A field experiment was conducted during rainy season (June to October, 2019) at College of Agriculture, Rajendranagar, Professor Jayashankar Telangana State Agricultural University, Rajendranagar, Hyderabad, Telangana State, India to find the effect of sowing windows and nitrogen levels on yield, nutrient uptake and post-harvest soil nutrient status of browntop millet. The experiment was laid out in randomized block design with factorial concept and replicated thrice. Treatments consisted of four sowing windows (June 15th, June 30th, July 15th and July 30th) and four nitrogen levels (0, 20, 40 and 60 kg ha-1). Among sowing windows, June 15th recorded higher growth parameters (plant height, leaf area and dry matter production), yield attributes (panicles hill-1, panicle length, weight and grains panicle-1) grain, straw yield, monetary returns and nutrient uptake at harvest (nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium). Post-harvest soil properties (pH, electrical conductivity, organic carbon content, available P and K) were not significantly influenced by sowing windows, but available soil nitrogen was significantly higher with June 15th sowing. Among nitrogen levels, application of 60 kg ha-1 recorded significantly higher growth parameters (plant height, leaf area and dry matter production), yield attributes (panicles hill-1, panicle length, weight and grains panicle-1), grain, straw yield, monetary returns and nutrient uptake at harvest (nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium) but, it was comparable with 40 kg ha-1. Varying nitrogen levels did not significantly influence post-harvest soil properties (pH, electrical conductivity and organic carbon content, available P and K); however, available soil N was significantly higher with the application of 40 kg ha-1.

A set of four experiments with increasing levels of the three main plant nutrients and liming were established in two lateritic soils at two locations in the coffee-growing area of Puerto Rico. Two coffee cultivars were used in the experiments. The results obtained can be summarized as follows: 1. Nitrogen levels significantly affected coffee yields of the Puerto Rico cultivar in a Catalina clay at Maricao grown under shade. 2. Phosphorus and potassium did not significantly affect the yields of these coffee cultivars at the two locations. 3. Liming did not significantly affect the yields.

Maximum standing crop in an Eleocharis quadrangulata population was estimated at 881 g dry wt./m2. Net daily productivity was highest during May when about 50% of the total standing crop was produced. Net productivity for the entire period of vegetative increase, April 1 to August 4, was 7.0 g/m2 per day. The accumulation of several nutrients, especially nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium was proportionately more rapid than dry matter production during early spring growth. Net chlorophyll synthesis was also greater during early spring. Patterns of change in dry matter and chemical substances in the E. quadrangulata population were similar to those in populations of other emergent aquatic macrophytes.

Field experiments were carried out during the dry seasons in (2012-2013 and 2013-2014) to study the impact of Integrated Nutrient Management on some soil properties and nutrients uptake by red onion (Allium cepa L.) in Moda, Michika, Adamawa state, Nigeria. Soil samples were randomly collected and analysed for pH, EC, organic carbon, organic matter, total nitrogen, available phosphorus before and at the completion of the experiment. Total nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium contents of the onion bulbs were determined. There was an improvement in the fertility status of the soil as a consequence of integrated nutrient management. Combined organic and inorganic fertilizer application influenced the uptake of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium by red onion. The highest nitrogen, phosphorous and potassium uptake by onions of 0.76, 43.82 and 2.42kgha-1 occurred when all treatments were combined. Uptake of N and K increased as treatment level increased. The P uptake was highest at lower treatment levels and could be linked to sufficiency of indigenous soil P for plant growth resulting in high P uptake with minimal addition of nutrient inputs. Integrated Nutrient Management could be adopted to improve soil fertility status and N, P and K uptake by red onions.

A two year experiment was conducted during kharif and rabi season of 2016-2017 and 2017-2018 at experimental site near Faculty of Forestry in main campus of Birsa Agricultural University, Ranchi, Jharkhand, India. Sole cropping and gamhar based agrisilviculture systems with four different intercrops (arhar, cowpea, greengram and mustard) were under investigation. To study the overall scenario of soil properties under agrisilviculture system, soil samples were analysed at different profile depths (0-15 and 15-30 cm) to measure the changes in soil properties under the influence of gamhar (Gmelina arborea) tree and intercrops grown in between. Soil pH, electrical conductivity (dsm-1), organic carbon (%), available nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium (kg ha-1) were found higher at the soil depth 0-15 cm as compared to 15-30 cm due to addition of organic residue on the surface soil. Soil OC, available N, P and K in 0-15 cm as well as in 15-30 cm profile was found to be statistically significant. It showed an increase from initial value in all the treatments in 2016-17 and 2017-18. The increase was more in gamhar based agrisilviculture system than in sole tree and sole crops in both the years.

