Abstract: One of the subdistricts in Magelang regency which has a problem with the Diabetes Mellitus Disease in the Sawangan District, especially in the area of Sawangan Public Health Center, namely Kalangan, Gondowangi Village. So as the resolve this problem must be done various efforts of early detection in solve the problem of Diabetes Mellitus. One of the solutions to solve this problem is the dissemination as early detection and utilization of Diabetes Mellitus herbal plants. With the socialization and utilization of herbal medicinal plants on Diabetes Mellitus, it is expected that the community can pay attention to healthy lifestyles in the future, reduce the incidence of Diabetes Mellitus in the community and can take advantage of herbal treatments around the house so that people are not dependent on chemical or synthetic treatments that have side effects in the body.     Keywords: diabetes mellitus; early detection; herbal medicinal plants Abstrak: Salah satu Kecamatan yang ada di Kabupaten Magelang yang terdapat masalah Diabetes Mellitus yaitu Kecamatan Sawangan khususnya di wilayah kerja Puskemas Sawangan II yaitu Dusun Kalangan desa Gondowangi. Sehingga untuk mengatasi hal tersebut harus di lakukan berbagai upaya Deteksi Dini dalam mengatasi masalah Diabetes Mellitus. Salah satu dalam mengatasi masalah tersebut di lakukan sosialisasi sebagai bagian deteksi dini Diabetes Mellitus dan pemanfaatan tanaman herbal Diabetes Melitus. Dengan di adakannya sosialisasi dan pemanfaatan tanaman obat keluarga (TOGA) tentang Diabetes Melitus di harapkan mayarakat kedepannya dapat memperhatikan pola hidup sehat, mengurangi kejadian penyakit Diabetes Melitus di masyarakat dan dapat memanfaatkan pengobatan herbal di sekitar rumah agar masyarakat tidak ketergantungan dengan pengobatan kimia atau sintetik yang mempunyai efek samping dalam tubuh. Kata kunci: deteksi dini; diabetes mellitus; tanaman obat keluarga

Many people choose alternative medicines for Diabetes Mellitus (DM) disorders, such as herbal plants to suppress the occurrence of the disease widely. In general, DM occurs when the pancreas doesn't produce enough insulin, or when the body can't effectively use the insulin which it produces. The use of medicinal plants to treat various diseases has shown minimal side effects. Indonesia is one of the countries that has used plants as traditional medicine since ancient times. In Indonesia, thousands of species of medicinal plants have been studied to address health problems. Among the medicinal plants that have been studied is the Neem plant (Azadirachta indica A. Juss) which has been shown to cure various diseases. This review article describes the potential of the Neem plant as an antidiabetic. The results of this literature review, in the form of Neem herbal extracts, have quite good potential as an antidiabetic because they contain several compounds such as meliacinolin, azachdirichtin, gliserid oil, acetyl oxyturanoe acid and other compounds that can also act as antidiabetic.

Management of diabetes mellitus is a challenge for clinicians. Uncontrolled hyperglycemia increases the risk of microvascular and macrovascular complications, damaging the body systems.  Although a number of antidiabetic drugs are available for therapeutic intervention, toxicity, loss of efficacy in chronic use and high cost of treatment have necessitated the search for new molecules to manage diabetes. Safety and cost are the main prerequisite for the new antidiabetic molecules. Medicinal plants and their purified phytochemicals have shown promising antidiabetic potential in the past few years. The flavonoids can be widely classified into different categories like anthocyanins, catechins, flavanols, flavones, flavanones etc. Some flavonoids have hypoglycemic properties. They may improve al-tered glucose and oxidative metabolisms of diabetic states. The hypoglycemic effect of some herbal extracts has been confirmed in human and animal models of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). Some of the important phytoconstituents from the classes of flavonoid have been discussed here. The current review summarizes the  antidiabetic activity of flavonoids, the mechanism-based action of flavonoids that target the various metabolic pathways in humans. Abstrak: Diabetes melitus banyak ditemukan di negara berkembang, dengan konsekuensi cukup seringnya pasien diabetes yang berkunjung ke tempat praktek dokter gigi. Diabetes melitus merupakan penyakit yang kompleks dengan berbagai tingkat komplikasi sistemik dan pada rongga mulut. Jaringan periodonsium juga merupakan sasaran kerusakan akibat penyakit diabetes melitus. Beberapa tahun terakhir ini, hubungan antara periodontitis dan diabetes melitus telah dikemukakan. Dengan demikian penanganan gigi dan mulut yang tepat pada pasien dengan riwayat diabetes mellitus perlu ditingkatkan.Kata kunci: diabetes melitus, penyakit periodontal, penanganan gigi dan mulut Abstract: Diabetes mellitus is pandemic in both developed and developing countries. As a consequence, diabetic patients are commonly encountered in the dental office. Diabetes mellitus is a complex disease with varying degrees of systemic and oral complications. The periodontium is also a target for diabetic damage. In recent years, a link between periodontitis and diabetes mellitus has been postulated; therefore, a proper dental management in diabetic patients has to be improved. Diabetes Mellitus is the most prevalent metabolic disorder which has made it a major health threat worldwide. The available synthetic drugs for the cure of Diabetes mellitus are associated with high cost, various side effects and several limitations. Medicinal plants are the rich depots of the phytochemicals which can be useful for the treatment of chronic disorders. These plants are the better alternative to chemical drugs causing less or no harm to the body. Several plants are traditionally known for their antidiabetic properties but the detail investigation of their active molecules is required in order to be developed as therapeutic drug. Therefore, the present review aims to provide comprehensive information on various Indian medicinal plants, their constituents and mechanism of action for the cure of diabetes mellitus.

