Introduction: Pediatric obesity is an increasingly prevalent problem. Several studies have examined prevention and treatment strategies. The majority of effective studies involved school or community interventions. With health care becoming more collaborative, we hypothesized that a behavioral health specialist may be effective in executing multifaceted interventions with families of at-risk patients. Methods: This is a prospective randomized study, evaluating impact of intervention with a behavioral specialist on lifestyle risk factors for pediatric obesity in children. At-risk behaviors were identified with a screening tool from the Healthy Kids, Healthy Michigan Clinical Decision Tools, based on the 2007 American Academy of Pediatrics guidelines on pediatric obesity. An intervention group received ongoing care from the behavioral specialist over three months, including motivational interviewing and cognitive behavioral therapy. Participants were compared with a control group receiving usual care. Results: There was no significant difference between the intervention and control group regarding change in number of risk factors. However, both groups had a reduced number of risk factors at follow-up. The control group had a significant change in number of risk factors after the intervention. Conclusion: There was no statistically significant difference between the two groups. However, it is notable that both groups saw significant decreases in total number of risk factors. The only addition to usual care provided to the control group was use of the screening tool. Our results indicate that the use of a screening tool and brief physician intervention may be an effective means for improving healthy behaviors within families.

Background and objective:    Drug abuse is one of the diseases that are highly dependent on individual behaviors and social interactions. This disease can be created in places like military garrisons due to their relationship with such behaviors. Therefore, soldiers and staffs are at risk of drug abuse. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of prevention training program of drug abuse on reducing risk factors in soldiers and staffs in Iran.Methods:In this quasi-experimental interventional study, 392 soldiers and staffs in two military garrisons in Khorasan Razavi (Intervention group 242 and control group 150) were randomly conducted to training program. The data collection tools were questionnaire of identifying people in risk of addiction, life skills questionnaire and demographic variables. The questionnaires were completed as self-report. Educational content was consisted of seven training sessions (60-minute) that only applied in the intervention group. 45 days after the last training session, educational software was distributed as a reminder in the intervention group. The two groups were followed up three months after the intervention. Finally, the data were analyzed using SPSS version 16.Results:  The findings showed that there was no significant difference between the two groups in demographic variables (Pvalue>0.05). The mean scores for risk factors on drug abuse after training program (Depression and feeling of inability, Positive attitude toward drug abuse and Anxiety and fearing of others) were significantly improved in the intervention group (Pvalue<0.05). Also, life skills variables except the problem solving skill (Pvalue>0.05) had a significant change after intervention in the intervention group (Pvalue<0.05).Conclusion:The findings indicated that the prevention training program of drug abuse based on life skills training could reduce the risk factors of drug abuse for soldiers and staffs in military garrisons.

e24021 Background: The Geriatric 8 (G8) is a simplified screening tool to select the appropriate elderly patients for chemotherapy. Vulnerable patients with impaired G8 score might need additional comprehensive geriatric assessment (CGA) with intervention for individual problem. However, the impact of CGA and therapeutic intervention on rate of complete chemotherapy among these patients is rarely addressed. This study aims to evaluate the benefit of CGA guided intervention. Methods: A single center, randomized, open-label study which included newly diagnosed elderly cancer patients (age ≥ 65) with impaired G8 score (≤ 14) who were designated for chemotherapy. After the enrollment, patients were randomized to 1:1 ratio to receive CGA guided intervention (intervention group) or usual care (control group). The primary end point was the rate of complete chemotherapy at 90-day. Associated factors for complete chemotherapy were evaluated. Results: Between June 2019 and December 2019, 52 patients were randomized (26 patients for intervention group and 26 patients for control group). Mean age was 72 years, 59.6% was female, 40.4% had breast cancer and 51.9% had early stage cancer. With G8 assessment, 55.8% had intermediate (score 11-14) and 44.2% had low (score < 11) impaired G8 score. All baseline characteristics were balanced. Using per protocol analysis, there was no significant difference in rate of complete chemotherapy between groups (61.9% vs 50%, OR 1.63; 95%Cl 0.51-5.23; p = 0.42). Considering subgroup analysis in the intermediate G8 score patients, the intervention group had a significant higher rate of complete chemotherapy than control group (81.8% vs 66.7%, OR 2.71; p = 0.02), but no significant difference in low G8 score group (40% vs 27.3%, OR 1.78; p = 0.58). In univariate analysis, age below 75 years, BMI > 20 kg/m2 and intermediate G8 score showed significant factors for improving rate of complete chemotherapy. Conclusions: This is the first study in south-east Asia using CGA and intervention to improve rate of completion in chemotherapy. Although the CGA and intervention had no significant difference but had tendency to be better in completion rate of chemotherapy than usual care. The intermediate-impaired G8 score subgroup is more likely to benefit from CGA guided intervention for complete chemotherapy as planned.

