universidade NOVA de Lisboa (NOVA FCSH), Portugal in March 2021.

Could you truly understand contemporary Argentine culture without considering the local appropriation of The Simpsons? In this article, we argue that mass culture has been a blind spot of Argentine social sciences and humanities because of the particular development of local cultural studies. In order to articulate a critique and build upon it, we will review relevant literature, identify promising current research, and offer an outline on how to rethink the problem of production, circulation and consumption of culture in 21st-century Argentina and beyond.

“Memoria histórica razonada” es una propuesta teórico-metodológica que busca la participación activa de las víctimas del conflicto armado interno en la construcción de la historia colombiana. El artículo es un aporte conceptual de un estudio de trayectorias de vida de víctimas del desplazamiento forzado llevado a cabo en Bucaramanga, Colombia. Para tal caso, se realiza un acercamiento al contexto histórico del origen y dinámica de la historia, la memoria y la oralidad en la historiografía. Se evidencia el debate teórico sobre memoria e historia realizado por autores de las ciencias sociales y humanas. Y se muestran trabajos participativos de memorias de víctimas del conflicto armado interno colombiano. Como resultado, se pretende que mediante la construcción de memoria histórica razonada se comprendan relatos de personas desplazadas a través de un conocimiento complementario entre víctimas e investigadores, generándose instrumentos contra marginalidades, negacionismos, silencios y olvidos impuestos por centros de poder.Palabras claves: “memoria histórica razonada”, “memoria histórica”, víctimas, historia, memoria, historiografía, historia oral.Reasoned Historical Memory.  A Proposal to Include Victims of Colombian Internal Armed ConflictAbstractThis Reasoned Historical Memory is a theoretical-methodological proposal that seeks the active participation of victims of internal armed conflict in the construction of Colombian history. While The article is part of a conceptual contribution to a study from life trajectories of victims of forced displacement held in Bucaramanga city.For such a case, It makes an approach into the historical context of the origin and dynamic of history, memory and orality in historiography. It demonstrates the theoretical debate about memory and history made by authors in the social sciences and humanities. Also, the participatory memories from the victims of Colombian internal armed conflict are showed. As a result, it is intended that through the construction of historical memory are understood reasoned accounts of people displaced through a complementary knowledge between victims and researchers, generating instruments against marginalities denials, silence and forgetfulness imposed by centers of power.  Keywords: "reasoned historical memory","historical memory", victims, memory, history, historiography. oral history.

Gilbert Ryle’s distinction between knowledge-how and knowledge-that emerged from his criticism of the “intellectualist legend” that to do something intelligently is “to do a bit of theory and then to do a bit of practice,” and became a philosophical commonplace in the second half of the last century. In this century Jason Stanley (initially with Timothy Williamson) has attacked Ryle’s distinction, arguing that “knowing-how is a species of knowing-that,” and accusing Ryle of setting up a straw man in his critique of “intellectualism.” Examining the use of the terms “intellectualism” and “anti-intellectualism” in the first half of the 20th century, in a wide-ranging debate in the social sciences as well as in philosophy, I show that Ryle was not criticizing a straw man, but a live historical position. In the context of this controversy, Ryle’s position represents a third way between “intellectualism” and “anti-intellectualism,” an option that has largely gone missing in the 21st century discussion. This argument illustrates how history can inform the history of philosophy, and how the history of philosophy can inform contemporary philosophical inquiry.

This article explores the level of teaching of social sciences and humanities cycle within the frameworks of Ukrainian educational system, crisis and optimization of curricula as well. Attention is paid to the fact that, the correspondence of modern education system to the task (challenges) of contemporary society can be viewed as a sharp question for consideration that the scientists have been coming across for almost twenty years of the 21st century. It is argued that the impending revolution will affect (if not completely destroy) the political world order, to which humanity must be prepared. Perhaps today, there is a blurred understanding (human being as a social/political subject) of direct correlation of artificial intelligence and genetic engineering. A certain country’s political system or financial-banking system works are not crucial ones. A man is aimed at getting the earned money on time - transfer it from his ATM and spend it as he/ she wishes. He/she needs harmony in everything from family relations to the political climate. The emergence of new socio-political models with new forms of ideologies requires the flexibility towards new realities. It is argued that it is necessary to change educational approaches not only in the sense of its organization but in its content as well. Emphasis is placed on the fact that the old educational model set the primary goal - to provide education, now a different task - people should become independent, creative managers of their future. In this sense, only knowledge of a particular profession is insufficient. Proved to work in a new way in today’s environment, you need to see and understand these new conditions. It is argued that humanitarian knowledge shaping the socio-political culture of the individual, as an integral part of modern state formation, can come to the rescue. It is argued that it is possible to form a political culture, in particular, by studying the disciplines of the social and humanitarian cycle in higher education institutions. We have presented the models of social sciences and humanities teaching in higher educational institutions of the USA, Great Britain, France, Japan and South Korea. Attention is drawn to the content of educational programs in educational institutions in the United States and some European countries, which since 2015 have begun to increase the scope of study of humanities not only in classical universities, but also in technical ones

This article attempts to provide a breakthrough which I call mode of production theory. This theory will be employed to analyze the contemporary phenomenon of radical Islamism. The mode of production theory is meant to bridge the two clashing theoretical paradigms in social sciences and humanities, i.e., Weberian and Marxian. Despite its bridging nature, the paper argues that the two cannot be merged within one single thread. This is because each paradigm has its own epistemological basis which is irreconcilable to one another. Mostly adapted from Marx’s theory, the current theory of the mode of production covers five interrelated aspects, namely social, political, economic, cultural, and symbolic structures. If Marx’s mode of production theory heavily relies on a material and economic basis, the theory used in this paper accommodates cultural and symbolic structures that are Weberian in nature. Although the two paradigms can operate together, the strength of structure (Marxian) overpowers the strength of culture (Weberian). This paper further argues that such cultural-based aspects as ideology, norms, and values play as mobilizing factors under a big schematic dominant structure in the rise and development of the radical Islamist groups.

Previous studies demonstrated that different academic contexts could have different effects on moral development, i.e. in most cases formal education enhances moral reasoning, but sometime erodes it (for example for medical students). The aim of this study was to examine differences in moral reasoning among students of different academic disciplines (health care, law, social sciences and humanities). In research participated 386 students (Mage=23,12): 154 law students, 55 nursing students, 123 other social sciences students, a 53 humanities students. Participants took Test of Moral Reasoning (TMR) (Proroković, 2016) which measures index of moral reasoning (in range from 0 to 1), and idealistic orientations (humanistic and conservative). The results showed that there was no difference in the moral reasoning index among students of different academic orientations. Furthermore, students of different academic disciplines differed in the humanistic orientation in a way that students of social studies were more humanistically oriented than law students. Some of the possible explanations for the lack of differences with regard to academic orientations is that overall stimulating environment that college provides is perhaps more important for moral reasoning development than specific academic contexts. Findings of this study are consistent with the findings of some of the previous studies.