AbstractDiabetes melitus is a metabolic disease characterized by high blood glucose levels in the body, caused by abnormalitized in insulin secretion. One of the non-pharmacological method to reduce blood sugar level is progressive muscle relaxation therapy. This study aims to identify the effect of progressive muscle relaxation techniques in lowering blood sugar. A literature review of studies of progressive muscle relaxation therapy in reducing blood sugar publishedin 2011-2020 was conducted. The average number of respondents was 26 male and female responden with and average age of 55-60. The results showed that progressive muscle relaxation therapy was able to control blood glucose among diabetic. This study concludes that progressive muscle relaxation therapy effectively reduce blood sugar levels in patients with diabetes melitus. The findings suggest that progressive muscle relaxation therapy can be used as non-pharmacological therapy to lower blood sugar levels.Keywords: Diabetes mellitus; Progressive muscle relaxation AbstrakDiabetes melitus merupakan suatu penyakit degeneratif yang bermasalah pada sistem metabolik ditandai dengan meningkatnya kadar gula darah dalam tubuh dan disebabkan karena kelainan sekresi insulin. Pada pasien diabetes melitus akan mengalami peningkatan kadar gula darah dalam tubuh, salah satu cara non farmakologis yang dapat dilakukan untuk menurunkan kadar gula darah pada pasien diabetes melitus yaitu dengan terapi relaksasi otot progresif. Tujuan dari Karya Tulis Ilmiah ini yaitu untuk mengetahui gambaran dari pengaruh teknik relaksasi otot progresif terhadap penurunan kadar gula darah pada pasien diabetes melitus. Metode yang dilakukan dengan mencari tiga jurnal penelitian tentang pengaruh terapi relaksasi otot progresif terhadap penurunan kadar gula darah pada pasien diabetes melitus terbit pada tahun 2011-2020. Hasil analisa karakteristik responden dari ketiga jurnal menunjukan jumlah responden rata-rata 26 responden laki-laki dan perempuan dengan usia rata-rata 55-60 tahun. Hasil yang didapatkan setelah dilakukan terapi relaksasi otot progresif kadar gula darah pasien menjadi terkontrol. Simpulan dari karya tulis ilmiah ini yaitu terapi relaksasi otot progresif efektif terhadap penurunan kadar gula darah pada pasien diabetes melitus. Saran bagi perawat atau penderita diabetes melitus terapi relaksasi otot progresif dapat digunakan sebagai terapi non farmakologis untuk menurunkan kadar gula darah pada pasien diabetes melitus. Introduction: Indonesia is ranked 4th in the world for the number of diabetics according to WHO, and most of diabetics experience complications, one of which is ulcer diabetikum. This can be a trigger for the emergence of body image disorders from diabetics, so researchers need to know the picture of ulcus sufferers' body image to later be mapped and make it easier in subsequent handling. The research objective is to describe the image of body image in patients with diabetes mellitus with ulcus complications. Physical changes in the body can affect body image and self-esteem Methods: Design of this study used a descriptive research design, the population in this study were all patients who have diabetes mellitus with ulcus diabeticum in Ibnu Sina Hospital Gresik regency with a sample of 20 respondents, samples were taken by using purposive sampling technique. Data collection using questionnaires with 15 multiple choices question. Furthermore, the data were analyzed with coding, scoring, tabulating presentatif, and described. Results: The results showed a total of 20 respondents obtained ii'om 5 respondents (25%) have a good body image, 7 respondents (35%) had a poor body image and 8 respondents (40%) who did not have a good body image.  Conclusion: Based on the results of this study indicate that in patients with diabetes mellitus who are already experiencing complications of ulcus diabetic almost half of respondents do not have a good body image, and a small proportion of respondents have a good body image. This is due to several factors, namely the respondents admitted that the wounds on his legs is a sign of personal failure on him therefore to improve body image and the changing assessment of the physical condition and provide social support.

