The purpose of this research is to improve the understanding of how users of online virtual worlds learn and/or relearn ‘culture' through the use of visual components. The goal of this research is to understand if culturally and historically authentic imagery is necessary for users to understand the virtual world; how virtual world residents form and reform their virtual culture; and whether the visual culture in the virtual world is imported from the real world, colonized by any dominate culture, or assimilated into a new culture. The main research question is: Is the authenticity of cultural imagery important to virtual world residents? This research investigates whether visual culture awareness can help students develop a better understanding of visual culture in the real world, and whether this awareness can help educators construct better curricula and pedagogy for visual culture education.

Nowadays, in order to maintain strong and stable position on the market, companies shall know and apply many rules. One of them is R&D (Research and Development) activity. This means that entrepreneurs striving to maintain their competitive advantage are forced to continuous improvement of R&D activity. The management of the enterprise in an appropriate manner is also very important. Taking into consideration the importance of R&D in achieving business success, it seems reasonable to study this area continuously. Therefore, in this paper an econometric analysis of the impact of three selected factors, on the level of internal expenditure on R&D in enterprises in Poland, in the years 2007–2014 with regard to territorial division was proposed. The group of selected factors include: research units in the business sector, net profit of enterprises and number of employees in R&D sector. The main purpose of consideration is to answer the following research question: “Which of the studied factors is the most significant?” The article is divided into four parts. The first presents the theoretical analysis of R&D activities, the second one shows the issue of R&D management in enterprises. In the third part of the article the aspect of the model construction was discussed, while the last of the paper contains the results of the model estimation. The fundamental research question from which this paper is going to be - is there an alternative to alternative education? Alternative schools are in the pedagogical and didactical understanding of teaching, often far ahead of their time, sometimes too far. They offer something new and different, much better than traditional classes. Starting from the central location of students in the curriculum, up to curriculum development and teaching classroom design, this school offers us another option - an alternative. This paper represents selected alternative schools and the answer to the research question, and it is in differentiation. Differentiated school is the third alternative and the side by side with alternative schools brings something new and special. The methodology derives from the twenty-day observation of the teaching and the overall work of the gender-differentiated school with teacher interviews. In this qualitative research, the work of the male school that works on the principle of gender differentiation was analyzed and the specialties that this school achieved are described. The most important of them is the principle of work in a homogenous environment and a mentoring system that reinforces the underlying idea of better education. The specialties of gender differentiation are presented and its place in other possibilities of differentiation. The whole work presents a comparative analysis of alternative schools and differentiation and a conclusion about the greater success of such models compared to traditional schools.

This article describes compound nouns in English and Uzbek, their specific pragmatic aspects. Although the problem of compound nouns in linguistics has been studied by many linguists, there are many unsolved problems in comparing compound words in languages ??and analyzing them from a pragmalinguistic point of view. The compound word, which has a special place in the richness of language vocabulary, is in fact a convenient way of naming in simple terms the concepts of events that take place in reality, of existing objects. Hence, it can be concluded that the study of semantic, grammatical and syntactic features of language alone is not enough. As a result, the field of "pragmatics" has found its place in linguistics, having its own goals and objectives. In addition, the article also uses analysis from examples from the literature to reveal the pragmatic nature of compound words. However, scientific examples have shown that no sign is a leading factor in determining the nature of compound words.

Quantitative risk management techniques should prove their efficacy when financially turbulent periods are about to occur. Along the common saying “who needs an umbrella on a sunny day?”, a theoretical model is really helpful when it carries the right suggestion at the proper time, that is when markets start behaving hecticly. The beginning of the third decade of the 21st century carried along a turmoil that severely affected worldwide economy and changed it, probably for good. A consequent and plausible research question could be this: which financial quantitative approaches can still be considered reliable? This article tries to partially answer this question by testing if the mean-variance selection model (Markowitz [16], [17]) and some of his refinements can provide some useful hints in terms of portfolio management.

In this study researchers content coded advertising images in traditional and nontraditional women's magazines in 1959, 1969, 1979 and 1989 to determine the impact of the feminist movement on consumer imagery. This timeframe allowed analysis from several historical vantages: 1959 (pre-feminist movement), 1969 (developing feminist ideology), 1979 (social implementation of ideology), 1989 (post feminist movement). The data were analyzed from the perspective of three major variables, the first being time (a specific decade); the second being magazine type (traditional or nontraditional women's magazines); and the third being product category. The study answers a primary research question: To what extent do ads in women's magazines (traditional and nontraditional) reflect the goals of the second feminist movement? A secondary research question is explored: Are advertising and the feminist movement incompatable, thus dooming “feminist publications” depending on ad dollars to demise?

In this study, the main research purpose was to determine whether artistic components of interior design in a store lead consumers to have different perceptions of the store. There were three main research questions. The first was whether consumers perceived the artistic components in a store visually. Second, based on the first research question, this study explored whether the artistic displays at the show window, around the furniture, and around the stairs were associated with consumers’ perceptions of the store as environmental-friendly. The third research question explored how the consumers’ perceptions of artistic and environment-friendly components were associated with the conventional marketing performance of the store. The 2 Stages Probit Least Squares (2SPLS) method was utilized to answer the first and second research questions and the 2 Stage Least Squares (2SLS) method was utilized for the third research question. Findings indicated that consumers had significant emotional responses from seeing artistic components in a store. In addition, these perceived art elements were associated with marketing performances, including pro-environmental perception, store differentiation, brand image, and consumer satisfaction. The practical implications were included in the discussion.
