IntroductionAs there is no single unique identifier for Australians across government datasets, commonwealth and state data must be brought together using data integration methods. The ABS has developed the Person Linkage Spine (the 'Spine') as an enduring piece of data linking infrastructure that is the core of the Multi-Agency Data Integration Project (MADIP) data asset, and is used to combine person-centred datasets. Objectives and ApproachThe Spine was created using a staged deterministic linkage process combining three core datasets: Medicare Consumer Directory, Social Security and Related Information, and Personal Income Tax. The Spine aims to broadly cover all people resident in Australia at any point during the reference period of 2006 to 2019. The Spine is used in combination with anonymised name and address history information from the core datasets to facilitate linkage of datasets to the Spine from any time period within its scope. The Spine was recently updated with new data from the core datasets in a 'Spine Maintenance' process, a key part of which involves the use of graph based methods to identify spine elements requiring updating in the new version. Spine Maintenance was conducted in such a way as to ensure consistency between Spine versions, enabling linkages to be conducted and retained across different versions of the Spine, whilst still allowing for improvements to the Spine based on updated information. This talk will focus on the methodological challenges associated with creating, using and maintaining the Person Linkage Spine. ResultsThe Spine has been successfully utilised as the core of the MADIP data asset, enabling valuable longitudinal person centred analysis. Conclusion / ImplicationsThe Spine has created a foundational linking infrastructure which is a sound basis for extending across time (longitudinally) and expanding to include datasets from across a broad range of sectors and jurisdictions.

SUMMARY Audit quality is dependent on the experience and effort of the audit team to identify and respond to client risks (risk responsiveness). Central to each team are the core role holders who plan and execute the audit. While many studies treat the partner as the primary core role holder, the manager and auditor-in-charge (AIC) are also important. Using data for engagements from two midtier firms, we analyze the association between the experience and relative effort of the manager and AIC and risk responsiveness. We find a manager's client-specific experience is associated with risk responsiveness for non-listed clients but find no evidence that the general or industry experience of a manager, or the experience of the AIC, is associated with risk responsiveness. The client-specific experience and relative effort of the partner is associated with risk responsiveness. These results suggests that managers can provide an important, albeit limited, contribution to the audit. JEL Classifications: M2. AbstractThe protein content of urinary extracellular vesicles (EVs) is considered to be an attractive non-invasive biomarker source. However, little is known about the consistency and variability of urinary EV proteins within and between individuals over a longer time-period. Here, we evaluated the stability of the urinary EV proteomes of 8 healthy individuals at 9 timepoints over 6 months using data-independent-acquisition mass spectrometry. The 1802 identified proteins had a high correlation amongst all samples, with 40% of the proteome detected in every sample and 90% detected in more than 1 individual at all timepoints. Unsupervised analysis of top 10% most variable proteins yielded person-specific profiles. The core EV-protein-interaction network of 516 proteins detected in all measured samples revealed sub-clusters involved in the biological processes of G-protein signaling, cytoskeletal transport, cellular energy metabolism and immunity. Furthermore, gender-specific expression patterns were detected in the urinary EV proteome. Our findings indicate that the urinary EV proteome is stable in longitudinal samples of healthy subjects over a prolonged time-period, further underscoring its potential for reliable non-invasive diagnostic/prognostic biomarkers.

Abstract Background Leprosy in children under 15 years of age, and in particular, the presence of leprosy grade 2 disability (G2D) in children, signifies ongoing transmission and the need for improved surveillance. Our objective was to describe the epidemiology of pediatric leprosy in Minas Gerais, Brazil and to explore associations with access to medical facilities. Methods A cross-sectional study was conducted using data from the Brazilian Notifiable Diseases Surveillance System (SINAN) from 2002–2017. Incident cases were included if they resided in a municipality with both adult and pediatric cases. Municipalities were divided by the number of medical facilities per municipality: < 5, 5–17, and 18 or higher. Analyses compared pediatric cases across two time periods (2002–2009 and 2010–2017) and number of medical facilities / municipality using chi-square, t-tests, and logistic regression. Results A total of 27,725 cases were reported with 1,611 under 15 years of age. Overall incidence declined from 34.8 per 100,000 to 13.6 per 100,000 during the study period with pediatric incidence declining from 2.6 per 100,000 to 0.8 per 100,000. Time period 2 (TP2) showed an increase in the proportion of pediatric G2D (2.58% vs 1.91%, p < 0.0001) when compared to time period 1 (TP1). Mean age of diagnosis in children was younger in TP2 then in TP1 (10.06 vs 10.43, p=0.02). In 2017, the pediatric incidence in municipalities with the fewest medical facilities was 0.95 per 100,000 compared to 0.23 per 100,000 in municipalities with > 5 facilities (p=0.009). There was significantly higher odds of disability at diagnosis (grades 1 and 2) in pediatric cases residing in municipalities with < 5 medical facilities (aOR 1.88; 95% CI 1.37–2.59), adjusted for age and sex. Furthermore, the average age of diagnosis in children should increase, not decrease, if M. leprae transmission was truly declining. Lastly, the association between fewer municipality health facilities and increased disability suggest barriers to timely diagnosis and a critical area of focus for research into access to healthcare and leprosy risk. Gunung Kawi Temple is one of the most monumental archaeological remains in Bali originating from the 10th to 11th century. This study aims to determine the values of local wisdom of ancient Balinese society related to the construction and presence of Gunung Kawi Temple. Data were collected through literature study and observation. Analysis was conducted through qualitative approach using data integration and explanation based on theory. Explanation is presented in narrative text. The results of this study indicate that the construction using the concept of cliff temple is an adaptation in addressing the limitations of geography and material resources. This adaptation is a form of ancient Balinese society local wisdom. This local wisdom is also reflected on the environmental preservation value which is related to the function of Gunung Kawi Temple as a religious sacred building. Keywords: gunung kawi, cliff temple, local wisdom, adaptation, enviromental preservation. Kompleks Candi Gunung Kawi merupakan salah satu tinggalan arkeologi paling monumental di Bali yang berasal dari abad ke-10 sampai 11 Masehi. Kajian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui nilainilai kearifan lokal masyarakat Bali Kuno yang terkait dengan pembangunan dan keberadaan Kompleks Candi Gunung Kawi. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui studi kepustakaan dan observasi. Analisis dilakukan melalui pendekatan kualitatif dengan pengintegrasian data dan memaparkan simpulan-simpulan berdasarkan teori. Pembahasan kemudian disajikan dalam bentuk teks naratif. Hasil kajian ini menunjukkan bahwa pembangunan dengan konsep candi tebing merupakan bentuk adaptasi dalam menyikapi keterbatasan geografi dan sumber bahan baku. Adaptasi tersebut merupakan salah satu wujud kearifan lokal masyarakat Bali Kuno. Kearifan lokal tercermin juga dari nilai pelestarian lingkungan yang terkait dengan fungsi Kompleks Candi Gunung Kawi sebagai bangunan suci keagamaan.