Abstract: Diabetes mellitus is a group of chronic metabolic disease which can affect nearly every organ system in the body. Complications of this disease are diverse and include retinopathy, nepropathy and neuropathy. It has a high prevalence and continued to increase. The relationship between diabetes mellitus and hearing loss have been studied. This study aimed to obtain the average of hearing threshold in patients with diabetes mellitus. This was a descriptive observational study with a cross sectional design. Total 38 diabetes mellitus patients were included in the study. Hearing threshold obtained based on air conduction pure tone audiometry average at 500, 1000, 2000, and 4000 Hz. The results showed that subjects were 65.8% females and 32.4% males. There were 9 subjects (23.6%) with normal hearing, 24 subjects (63.2%) with bilateral hearing loss, and 5 subjects (13.2%) with unilateral hearing loss. Of the 29 subjects with hearing loss, the levels were mild and moderate. None of the subjects had moderately severe, severe, or profound. Conclusion: The majority of subjects in this study had hearing loss.Keywords: diabetes mellitus, hearing threshold, pure tone audiometryAbstrak: Diabetes melitus merupakan suatu kelompok penyakit metabolik kronik yang dapat mempengaruhi hampir setiap sistem organ dalam tubuh. Komplikasi penyakit ini beragam, termasuk retinopati, nefropati dan neuropati. Prevalensinya cukup tinggi dan diperkirakan akan terus meningkat. Terdapat beberapa penelitian yang menghubungkan diabetes melitus dan gangguan pendengaran. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui ambang pendengaran rata – rata pada penderita diabetes melitus. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif observasional dengan desain penelitian potong lintang. Sampel total ialah 38 pasien diabetes melitus. Ambang pendengaran rata – rata diperoleh berdasarkan hantaran udara audiometri nada murni rata-rata pada frekuensi 500, 1000, 2000, dan 4000 Hz. Hasil penelitian memperlihatkan bahwa subjek penelitian 65,8% perempuan dan 34,2% laki – laki. Terdapat 9 orang (23,6%) yang mempunyai pendengaran normal, 24 orang (63,2 %) mengalami gangguan pendengaran bilateral dan 5 orang (13,2%) dengan gangguan pendengaran unilateral. Dari 29 subjek penelitian dengan gangguan pendengaran mengalami gangguan pendengaran kategori ringan dan sedang. Tidak ditemukan subjek penelitian dengan gangguan pendengaran kategori sedang berat, berat atau sangat berat. Simpulan: Mayoritas subjek penelitian mengalami gangguan pendengar.Kata kunci: ambang pendengaran, audiometri nada murni, diabetes melitus

Accumulating evidences have reinforced the use of medicinal plants in the treatment of various ailments as a result of negative side effects associated with conventional drugs. Plant components such as phenols and flavonoids with antioxidant potential have confirmed protective roles against oxidative stress-induced degenerative diseases like diabetes mellitus (DM). The current study was carried out to investigate the effect of seed pod ethanol extract from Copaifera salikounda (SPEECS) in alloxan-induced diabetic rats. SPEECS was obtained by maceration of seed pod powder in absolute ethanol for 72 h, filtered, concentrated and dried in-vacuo. Gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC–MS) technique was used to quantitatively elucidate the chemical constituents of SPEECS. Twenty-four male albino rats were randomly allocated into four groups (n=6): normal control, DM control, DM + 200 mg/kg SPEECS and DM + 400 mg/kg SPEECS groups. DM was induced in the Wistar albino rats through intraperitoneal injection of 200 mg/kg body weight of alloxan. After 14 days of treatment, the body weight changes and the fasting blood glucose level were determined in the different groups. Also, serum biochemical parameters such as alanine aminotransferase (ALT), aspartate aminotransferase (AST), alkaline phosphatase (ALP), albumin (ALB), total protein (TP), malondialdehyde (MDA), superoxide dismutase (SOD) and catalase (CAT) were estimated. The GC-MS results confirm nine bioactive compounds with 9-octadecenoic acid (55.75%) being most abundant. SPEECS (200 and 400 mg/kg) administration significantly (P 0.05) caused gain in weight, decreased fasting blood glucose and reversed the elevated liver function enzymes (ALT, AST, ALP) while total TP and ALB were markedly elevated relative to DM control group. Furthermore, SPEECS attenuated the activities of SOD and CAT while the level of MDA was significantly (P 0.05) decreased in dose dependent manner in comparison