Tillage and crop establishment method play an important role in the placement of seed at proper depth which ultimately affect germination and crop growth. The selection of suitable crop establishment method for wheat is dependent upon the time of sowing and availability of soil moisture. A field experiment was conducted during Rabi season 2017-18 and 2018-19 to evaluate the effect of tillage and crop establishment methods on productivity, nutrient uptake and profitability of wheat (Triticum aestivum L.). Results revealed that grains, straw and biological yields were significantly higher under treatment T5 (wide bed furrow irrigated) and at par with T2 (furrow irrigated with gated pipe Raised bed) and T8 (zero till flat irrigated by gated pipe Controlled flood irrigation).Total nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium uptake were significantly more in treatment T5 than other treatments. Significantly maximum gross return (97818 ₹ ha-1), was recorded under T5 which was at par with T8 and T2. The maximum net return (61910 ₹ ha-1) and B: C ratio (2.84) were fetched under T8 than all other treatments followed by and T5.

Field experiments were conducted at Agricultural College and Research Institute, Coimbatore during August to February of 2011-12 and 2012-13 to study the effect of drip irrigation, fertigation levels and frequencies on seed yield and nutrient uptake of pigeonpea. Three fertilizer levels (75 %, 100 % and 125 % recommended dose fertilizer (RDF) through water soluble fertilizer and conventional fertilizers), three irrigation levels (50 % computed water requirement of crop (WRc), 75 % WRc and 100 % WRc) and surface irrigation (IW/CPE ratio 0.6 with 100 per cent RDF through conventional fertilizer) were included as treatments in this study. Application of 100 per cent of RDF (WSF) once in 7 days along with 100 % WRc (T9) recorded significantly higher uptake of total nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium. The lowest plant nutrient uptake was recorded by surface irrigation with application of 100 % RDF (T14) applied as basal. The results revealed that application of nutrients through fertigation once in seven days with 125 % RDF (WSF) + irrigation 100 % WRc recorded higher total nutrient uptake (nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium) than surface irrigation with conventional fertilizer.

The experiment was designed to measure the effect of corn maturity, plant density, nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium fertilization on corn silage production. Funk’s G 4252 corn hybrid planted 10 cm apart in rows 75 cm apart produced an average of 18,325 kg/ha of dry matter over 4 yr, when fertilized with 200 kg/ha of N. Nitrogen fertilization, plant density, and choice of hybrid were the most important factors in dry matter production. Yield increases of 30% were associated with a 3% decrease in quality. Optimum yields were predicted for plant densities of 133,000 pl/ha with 180 kg/ha of N. There was no significant response to P and K fertilization. Yearly applications of P at 50 kg/ha allowed an increase in available P in the soil. Even with yearly applications of K at 200 kg/ha, a constant decrease in soil exchangeable K content was observed.

A field experiment was conducted during kharif, 2019 at College Farm, Professor Jayashankar Telangana State Agricultural University, Telangana. The present study was conducted to know the effect of different planting densities and nitrogen levels on the growth and yield of Finger millet. The soil of experimental site was loamy sand type, slightly acidic in pH (6.43), non-saline in EC (0.15 dSm-1), low in organic carbon (0.42%), low in available N (201.6 kg ha-1), medium in available P (25.3 kg ha-1), low in available K (236.25 kg ha-1). The experiment was laid out in randomized block design with factorial concept and replicated thrice with 12 treatments combinations consisting of four nitrogen levels (0 %, 50%, 100% and 150% RDN) and three levels of planting density (S1-solid rows × 15 cm, S2- 30 cm × 15 cm, S3- 25 cm × 15 cm). Results indicated that S1-solid rows × 15 cm recorded highest plant height, number of tillers m-2, dry matter production (g m-2) and S3- 25 cm × 15 cm recorded highest leaf area plant-1 and yield. Application of 150% RDN recorded highest plant growth parameters, grain yield and straw yield. However, it was on par with 100% RDN. It was concluded that planting density of 25 cm × 15 cm among spacings and 100% N among nitrogen levels proved to be a viable option for getting higher productivity and profit under rainfed conditions of central agro climatic zone of Telangana.

Lettuce plants grown in sand culture, and receiving nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium at five levels in all combinations, were analysed at different stages of growth for total, soluble, and nitrate nitrogen. An attempt was made to relate these analytical data to the subsequent response (in dry matter production) shown by the plants when a further amount of nitrogen was supplied.
