Schools generally prepare class XII students to continue their studies at the higher education level, both official and non-official, this is done because almost 90% more high school students choose to continue their studies in higher education. In general, students take two selection courses at tertiary institutions, namely the national selection of state tertiary institutions (SNMPTN) and the joint selection of state tertiary institutions (SBMPTN). Both of these selections require intense preparation and guidance by the school conducted by the homeroom teacher and tutor. The purpose of this study is to find out whether the optimization of career services can improve the success of students who are accepted into state universities. This study uses qualitative methods, namely research procedures that produce descriptive data in the form of written or oral words from people or observable behavior. The study was conducted at SMA Muhammadiyah 2 Sidoarjo. In this study the source of the data obtained from interviews and observations to counseling guidance teachers, vice principals in the field of student affairs, public relations and school principals.

Research supervision is one of the important aspect in academic quality assurance and the sustainbility of the science itself. However, there is lack of attention based on research literature and evidence of good practice on research supervision from the context of academic integrity in higher education. This study aims to develop a data-driven decision making strategy in supervisor selection for post-graduate program based using research projects data. Apart of that, the researchers reviewed the indicator of academic integrity in research supervisory from program standards in masters and doctoral degree by Malaysia Qualification Agency (MQA), international recommendation by UNESCO and Islamic principles according to the roles of the supervisor, administrator and student in the context of research supervisory. This study adopted data analytics and visualization technique using cloud-based collaborative platform as a research method for data acqusition, processing and analyzing the data. The researchers acquired the research projects profile data registered in the institutional database in Universiti Malaysia Pahang from Department of Research and Innovation as a case study. We categorized and mapped the research profile according to Malaysian Research and Development Classification System (MRDCS) code. The combined data was been analyzed and visualized to specific online dashboard to indicate the research experience in fraction of years as a metric. The researchers evaluate the characteristics of the dashboard based on the academic integrity indicators from MQA, UNESCO and Islamic principles as our measures. The result shows that there is a potential usefulness of the proposed strategy in assuring academic integrity for supervisor selection in post-graduate programmes. This novel approach has a potential impact on academic integrity in higher education which can be adopted at larger scale by higher education institution in Malaysia.

This article investigates the problem of changing land uses in historical city centers, a problem which often leads to the alteration of their historical, architectural and functional physiognomy, as well as the loss of their inhabitants. It also discusses the importance of land management and proposes a multifunctional reuse model for sustainable development in abandoned or degraded areas in historic cities. This problem is found in historical centers nowadays, especially in the European South, and many theoretical texts and urban studies deal with the issue. Taking under consideration the case of the Historical “Commercial Triangle” of Athens, this article presents the results of an extensive field work, which led to the mapping and analysis of the neighborhood’s special identity. Subsequently, these results lead to the presentation of the problems caused by the dominating uses of recreation and tourism, which suppress the traditional existing commercial uses and the residency. It concludes by proposing preservation strategies for the reuse and development of the area and emphasizes the importance of a management plan aiming towards the preservation of the historical character of the commercial center and its sustainable development. The work presented in this paper is based on an assignment produced in 2020 for the purposes of the post-graduate course “Protection and Preservation of a historical urban center or settlement”, which is part of the post-graduate program “Protection of Monuments” in the School of Architecture, NTUA.

This chapter explores the question does the use of the found poem—a poem constructed by assembling a series of phrases from a series of readings—promote self-authorship in a professionally oriented graduate program. The chapter begins by arguing that self-authorship is a necessary condition to being an effective practitioner, followed by outlining self-authorship, its relationship to practice and higher education. This is then followed by laying out the practice context for the use of the found poem, a graduate course in the Capacity Development and Extension program at the University of Guelph. We then discuss the use of the found poem and how its use changed over time. In the following section two former participants in the class, who are now practitioners, share their reflections on the found poem followed by the instructor's reflections. We then discuss the implications for its use and attempt to answer the question does the found poem facilitate the development of self-authorship?

This book, consisting of nine chapters, is the result of multiple theoretical and empirical research carried out by students in the post-graduate program in education (PPGE) at Universidade Nove de Julho (UNINOVE). The object of the research was to carry out a study on the new models of higher education, implemented in Brazil between 2005 and 2013. The studies carried out focus, above all, on institutional principles, student access policies, the internationalization process, quota policies, and mechanisms for inclusion in higher education for public school students. These were studies that used, as a theoretical basis, epistemological models of a counter-hegemonic character and, from a methodological point of view, an essentially qualitative approach. The studies showed, generically, the possibility of building other models of higher education capable of overcoming the elitism, characteristic of traditional universities. The inclusion of students from public school reveals that it is possible to make higher education a right for everyone, democratizing it, in the sense of establishing social and cognitive justice. Keywords: higher education; new models; empirical research; Brazil; social and cognitive justice.