to the DM control. This study indicated that SPEECS can alleviate hyperglyceamia of DM. Key words: Copaifera salikounda; oxidative stress; medicinal plants; diabetes mellitus; phytochemicals; orthodox ANTIDIABETIČNI UČINEK EKSTRAKTA ETANOLA Copaifera salikounda (HECKEL) NA SLADKORNO BOLEZEN, SPROŽENO Z ALLOXAN-om, PRI PODGANAHIzvleček: Obstaja vedno več dokazov, ki poudarjajo uporabnost zdravilnih rastlin pri zdravljenju različnih bolezni, tudi zaradi različnih negativnih stranskih učinkov, povezanih s konvencionalnimi zdravili. Rastlinske sestavine kot so fenoli in flavonoidi z antioksidativnim potencialom, imajo po nekaterih raziskavah zaščitno vlogo pred degenerativnimi boleznimi, ki jih povzroča oksidativni stres, kot je sladkorna bolezen diabetes mellitus (DM). Študija je bila izvedena z namenom raziskovanja učinka etanolnega semenskega ekstrakta iz rastline Copaifera salikounda (SPEECS) pri podganah s sladkorno boleznijo, ki jo je povzročil alloxan. SPEECS je bil pridobljen z maceracijo praška semen v prahu v absolutnem etanolu 72 ur ter nadaljnjo filtracijo, koncentracijo in sušenjem v vakuumu. Za kvantitativno ugotavljanje kemijskih sestavin SPEECS je bila uporabljena tehnika plinske kromatografije in masne spektrometrije (GC-MS). Štiriindvajset samcev podgan Wistar je bilo naključno razporejenih v štiri skupine (n=6): normalna kontrola, kontrola DM, DM + 200 mg/kg SPEECS in DM + 400 mg/kg SPEECS. DM je bil pri podganah sprožen z intraperitonealno injekcijo 200 mg/kg telesne mase alloxana. Po 14 dneh zdravljenja so bile pri različnih skupinah določene spremembe telesne teže in nivo glukoze v krvi (na tešče). Poleg tega so avtorji raziskave izmerili še nekatere serumske biokemične parametre kot so ravni alaninske aminotransferaze (ALT), aspartatne aminotransferaze (AST), alkalne fosfataze (ALP), albumina (ALB), skupnih proteinov (TP), malondialdehida (MDA), superoksiddismutaze (SOD) in katalaze (CAT). Rezultati GC-MS so v izvlečku SPEECS pokazali devet bioaktivnih spojin, v katerih je največ 9-oktadecenojske kisline (55,75%). SPEECS (200 in 400 mg/kg) je povzročil znatno (P 0,05) povečanje telesne mase, znižanje glukoze v krvi na tešče in znižal raven encimov pokazateljev jetrne funkcije (ALT, AST, ALP), medtem ko je bila raven TP in ALB pri podganah, ki so prejemale SPEECS izrazito povišana v primerjavi z DM kontrolno skupino. Zdravljenje s  SPEECS je tudi oslabilo aktivnosti SOD in CAT, medtem ko se je raven MDA znatno zmanjšala (P 0,05) v primerjavi s kontrolno skupino DM. Kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk memberikan pengalaman pribadi bagi santri, ustadz dan ustadzah Pondok Pesantren Aliyah Nurul Islam Sekarbela dalam menerapkan pola hidup sehat dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Adapun tahap-tahap pelaksanaan kegiatan pengabdian ini meliputi tahap pendahuluan berupa kegiatan pembukaan dan tahapan inti berupa pemberian materi tentang tananam-tanaman herbal dan pola hidup sehat, dan pembuatan minuman sehat. Kegiatan ini diikuti oleh 45 santri. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa santri sangat aktif dalam diskusi selama penyampaian materi, dan antusiasn dalam pembuatan minuman dan penanaman tanaman obat. Berdasarkan hasil kegiatan yang dilakukan, dapat disimpulkan bahwa pengetahuan santri akan pola hidup sehat dan tanaman obat kesehatan keluarga yang dapat berperan sebagai imunomodulator dalam upaya meningkatkan system imunitas ditemukan meningkat.Independent Health Empowerment of Santri through Toga Cultivation Technology Based on Increasing Immunity at the Aliyah Nurul Islam Islamic Boarding School SekarbelaAbstractThis service activity aims to provide personal experiences for santri, ustadz and ustadzah of the Aliyah Nurul Islam Sekarbela Islamic Boarding School in implementing a healthy lifestyle in everyday life. The stages of the implementation of this service activity include the preliminary stage in the form of opening activities and the core stage in the form of providing material on herbal plants and healthy lifestyles, and making healthy drinks. This activity was attended by 45 students. The results of the activity showed that the students were very active in discussions during the delivery of the material, and were enthusiastic in making drinks and planting medicinal plants. Based on the results of the activities carried out, it can be concluded that the knowledge of students about healthy lifestyles and family health medicinal plants that can act as immunomodulators in an effort to increase the immune system was found to be increasing.
