Abstract: Mining is the most dangerous peacetime profession and coal mining is more so because of fire by spontaneous combustion, methane explosion, etc. Out of 7 subsidiaries of Coal India, Bharat Coking Coal Ltd. have maximum environmental challenges. The authors have studied the critical issues of management and presented summarily how the problems are being tackled. CIL has strongly fostered the belief that people living in mining areas are important stakeholders in the process of mine development and taking various activities for the development of the area. In this paper, the roles of different stakeholders in a coal company are analyzed for all-around development and cooperation. The global scenario on CSR has also been studied. In this paper, the authors have described special studies in sustainable mining with stakeholder engagement in Bharat Coking Coal Ltd, a subsidiary of Coal India Ltd, a major producer of valuable coking coal in India. The results ensured trouble-free operations among highly unemployed people in the mining areas, because of the closure of uneconomic mines. La responsabilidad social empresarial (RSE) es un concepto con el cual las empresas deciden voluntariamente incluirse en el logro de una sociedad mejor y un medio ambiente más saludable. Requiere de una continua adaptación a los cambios que se producen en su entorno, con su mirada puesta en la sostenibilidad empresarial que beneficie a la empresa y a las partes interesadas. El presente trabajo aborda, en primer lugar, los inicios y evolución del concepto de RSE, mostrando la estrecha relación con los cambios económicos y sociales. La responsabilidad social empresarial se inició con acciones filantrópicas, seguidas de acciones de inversión social. Sin embargo, en la actualidad, se plantea la realización de prácticas responsables integradas a la gestión empresarial, lo que propone nuevos modelos de gestión empresarial. Para comprender la noción de RSE en los negocios, se ha considerado necesario la realización de un diagnóstico en profundidad. Para ello, se muestran las diversas teorías y modelos de RSE corporativa; los grupos de interés y la RSE para la gestión; su interrelación con las normas legales actuales; y las herramientas de aplicación. Si se quiere ser competitivo, es necesario entender la empresa como un ciudadano corporativo con deberes y derechos, así como desafíos y aspectos críticos en su gestión. Finalmente, se hace mención a una serie de casos de RSE en los ámbitos internacional, nacional y regional para comprender el accionar y la respuesta de diversas empresas frente a los desafíos de su entorno y las necesidades de sus grupos de interés. ABSTRACTCorporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is a concept whereby companies decide voluntarily to include themselves the achievement of a better society and a healthier environment. It requires constantly adapting to the changing environment, with their sights set on corporate sustainability that benefits the company and stakeholders. Firstly, this paper addresses the beginnings and evolution about CSR concept, showing the close relationship between the economic and social changes. CSR began with philanthropy actions, followed by social investment actions. However, today, a realization of responsible practices integrated to business management is set out, which proposes new models of business management. To understand CSR in business is necessary to consider performing an in-depth diagnostic; for that, it shows the various theories and models of Corporate CSR, the stakeholders and CSR management; the relationship with the current laws and implementation tools. If competitiveness is required, it is necessary to understand the company as a corporate citizen with rights and duties, as well as challenges and critical issues in management. Finally, many of regional, national and internationals CSR cases are mentions to understand the actions and responses of various companies facing the challenges of their environment and the needs of its stakeholders. .

Employee retention is emerging as a critical issues impact on the competitive advantage. Internal corporate social responsibility (CSR) has been creating so much attention in the minds of employees during the recent years. Thus, the chapter is based on three objectives: First, it explores the relationship between internal CSR and employee retention. Second, it identifies how intrinsic motivation mediates the relationship between internal CSR and employee retention. Finally, it determines the internal CSR activities which the apparel industry should pay more attention to in order to better employee retention. Primary data were collected by using questionnaires, and the results of the study indicated that there is a positive relationship between internal CSR and employee retention. Moreover, intrinsic motivation partially mediates the relationship between the internal CSR and employee retention. The findings of the study identify the internal CSR activities which the apparel industry should pay more attention to in order to develop retention programs in the future.

The development of mineral resources is accompanied by serious threats to the geological environment in China. In order to balance mining order, mine environmental protection and ecological restoration, this article examines a case study of Ningwu mining area and proposes an accurate method for mine dynamic monitoring in mining area based on remote sensing (RS), which is a series of technical processes with RS images selection, mine development situation and dynamic monitoring which includes areas change and types transfer. Findings indicate that the area of bauxite pit, bauxite and coal dump increased, the area of coal industrial square decreased, coal dump and industrial square mainly transferred into bauxite pit. The organization and storage model were discussed for results integrated management by spatial database engine (ArcSDE).The application of results retrieval was developed by GIS components. This method can be considered as an effective approach for a wide range of mine development monitoring in mining areas in China.

