This case describes the implementation of an online travel management system at FED-AK, the Alaska office of a U.S. government agency. The previous system was intended to accomplish the same functionality, but due to employee resistance, it was used only as a forms generator in conjunction with a paper- and mail-based process. The new system is integrated, which compels employees to use all the functionality provided. It also incorporates many lessons learned from the old system—in particular, extensive training and online help functions. The system is expected to significantly reduce the cost of travel by minimizing errors, enforcing policies, and reducing transaction costs. The system will also lead to faster reimbursement of employee travel expenses.

This article is focused on the analysis and solution of the issue of a printing system model in a large organization. It provides an overview of the current stat29e of the organization and its current printing system. Based on the information about strengths and weaknesses, the most suitable solution for the given organization was designed and subsequently implemented. The created design meets all the requirements required by the company, while minimizing the threats that the deployment of the new system and the resulting changes may have. The work also describes various ways of dealing directly with change, whether when dealing with the old printing system or preparing employees for its change. The new system brings clear unification of the press, its monitoring and administration under the supervision of its own employees without the need for external companies or support.

Unlike past studies that have focused on the economic issues about rural collectives, this article reexamines the economic management of rural collectives by paying attention to both their economic and political attributes. Because of the land reform and the rebuilding of grassroots social structures under the leadership of the CCP, the intermediary organization connecting the state and the rural population underwent a transition from village/lineage communities (“the enlarged private”) to rural collectives (“the enlarged public”), hence the transformation of the “third realm” from the private to the public spheres at the grassroots level. The reform era since the 1980s, however, has witnessed the dual weakening of both the “enlarged private” and the “reduced public” in the third realm because of reforms in rural management and land systems. The “two-in-one” formation of state-society relations will be maintained in rural governance in the next two or three decades, which necessitates the reconstruction of the rural governance system through the rebuilding of the collective economy.

Embedded devices are confined to be agents although they have been deployed in network management system for decades. We shed light on this situation by designing and implementing a new full-featured embedded network management system. On one hand, this system can still be an agent; on the other hand, this system provides a friendly GUI and I/O devices such as mouse and keyboard, which allows administrators to conveniently monitor and configure the managed equipment. The new system is developed on ARM with Linux using multithreading method, and it is deployed on ROADM equipment in optical network. SNMP is applied to be the network management protocol.

This paper presents the rationale behind the utilization of a Moodle Learning Management System for the facilitation of a blended learning approach in the Informatics department. The authors present and analyze the steps followed in order to replace the prior decentralized organizational structure of the courses, which consisted of a multitude of different and incompatible systems. The main goal was to implement a single system, which would be easy to operate, maintain, and update, and would cater to the variety of instructor and student needs. Furthermore, evaluation data of the new system is presented in detail. The analysis of the results serves to confirm the success of this department-wide migration.