Abstract Objective To investigate the effects of preoperative fasting abbreviation with a carbohydrate and protein-enriched solution, on postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV) incidence in gynecological surgery patients, a population naturally at risk for such unpleasant episodes. Methods The present prospective double-blind randomized study was performed at The Hospital Municipal e Maternidade Dr. Odelmo Leão Carneiro (HMMOLC, in the Portuguese acronym), in Uberlândia, state of Minas Gerais, Brazil, in partnership with the Gynecology Department of the Universidade Federal de São Paulo (UNIFESP), approved by the Human Research Ethics Committee of UNIFESP and the board of HMMOLC, and included in the Brazil Platform and in the Brazilian Clinical Trial Registry. After signing the consent form, 80 women, who were submitted to gynecological surgery in the period from January to June 2016, were randomized into 2 groups: control group (n = 42) and juice group (n = 38). They received, respectively, 200 mL of inert solution or liquid enriched with carbohydrate and protein 4 hours presurgery. The incidence, frequency and intensity of PONV were studied using the Visual Analogue Scale (VAS), with statistical analysis performed by the software IBM SPSS Statistics for Windows, Version 20.0 (IBM Corp, Armonk, NY, USA). Results The incidence of nausea and vomiting was lower than in the literature, to this population, with 18.9% (14/74) for the control group and 10.8% (8/74) for the juice group, respectively, with no statistically significant difference between the groups. Conclusion The incidence of nausea and vomiting was lower than in the literature, but it cannot be said that this is due to the abbreviation of fasting. It can provide greater comfort, with the possibility of PONV prevention in patients at risk for these episodes.

Background: Anxiety is commonly experienced during the delivery process and has been shown to have adverse effects on maternal and infant health outcomes. Music interventions tend to mitigate the effects of anxiety in a variety of populations, are low-cost and easily accessible, and have high acceptability. The aim of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of music intervention on expectant mothers’ vital signs and anxiety levels during cesarean section. Methods: This study is a single-center, controlled, randomized study. The women in the intervention group listened to music via earpieces during the operation. The control group received standard treatment without music. Cesarean section was performed under regional anesthesia. The State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI) was administered to the patients before and after the operation. Results: There was no significant difference between the pre- and postoperative systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure, heart rate, respiratory rate, or O2 saturation parameters of the music group and the control group (p>0.05). The pre-operative STAI anxiety score was similar in the music (45.58±4.60) and control (43.82±4.33) groups (p=0.183). After the operation, the anxiety score of the music group (35.88±5.39) was found to be statistically significantly lower than the anxiety score of the control group (42.14±3.75) (p<0.001). Conclusion: This study supports the hypothesis that slow, rhythmic Sufi music during cesarean section can reduce patients’ anxiety. It is possible to distract the patient from negative thoughts and reduce stress. The results show that patients who listened to music during surgery had significantly lower anxiety levels than patients who did not listen to music.

OBJECTIVE/BACKGROUND: This research objective was to examine the effect of music intervention on perceived stress among English education students. METHOD: Out of 200 students surveyed, 56 English education undergraduate students who were having high-stress level participated in the study. The 56 eligible participants were randomized into one of two study groups: music intervention group (n = 28) and waitlist control group (n = 28) using computer-generated random numbers. All participants completed baseline evaluation and posttests at 4, 8 and 12 weeks. Participants completed the Perceived Stress Scale. The statistical tool used for data analysis was within and between ANOVA. RESULT: There was a significant difference in perceived stress between English education students in the music intervention group and waitlisted group. Significant reduction in the level of perceived stress among English education students was observed in the music intervention group, but the waitlisted group demonstrated no significant reduction in their stress score both at 4, 8 and 12 weeks posttests respectively. CONCLUSION: Music intervention is an effective means of handling stress among English education students. Further studies are required to investigate the role of music therapy in burnout reduction among English education students in Nigerian universities.

IntroductionAdolescence and its importance in the growth and spread of risky behavior theorists and researchers Mvrdtvjh Humanities is located. Among the risky behaviors of substance abuse behaviors in adolescence and early adulthood is still one of the most common problems are communities.AimsThe purpose of the present research was to study the effects of life skills training on reducing individual risk factors of drug abuse among secondary school students.MethodsIn the first phase 636 secondary students at risk were selected by cluster random sampling and answered to risk factors and protective questionnaires. The data were analyzed by correlation coefficients and multi variable regression. The results indicated the following predictive factors: attitude, self- management, social empowerment, family and school ties.ResultsIn the second phase based on the results of the first phase by pre- and post- test methods 80 secondary students were selected and divided to case and control groups at random. After performing pre-test for both groups, the case group attended 10 training section. After wards post- test was performed for both. The data analyzing using covariance (comparing post- tests regardless of the pre-test effect) indicated effectiveness af skills training on individual abuse factors. These factors showed significant difference comparing to control group after intervention.ConclusionsThus it can be concluded that training life skills in the high risk group can have positive effect on individual abuse variables and reduce the possibility of drug abuse in future among them.