Traffic classification is a critical technology in the areas of network management and security monitoring. Traditional port-based and payload-based classification are no longer effective due to the fact that many applications utilize unpredictable port numbers and packet encryption. Researchers tend to apply machine learning (ML) techniques to identify the traffic flows by recognizing statistical features. Unfortunately, looking back upon the related work, most of the ML-based classification algorithms have similar performance, and what really matters now is how to optimize these techniques. In this paper, we analyzed two critical issues (Feature Selection, Configuration of Parameters) of ML classification, and presented the corresponding viable methods to optimize the classification model. This paper also reported the experimental evaluation to assess the performance improvements introduced by our optimized methods; experimental results on real-life datasets and network traffic show that the classification model successfully achieves significant accuracy improvement.

Purpose – This paper aims to examine the potential impact of the presence of oil resource on the Ghanaian society. Specifically, the paper investigates the relationship between key stakeholders in the oil sector, how stakeholder interactions create the potential for collision and advances measures aimed at turning possible collision into cooperation. Design/methodology/approach – The paper uses a literature review-based approach, drawing on existing literature in a number of areas including corporate social responsibility (CSR), oil and gas industry in Ghana and Nigeria as well as communication. Findings – The paper advances that expectations of stakeholders as regards oil being a panacea to all their problems must be managed to avoid possible collision. Additionally, Ghana’s oil industry must identify and engage all stakeholders in planning suitable and sustainable CSR programmes for economic development, thus fostering a friendly environment for oil companies. Transparency and accountability are also needed to promote cooperation rather than collision among stakeholders in Ghana’s oil industry. Originality/value – This paper raises and brings to the fore critical issues that can lead to potential collisions in the oil and gas industry in Ghana if not well-managed, and thus an innovative work in that regard.

<p>Castilla-La Mancha (CLM), located in South-Central Spain, is a region of some 80,000 Km<sup>2</sup> centered in agricultural and livestock activity, being the first major producer of wine and second of olive oil in Spain (after Andalucía), and an important producer of sheep cheese and lamb meal. Besides, the region has supported an important metallic mining activity, including mercury and base metals; these mines, most of them located in the West of the region, are actually closed, but still an important number of industrial minerals (limestone and gypsum as most important, but also other salts and clays varieties) are active in the central and Eastern part of the region.</p><p>Up to date, CLM does not have generic reference levels (GRLs) for elemental concentrations; neither it has a distribution map of potentially toxic elements (PTEs) along its territory. These are actually basic needs for regions with economy based on agriculture and livestock.</p><p>The project BiGeoQCLM, funded by Consejería de Educación, Cultura y Deportes, Regional Government of CLM, is aimed to obtain a portrait of the distribution of elements in the whole region; the information to collect is aimed to three main objectives: (1): characterize the elemental distribution, including the estimation of GRLs, and the delimitation of the distribution of elements, and in particular of PTEs in the mining areas; together with this, the characterization of the soils of the region, including the distribution of their pedological parameters (2): characterize the soil-to-organisms interactions, including microbiology (through enzymatic activity) and plants (through characterization of elemental plant uptake; and (3): the characterization of the elemental uptake by plants aimed to assess the origin of wine, including the isotopic footprint of soils and wines with certified origin.</p><p>The project is in its second year (of three) of development and the work in activity is still mostly related with the field and laboratory work. However, some results are available, and are being presented in other communications of this Conference. In particular, the activity in the South-West of the region, which was the richest in metals-based mining, has been boosted with the starting of the AUREOLE project, funded by European ERA-MIN program, and aimed to find new criteria for the research of Sb and related elements, as well as with the environmental concerns related with the mining of such elements.</p><p>This study is being funded by Consejería de Educación, Cultura y Deportes, JCCM (SBPLY/17/180501/000273), with the additional support of project PCI2019-103779, Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation.</p>

Purpose Corporate social responsibility (CSR) has become an issue in the international banking industry, where each bank must assert its stakeholders, the social fabric and the natural environment. In the same time, legitimacy which has become one of the most critical issues for corporations, can be increased in the eyes of other stakeholders or institutions by structurally or procedurally adjusting to institutional influences. By conforming to three external institutional pressures (normative, mimetic and coercive), identified by DiMaggio and Powell (1983), organizations can build, support and gain legitimacy for their activities in specific institutional environments. Design/methodology/approach Using a qualitative approach, this research highlights the input of neo-institutional theory in the CSR context in top Lebanese banks in Lebanon. Findings This paper aims to analyze the impact of neo-institutionalism and the role of stakeholders in legitimizing CSR practices in the Lebanese banking sector. Practical implications Top Lebanese banks cannot simply comply with institutional pressures to gain their legitimacy, they need to develop their CSR activities targeted toward legitimacy-building at the local level; as for managers they cannot simply adopt managerial perspectives instrumentally to gain societal support, they need to adapt such perspectives and practices to the local needs as expressed by their internal and external stakeholders. Originality/value Managers of top Lebanese banks need to proactively engage in managing institutional pressures by adopting and adapting legitimacy-seeking strategies. This study highlights that top Lebanese banks differ in their CSR orientation because of their ownership structure, number of employees and profitability.
