AbstractThe article hosts Bosnia-Herzegovina and Colombia as transition cases that seek to move from conflict to peacebuilding. Although both are characterized by similarities that make them experiences of reflection and learning, the same does not happen with the configuration of forgiveness when the end of the conflict is decreed. From a qualitative methodology mediated by the historical hermeneutic approach, the review of doctrinal documentary sources and narratives was carried out in chronicles with the aim of proposing a theoretical reflection of forgiveness. The reflection allows to demonstrate a greater preponderance of the configuration of forgiveness in the literary narratives of the Colombian chronicle as an initiative of the victims that has intensified with the post-agreement.Keywords: forgiveness, conflict, Colombia, Bosnia and Herzegovina.ResumoO artigo dá as boas vindas à Bósnia e Herzegovina e à Colômbia como casos de transição em que é uma questão de passar do conflito para a construção da paz. This article is focused on the identities of peoples, a matter of current relevance, among other reasons because it is linked to the issue of nationalisms. We adopt a uniform and essentialist conception of the being of each people, particularly in dictatorial regimes. This way of conceiving identity is characterized by its consideration of history, ethnic heritage, language, values - considered to be eternal - , together with heroes and their symbols, as the pillars that support it; this is what is called an essentialist identity. We use the three volumes of the Álvarez Encyclopedia as documentary sources. The qualitative methodology used is of a hermeneutical nature, taking into account the contributions of the historical method. The main objective of this research is to reveal what was considered the essence of being Spanish in the Álvarez Encyclopedia, which was the most widely used textbook in the primary schools under the Francoist regime. The textbooks analyzed served as instruments for shaping and conforming children in the ideals of the moment, that is, in  national-Catholicism.

This study focused on intimate partner violence (IPV) in relationships in the Bindura urban of Zimbabwe. IPV exert a long-term influence in relationships. One of the most dangerous forms of violence is performed by an intimate partner. People in relationships experience all forms of IPV such as physical, emotional, economic, and sexual. Violence is often perpetrated against an intimate partner as a way of showing systematic patterns of dominance and control. Qualitative methodology was used in this study. Data was collected through key informant interviews, focus group discussions and documentary sources. The research concludes that intimate partner violence impacts survivors' immediate sexual, physical and psychological health and increases the risks of longer-term health problems and social stigma.

The novel COVID-19 pandemic has ravaged the entire world and its far reaching impacts have been felt across different regions and sectors world-over. Similarly, the Zimbabwean public sector has been equally affected by this pandemic. Using a qualitative methodology the research interrogates the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic and proffers ways to deal with its impacts on the Zimbabwean public sector. Data was extensively collected from documentary sources such as books, journals, government publications etc. The study established that the Zimbabwean Health Sector (ZHS) is completely overwhelmed by the pandemic, that there is a decrease in revenue collection, poor social accountability, and corruption and that frontline employees and those working in environments that are exposed to the virus are psychologically affected. The research recommends that the government should capacitate the ZHS, revitalise industries and harnessing small to medium enterprises, embrace open Information Technologies (I.T) in parliamentary activities, strengthen the Watchdog institutions and create sustainable conducive working conditions for all.

Abstract Pointing to the subjective nature of human life, theorists argue that only in a dialogue with another person does the human disclose meanings important to him or her. The interpretation and analysis of stories with regard to the included subjective meanings included in them as manifestations of human subjectivity seem to be the most effective when undertaken in the hermeneutic approach where psychology and philosophy meet. In the paper advantages of a self-narrative method based on the principles of hermeneutic psychology have been presented. This method has been applied to analyse the stories told by ten persons of senior age and obtained through a narrative interview. This analysis has served to verify the mentioned method, to recognise the respondents′ subjective world of meanings as well as to deepen the reflection on the subjective nature of human life. The exemplary analysis of two out of ten self-narratives obtained in the research have been presented in the article. Similarly to the theoretical reflection included in the text, the research results join the ongoing discussion in contemporary psychology over the legitimacy of the use of qualitative methods.

This paper aims to present the origin and evolution of hospital emergency services through the Emergency Service of the Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau de Barcelona, as it is the centre that has best preserved information about its own process, its evolution as a hospital and its adaptation to social change.A very particular characteristic of this hospital is that it managed to integrate its users as part of the management board at a time when the country was in the middle of a democratic transition after forty years under a dictatorship. For the realization of this paper, we have used the qualitative methodology has been used, in particular, Heidegger's hermeneutical phenomenology, so as to triangulate documentary analysis with open interviews with relevant people about the historical process being studied, and to obtain the resulting document. A descriptive work, with a completely objective, historical account. The existence of this article cannot be explained without considering the importance of certain documentary sources that remain, so far, largely unexplored, such as the archives of the neighbourhood associations of Barcelona and the impact of social movements in achieving the creation of new health services, their maintenance and surveillance, and the promotion of their development according to the needs of each historical moment. That would be the main conclusion.

Abstract Post-conflict contexts demand various actors and actions to build peace, resolve the consequences of the conflict and generate agendas to ensure non-repetition. Among these actors are companies that, thanks to their institutional capacities, can carry out a variety of actions and practices aimed at building peace. Background: Evidence on youth suicides from Southeastern Europe is scarce. We are not aware of previous reports from Bosnia and Herzegovina, which experienced war from 1992 to 1995. Durkheim’s theory of suicide predicts decreased suicide rates in wartime and increased rates afterward. Aims: To compare child and adolescent suicides in Bosnia and Herzegovina before and after the war. Methods: Data on youth suicide for prewar (1986–90) and postwar (2002–06) periods were analyzed with respect to prevalence, sex and age differences, and suicide methods. Suicide data from 1991 through 2001 were not available. Results: Overall youth suicide rates were one-third lower in the postwar than in the prewar period. This effect was most pronounced for girls, whose postwar suicide rates almost halved, and for 15–19-year-old boys, whose rates decreased by about a one-fourth. Suicides increased among boys aged 14 or younger. Firearm suicides almost doubled proportionally and were the predominant postwar method, while the most common prewar method had been hanging. Conclusions: The findings from this study indicate the need for public education in Bosnia and Herzegovina on the role of firearm accessibility in youth suicide and for instructions on safe storage in households. Moreover, raising societal awareness about suicide risk factors and suicide prevention is needed.

Abstract. Background: The Veterans Health Administration (VHA) health-care system utilizes a multilevel suicide prevention intervention that features the use of standardized safety plans with veterans considered to be at high risk for suicide. Aims: Little is known about clinician perceptions on the value of safety planning with veterans at high risk for suicide. Method: Audio-recorded interviews with 29 VHA behavioral health treatment providers in a southeastern city were transcribed and analyzed using qualitative methodology. Results: Clinical providers consider safety planning feasible, acceptable, and valuable to veterans at high risk for suicide owing to the collaborative and interactive nature of the intervention. Providers identified the types of veterans who easily engaged in safety planning and those who may experience more difficulty with the process. Conclusion: Additional research with VHA providers in other locations and with veteran consumers is needed.
