Management of diabetes mellitus is a challenge for clinicians. Uncontrolled hyperglycemia increases the risk of microvascular and macrovascular complications, damaging the body systems.  Although a number of antidiabetic drugs are available for therapeutic intervention, toxicity, loss of efficacy in chronic use and high cost of treatment have necessitated the search for new molecules to manage diabetes. Safety and cost are the main prerequisite for the new antidiabetic molecules. Medicinal plants and their purified phytochemicals have shown promising antidiabetic potential in the past few years. The flavonoids can be widely classified into different categories like anthocyanins, catechins, flavanols, flavones, flavanones etc. Some flavonoids have hypoglycemic properties. They may improve al-tered glucose and oxidative metabolisms of diabetic states. The hypoglycemic effect of some herbal extracts has been confirmed in human and animal models of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). Some of the important phytoconstituents from the classes of flavonoid have been discussed here. The current review summarizes the  antidiabetic activity of flavonoids, the mechanism-based action of flavonoids that target the various metabolic pathways in humans. Abstract: One of the subdistricts in Magelang regency which has a problem with the Diabetes Mellitus Disease in the Sawangan District, especially in the area of Sawangan Public Health Center, namely Kalangan, Gondowangi Village. So as the resolve this problem must be done various efforts of early detection in solve the problem of Diabetes Mellitus. One of the solutions to solve this problem is the dissemination as early detection and utilization of Diabetes Mellitus herbal plants. With the socialization and utilization of herbal medicinal plants on Diabetes Mellitus, it is expected that the community can pay attention to healthy lifestyles in the future, reduce the incidence of Diabetes Mellitus in the community and can take advantage of herbal treatments around the house so that people are not dependent on chemical or synthetic treatments that have side effects in the body.     Keywords: diabetes mellitus; early detection; herbal medicinal plants Abstrak: Salah satu Kecamatan yang ada di Kabupaten Magelang yang terdapat masalah Diabetes Mellitus yaitu Kecamatan Sawangan khususnya di wilayah kerja Puskemas Sawangan II yaitu Dusun Kalangan desa Gondowangi. Sehingga untuk mengatasi hal tersebut harus di lakukan berbagai upaya Deteksi Dini dalam mengatasi masalah Diabetes Mellitus. Salah satu dalam mengatasi masalah tersebut di lakukan sosialisasi sebagai bagian deteksi dini Diabetes Mellitus dan pemanfaatan tanaman herbal Diabetes Melitus. Dengan di adakannya sosialisasi dan pemanfaatan tanaman obat keluarga (TOGA) tentang Diabetes Melitus di harapkan mayarakat kedepannya dapat memperhatikan pola hidup sehat, mengurangi kejadian penyakit Diabetes Melitus di masyarakat dan dapat memanfaatkan pengobatan herbal di sekitar rumah agar masyarakat tidak ketergantungan dengan pengobatan kimia atau sintetik yang mempunyai efek samping dalam tubuh. Kata kunci: deteksi dini; diabetes mellitus; tanaman obat keluarga

Background: In recent times much is talked about of serum ferritin, an acute phase reactant a marker of iron stores in the body and its association with diabetes mellitus. Studies implicate that increased body iron stores and subclinical hemochromatosis has been associated with the development of glucose intolerance, type 2 diabetes and its micro as well as macrovascular complications. Material & Methods: This study was carried out to examine and to observe for any relationship between serum ferritin with Type 2 diabetes mellitus. Our study populations were included 163. Among them 81 type 2 diabetes patients as a case (M=49,F=32, mean 44.68 age in years)and 82 normal healthy individual as a control ( M=35, F=47 , mean 34.71 in years). Results: Majority were healthy outpatients who had come for regular checkup and were matched with controls. Serum ferritin and FBS were estimated and other investigations. Results showed that although Serum ferritin was in the normal range value it was increased in type 2 diabetes patients than in controls and was statistically significant, we did get a positive correlation with duration of diabetes. It can be concluded that there were positive associations between serum ferritin and FBG, age, sex among study groups. Conclusion: In conclusion our study shows that there is significant correlation between increased serum ferritin in diabetes compared to individuals with normal blood sugars in this part and hyper ferritinemia may be one of the causes for development of insulin resistance before overt diabetes. Diabetes Mellitus is the most prevalent metabolic disorder which has made it a major health threat worldwide. The available synthetic drugs for the cure of Diabetes mellitus are associated with high cost, various side effects and several limitations. Medicinal plants are the rich depots of the phytochemicals which can be useful for the treatment of chronic disorders. These plants are the better alternative to chemical drugs causing less or no harm to the body. Several plants are traditionally known for their antidiabetic properties but the detail investigation of their active molecules is required in order to be developed as therapeutic drug. Therefore, the present review aims to provide comprehensive information on various Indian medicinal plants, their constituents and mechanism of action for the cure of diabetes mellitus.

