The article discusses the image of a dragon in the poetry of N. Gumilev. New in the work is the hypothesis on the intertextuality of the poems by N. Gumilyov “The Poem of the Begining” and A. Tolstoyʼs “Dragon”. The Chinese subtext of the image of the dragon in the poetry of N. Gumilev is grounded. The relevance of the topic is due to the development of the study of the mutual perception of Russian and Chinese cultures in the space of a poetic text. At the same time, the problem of reception of the image of China in the poetry of the Silver Age remains not yet fully understood. The objectives of the study were to identify, describe and interpret the Chinese subtext of the image of the dragon in the poetry of N. Gumilev; consideration of the authorʼs reception; comparing the perception of the image of the dragon in the culture of Russia and China. The results of the study showed: the frequency of the image of the dragon in the poetry of N. Gumilyov, the poet’s use of this image as originally Chinese; the relationship of the description of the image of the dragon in the works of N. Gumilyov and A. Tolstoy; the poet’s appeal to Chinese mythology and hieroglyphic writing. The author’s reasoning and conclusions are based on critical research, a comparison of two cultures. An analysis of the poetic works of N. Gumilev was carried out in a semantic aspect using the method of text parallels. The study of the image of the dragon in the poetry of N. Gumilev allows to approach the worldview of the culture of the Silver Age on one more side.

This paper describes an international biosolids management initiative, known as the Australian and New Zealand Biosolids Partnership (ANZBP). The ANZBP - known formerly as the Australasian Biosolids Partnership – comprises 33 members dedicated to promoting the sustainable management of biosolids across the two nations. Two critical research projects are described, each of which contributes to the ANZBP goal of promoting the sustainable management of biosolids. The first is a review of community attitudes to biosolids management, the outcomes of which will be used to refine communication tools and methods of community consultation and which will provide input to policy development over time. The second is a review of regulations in place in Australia and New Zealand carried out to identify inconsistencies and improvements that could be made. An outcome of this initiative is potentially the development of a best practice manual. The relationship of the two projects to a sustainability framework adopted by the ANZBP is also described, as is the relationship of the two projects to each other.

This article reviews the image of China in Konstantin Balmont’s poem “The Great Nothing”. Significant attention is given to interpretation of the poem. The author refers to the cultural and historical realias of China, as well as mythology and philosophy. Genesis of the image of Zhuang Zhou and peculiarities of his perception by the poet is revealed. The goal of this work consists in determination of semantic saturation of the image of China in reception of Konstantin Balmont. The line of reasoning and conclusions of the author of this article are founded on the critical research and contrast of two cultures. Analysis of the poem is conducted from the semantic perspective with search for textual parallels. The study reveals the poet's reference to the traditions and philosophy of China ("Sunyata”, concept of symmetry, treatise “Zhuang Zhou”, concept of Chinese painting), use of mythopoetic images (Dragon, Unicorn, Phoenix); interprets the image of dragon and its variation in cultural tradition of Russia and China; defines the words used by the poet for describing linguistic realias of Chinese culture (the expression "Go West"). The novelty of this research consists in the analysis of K. Balmont’s reception, and identification of the source that motivated the poet to create a poem. Examination of the semantic  saturation of the image of China in the poetry of K. Balmont gives a new perspective upon understanding the culture of the Silver Age.

Linguistic research is based on two principles: the specific and the general. The specific aspect is ‎linked to the fact that linguistics is considered as an autonomous science having its ‎scientific ‎ characteristics which distinguish it from other human sciences. And given its particular interest in ‎language, it has its internal and external foundations and its own objectives. It describes the ‎structure of the language, seeks to know its secrets, explores its rules which control its fundamental ‎structure, and among other things delves into its sound, structural and semantic characteristics in ‎order to put a set of universal rules.‎ As for the general aspect, it is linked to the relationship existing between linguistics and the ‎other sciences: a relationship of mutual influence.‎ Linguistic research has played a major role in the institution of contemporary Arab critical ‎terminology starting from its beginning in the 1960s.‎ Critical research aims to institute critical terminology according to a system influenced by the ‎descriptive approach in the institution of thematic and conceptual oriented terminology.‎ This article aims to highlight the collaborative relationship between linguistic research and ‎critical research. So what are the limits of this collaboration, What are the linguistic bases of terminology according to the perception of Mahmoud Fahmy ‎Hegazy in his The Linguistic Foundations of Terminology as a model reflecting the efforts of ‎Arabs in the field of critical linguistics‎.

Organizational culture is crucial for all living institutional structures and has become a critical research topic. Although different variables have been investigated in the literature as predictors of organizational culture, to our knowledge, the role of social values and life skills as mediators hasn’t been investigated before. This study, therefore, aims to investigate the role of social values and life skills as mediators of organizational culture. The hypotheses of the research were tested in the context of this research aim. The present study, which is in the relational survey model, included 370 participants consisting of teachers and school leaders working in 22 different educational institutions. The findings showed that teachers and school leaders had high levels of organizational culture, social values, and life skills. The relationship of organizational culture with social values and life skills is meaningful and high. Also, the findings indicate a partial effect on mediating organizational culture between social values and life skills.

This paper aims at elaborating the relationship of translation, culture, and identity. Translation is one means of cultural development. It adopts not only from other elements, but also from other culture to be dialogued and equivalented with the target culture. Within this "taking" and "giving" process the identity of a culture is laid. Historically speaking, translation has proved its great role in human civilization since Ancient Greek. Through translation the contact between two cultures can benefit one another in many ways. This contact involves at least two processes; dialogue of language and of thought. One critical issue in terms of cultural development, which is found through out history, is that translation involved a nation in the process.

Science and art are two of the most significant facets of human endeavour, with astronomy occupying a key role within science. Despite C.P. Snow’s Two Cultures, there are many common aspects and each has an influence on the other. A brief analysis is made of the relationship of art and science: the effect of art on science and science on art. Some outstanding problems are identified.

The Mesozoic-Cenozoic coral Order Scleractinia has been suggested to have originated or evolved (1) by direct descent from the Paleozoic Order Rugosa or (2) by the development of a skeleton in members of one of the anemone groups that probably have existed throughout Phanerozoic time. In spite of much work on the subject, advocates of the direct descent hypothesis have failed to find convincing evidence of this relationship. Critical points are:(1) Rugosan septal insertion is serial; Scleractinian insertion is cyclic; no intermediate stages have been demonstrated. Apparent intermediates are Scleractinia having bilateral cyclic insertion or teratological Rugosa.(2) There is convincing evidence that the skeletons of many Rugosa were calcitic and none are known to be or to have been aragonitic. In contrast, the skeletons of all living Scleractinia are aragonitic and there is evidence that fossil Scleractinia were aragonitic also. The mineralogic difference is almost certainly due to intrinsic biologic factors.(3) No early Triassic corals of either group are known. This fact is not compelling (by itself) but is important in connection with points 1 and 2, because, given direct descent, both changes took place during this only stage in the history of the two groups in which there are no known corals.