Mother-infant attachment is an intimate, lasting and satisfying relationship that leads to better cognitive, emotional and social growth of the infant. The aim of this study was to determine the effects of breastfeeding training by role-play on mother-infant attachment behaviours. This research was a randomised clinical trial (parallel design). Inclusion criteria were: no history of mental disorders; ability to read and write the Persian language to complete the questionnaire; no history of drug and tobacco intake in primigravida women. The sample comprised 100 pregnant women (in 2 groups), selected through simple random sampling at healthcare centres. The researcher reviewed prenatal care registries of selected healthcare centres and extracted the names of pregnant women in their early third trimester. The data were imported into randomisation software. The control group received routine breastfeeding training, while the intervention group received routine training together with training through role-play. The data collection tool was the Maternal Behaviour Inventory Questionnaire. Consequently 75 samples were analysed in SPSS16. Independent t-tests and chi-square tests were used to examine the difference between the two groups. Results showed that the mean score of mother-infant attachment one week after delivery was significantly higher in the intervention group in comparison to that in the control group (p<0.001). No significant difference was observed between the two groups in maternal age, age of marriage, neonatal gender, maternal employment and education, number of parity, and number of abortions (P>0.05). Since breastfeeding training through role-play could affect mother-infant attachment, it is suggested that this type of training should be provided for pregnant women to promote mother-infant attachment and exclusive breastfeeding.

Background: Surgery is one of medical interventions which can cause fear, anxiety, and stressed because of its effects toward the integrity of body and soul. Nurses have significant roles in any preoperative care which is helping patients to decrease preoperative anxiety by using complementary therapy. The use of music therapy as one of the complementary therapies is not common in Indonesia. Therefore, scientific studies to prove the role of this therapy to decrease the level of anxiety of pre-operative patients is needed. Objective: To investigate the effects of music therapy in reducing anxiety levels of preoperative patients. Methods: A quasy experimental study with pre-test and post-test design with control group was applied to 50 respondents from medical ward in Panembahan Senopati Hospital of Yogyakarta who met the inclusion criteria.Dara were then analyzed by using t-test statistical analysis. Results: The control group showed the increased value of anxiety level of0.8 without music intervention (t= - 1503, df = 24, p<.05), whereas the intervention group showed the decreased value of anxiety level of -5.52 (t=5.081, df=24, p<.05). Meanwhile the independent t-test results for both groups showed a significant difference between group (t= 3,373, df=48, p<.05). Conclusion: Music therapy has significant effect in reducing preoperative anxiety levels of patients. Keywords: anxiety, preoperative, music therapy

Background: Pain control is considered as the key issue in modern midwifery. Along with medical painkillers, reflexology is viewed as a non-medical and noninvasive method. Hence, we aimed to investigate the effect of reflexology on the intensity of pain and length of labor. Materials and Methods: In this clinical trial, participants included 240 Iranian primiparous women with term and singleton pregnancy. Having a 3-4 cm cervical dilatation once they visited the hospital. Through a convenient sampling method, they were selected and then randomly divided into two groups. In the intervention group, reflexology was performed, and the intensity of pain during the active phase of labor along with the length of labor in the active phase was measured by visual analog scale (VAS) and compared with the control group. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, and Mann-Whitney U-test. Result: Data analysis showed a statistically significant difference between the intensity of pain in the 5-7 and 8-10 cm dilatation in the two groups (P=0.01). Moreover, the labor length in the active phase was found to be significantly shorter in the intervention group (P<0.001). Conclusion: It appears that reflexology can lead to a reduction in the pain and length of labor. Therefore, through instructing this technique, a goal of midwifery, which is reducing labor pain and its length can be achieved. Keywords: Reflexology, Labor Pain, Labor Length, Primiparous Women

                The evolution of information technology has exerted great influence on nursing education via new pedagogy of knowledge delivery without time and place restriction. Mobile technology revolutionises nursing education and clinical practice via empowering skills of critical thinking and clinical decision-making through learning. The aim of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of using mobile messenger (Whatsapp) as an educational supporting tool among nursing students. The study design used is a Cluster Randomized Control Trail. Two nursing colleges were selected. Sample size was 93 participants, 48 from the Kuala Terengganu Nursing College Kuala Terengganu as the intervention group while the control group were recruited among 45 participants from UniSZA Nursing College. There is a significant difference in the level of knowledge between pre and posttest among intervention group (mean difference was -8.70 with a standard deviation 8.42, p-value< 0.001) and 93.8 percent of the respondents perceived the usefulness of using WhatsApp mobile messenger to enhance learning. This demonstrates that learning through mobile messenger (WhatsApp) enhances learning and is well received as a new method of learning by almost all students.   Keywords: Mobile learning, WhatsApp messenger, Social Interaction