Diabetes Mellitus is a chronic disease caused by abnormal working insulin, insulin secretion or both so that the body tends to have high glucose levels. Type 2 diabetes mellitus can cause elevated levels of LDL and cholesterol. Risks obtained by fetuses with type 2 diabetes can be in the form of macrosomia due to hyperglycemia and hyperinsulin in the body of the fetus. Insulin is the first choice pharmacological therapy for type 2 DM that can be given during pregnancy. Non-pharmacological therapy as recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO) on a healthy diet by increasing consumption of fruits and vegetables. Good fruit consumed for pregnant women with diabetes mellitus (DM) type 2 is tomatoes (Solanum lycopersicum L). The purpose of this study was to determine the administration of tomato extract (Solanum lycopersicum L) and insulin can affect glucose levels, LDL levels, cholesterol levels and birth weight of white wistar galur (Rattus norvegicus) pregnant women with type 2 diabetes mellitus models. experimental design using the pre post test only control group design and post test only control group design. Termination was done on the 17th day of pregnancy and then followed by measurements of LDL levels, cholesterol and birth weight. Data analysis using the One Way Anova test and Kruskal Wallis then continued with the Post Hoc test using. The results showed that there were significant differences between glucose levels, LDL levels, cholesterol levels and BW born in the insulin treatment group and the tomato juice treatment (p value = 0.00 <α = 0.05). The conclusion of giving insulin and tomato juice affects a decrease in glucose levels, LDL levels, cholesterol levels and birth weight.

Background: Diabetes Mellitus is a chronic condition, which occurs because the body cannot produce insulin, normally or insulin cannot work effectively. Objective: To determine the effectiveness of the rational administration of antidiabetic, oral treatment of diabetes mellitus patients at the age of 30-50 years type 2 in Deli Serdang Hospital, lubuk pakam in 2020. Method: This study is a non-experimental type of research using descriptive methods. Results: Shows that from 72 samples of Type II Diabetes Mellitus patients at Deli Serdang General Hospital, April-July Period 2020. With the number (52.8%) of male sex patients and the number (47.2%) of type patients  female genitalia and antidiabetic drugs most widely used by patients, in the period of April-July 2020, namely (20.8%) glycionion + metformin and (20.8%) insulin drugs.  the use of DM drugs with the right rational indication (65.3%), Rational with the right medicine (100%), rational with the right dosage (100%), the right rational patient (100%) and the rational way of administration (100:%). Conclusion: Evaluation of drug use is a structured quality assurance process that is carried out continuously to ensure that the drugs used are appropriate, safe, and efficient.

Low caloric diet is used in the complex treatment of patients with diabetes mellitus and obesity. However, the reduced caloric food can inadvertently lead to decreased intake of micronutrients. The main goal of the research was to assess the necessity and effectiveness of the vitamin-mineral complex in the treatment of type 2 diabetes with obesity. Methods: 80 females suffering from type 2 diabetes and obesity, ranging from 40 to 65 years old participated in the study. The total patients were divided into two groups, each containing 40 patients. All patients were given a personalized diet and 1000mg of metformin every day. The experimental group, besides that, received vitamin-mineral complex. The biochemical analysis of the blood, composition of the body, and the complaint on micronutrient deficiency were taken before the experiment and after 14 days of the therapy. Results: Supplementation of the vitamin-mineral complex was associated with higher blood serum levels of vitamins B6, B12, B9, C, D, potassium, calcium, magnesium and zinc, and lower levels of glucose. Clinical manifestations, associated with micronutrient deficiency, were significantly decreased in patients who were given vitamin-mineral complex. All these changes were valid both in relation to the initial level in the study group and to the indicators after treatment in the control group. Conclusion: Micronutrient supplements may be a very important part of the combined therapy of patients with diabetes mellitus and obesity.

Introduction: Diabetes is a chronic disease that occurs when not enough insulin is produced by the pancreas or the body does not use the insulin produced. Because of increased blood glucose levels in the body, serious heart, kidneys, blood vessels, nerves and eyes damage are caused. Report says about 400 million people suffer from diabetes. Therefore present study is aimed to assess levels of HbA1c, Lipid profile and Cyclophilin A in diabetic patient. Material and Methods: The present study includes total 126 subjects comprising of 66 type 2 Diabetes Mellitus patients and 60 healthy individual. Blood samples are collected from the all subjects were processed for HbA1c, Lipid Profile and Cyclophilin A estimation, from OPD and General Medicine Wards. HbA1c is estimated by HPLC, lipid Profile by AU480 and the Cyclophilin A by ELISA method using commercially available Qayee-bio ELISA kit. Conclusion: Present study showed significantly increased levels of HbA1c, Lipid Profile and Cyclophilin A in T2DM patients. The elevated lipid profile may be due to the complication of Diabetic mellitus. CyA is increased as an inflammation marker. Objects: The study's purpose was to see if there was a link between netrin.1 and type II diabetes patients. Methodology: The present study carried out on (45) patients affected with diabetes mellitus from (120) persons were examined in the education of Diwaniyah hospital from 6th September to the 4th December 2020. The study includes measurement of the body mass index, fasting blood glucose level, HbA1c, lipid profile and level of netrin-1. Results: Our findings were revealed the netrin-1 level was significantly lower in the diabetes (1205.36±753.09) compared to control group (1477.79±700.26; P < 0.01). Our observations were appeared Significantly higher levels of blood cholesterol, TG, LDL, and VLDL-C and In diabetes individuals, there was a significant drop There was a 0.05 difference in HDL-C levels when compared to healthy controls. Conclusion: These findings indicate that low netrin1 concentration in serum are strongly linked to the occurrence of type II diabetes.