Background American Indian adults have a higher risk of atrial fibrillation (AF) compared with other racial groups. We implemented opportunistic screening to detect silent AF in American Indian adults attending a tribal health system using a mobile, single‐lead ECG device. Methods and Results American Indian patients aged ≥50 years followed in a tribal primary care clinic with no history of AF underwent a 30‐second ECG. A cardiologist overread all tracings to confirm the diagnosis of AF. After AF was confirmed, patients were referred to their primary care physician for initiation of anticoagulation. Patients seen over the same time period, who were not undergoing screening, served as controls. A total of 1019 patients received AF screening (mean age, 61.5±8.9 years, 62% women). Age and sex distribution of those screened was similar to the overall clinic population. New AF was diagnosed in 15 of 1019 (1.5%) patients screened versus 4 of 1267 (0.3%) patients who were not screened (mean difference, 1.2%; 95% CI, 0.3%–2.2%, P =0.002). Eight of 15 with new screen‐detected AF were aged <65 years. Those with screen‐detected AF were slightly older and had a higher CHA 2 DS 2 ‐VASc score than those without AF. Fourteen of 15 patients diagnosed with new AF had a CHA 2 DS 2 ‐VASc score ≥1 and initiated anticoagulation. Conclusions Opportunistic, mobile single‐lead ECG screening for AF is feasible in tribal clinics, and detects more AF than usual care, leading to appropriate initiation of anticoagulation. SUMMARYUsing data from a cohort study conducted by the Veterinary Laboratories Agency (VLA), evidence of spatial clustering at distances up to 30 km was found for S. Agama and S. Dublin (P values of 0·001) and borderline evidence was found for spatial clustering of S. Typhimurium (P=0·077). The evolution of infection status of study farms over time was modelled using a Markov Chain model with transition probabilities describing changes in status at each of four visits, allowing for the effect of sampling visit. The degree of geographical clustering of infection, having allowed for temporal effects, was assessed by comparing the residual deviance from a model including a measure of recent neighbourhood infection levels with one excluding this variable. The number of cases arising within a defined distance and time period of an index case was higher than expected. This provides evidence for spatial and spatio-temporal clustering, which suggests either a contagious process (e.g. through direct or indirect farm-to-farm transmission) or geographically localized environmental and/or farm factors which increase the risk of infection. The results emphasize the different epidemiology of the three Salmonella serovars investigated.

This article analyzes the effects of diversification and brand breadth on firm performance for professional service firms (PSFs). The research aim is two-fold. First, we test whether moving into products may put at risk the core resources that sustain PSFs’ competitive advantage. Second, we study which branding strategies best match their diversification attempts. Broad (narrow) brands characterize a branding strategy with scarce (plentiful) associations to specific product characteristics. We analyzed trademark portfolios of 47 U.S.-based management consulting firms in the 2000 to 2009 time period. Panel regression results suggest that (1) PSFs always benefit from diversification when they remain pure-service providers; (2) performance is positively related to a strategy of specialized narrow brands.

Abstract The Rapid Earthquake Data Integration project is a system for the fast determination of earthquake parameters in northern and central California based on data from the Berkeley Digital Seismic Network and the USGS Northern California Seismic Network. Program development started in 1993, and a prototype system began providing automatic information on earthquake location and magnitude in November of 1993 via commercial pagers and the Internet. Recent enhancements include the exchange of phase data with neighboring networks and the inauguration of processing for the determination of strong-motion parameters and seismic moment tensors.
