The most important component of the traditional culture of the Ob Ugrians are the cults of patron spirits-outstanding heroes-ancestors. In ancient times, the deified person gradually turned into a means of existence of society, the organization of its life. The cult of the ancestor can be considered as a cultural factor and even a cultural model of traditional society, which served the goals of survival and adaptation of people to new historical conditions, building relationships with the surrounding world. The article considers the image of one of the patron spirits of the Khanty people-the Kazim warrior goddess (also known in literature as Vut-imi or Kasum-nai, etc.), reflected in the folklore of the Kazim and other Khanty groups, Sosva Mansi and Nenets. The “history” of her life points to constant migrations and the development of new territories in ancient times, explains the contacts of the ancestors of the Kazim Khants with neighboring ethnic groups. The purpose of the work is to reveal the nature of interethnic and intraethnic relations of the Kazym Khants on the basis of folklore texts about the Vut by them, based on cultural-historical, descriptive, functional-semantic and typological methods, taking into account existing developments on this topic. As a historical and ethnographic source containing information about the intercultural communications of the Kazym Khants, the author considers both previously published songs, legends and legends about the Vut-im, including information about its zoomorphic images, attributes, epithets; as well as new material recorded by the author from informants. The author notes that the image of the main patron spirit of R. Kazym shows Permian features. Stable contacts with the Mansi territory are clearly expressed in the language, folklore, and cultural traditions. Khanty legends also indicate a significant influence of the Nenets culture (primarily in the field of reindeer husbandry). The mythology of the marriage relations of the goddess with the Khanty heroes reflects the kinship and nature of the intra-ethnic relations of the Khanty: the Kazim group with other local formations (Irtysh, Pim and other Khanty).

Abstract “Apocalypticism” and “Globalization” are not commonly juxtaposed to one another, with the former taken to begin in ancient times and the latter taken to be a modern phenomenon. This Forum explores the convergence of thoughts about the history of the world and the practices those thoughts engendered among the peoples of Western Europe and the Mediterranean region during the “early modern” era, roughly between 1400 and 1800. Scholars in history and the humanities commonly regard this period as a long transition in a “from-to” narrative when “pre-modern” institutions and intellectual and cultural traditions, characterized by the entanglements of the worldly with the divine, the temporal with the spiritual, the secular with the sacred, and the microcosm with the macrocosm, were transformed into “modernity” by the replacement of beliefs dependent on faith with knowledge established by reason. The essays in this Forum take a different approach by treating the development of modern understandings of the political, social and natural world as emerging from religiously-grounded discourse, debate, and practice in the early modern era.

Jars are the most extensive category of earthenware from catacomb burial grounds of the Saltovo-Mayaki culture. They have greatest variety of shapes among others categories of ceramics. Thе article is devoted to the study of the 211 jars shapes from six catacomb burial grounds of the Saltovo-Mayaki culture. The research is based on the historical-and-cultural approach to the study of the vessels shape, developed by A. A. Bobrinsky and supplemented by his modern followers. The aim of ceramics study in this approach is to reconstruct specific cultural traditions of manufacturers and consumers of pottery, as well as to study the history of the population in ancient times based on data about these cultural traditions. The catacomb burial grounds studied here are divided into two groups. The core of the first group is Dmitrievsky and Nizhnelubyansky burial grounds. Podgorovsky burial ground has many similarities with sites listed above. The second group consisted of Starosaltovsky, Rubezhansky and Yutanovsky burial grounds. These groups is fully consistent with the grouping based on burial traditions of the Saltovo-Mayaki culture. According to G. E. Afanasiev these burial traditions are associated with different tribal groups of the Don Alans. The main conclusion is that the various mass traditions of the jars shapes mark the differences in the skills among potters from different Alans tribal groups who settled in the middle - second half of the VIII century in the Middle Don basin. They show the connection of different cultural traditions with specific ancient human collectives.

Taking the observation of A-share listed companies in Shanghai and Shenzhen from 2007 to 2015 as a sample, this paper empirically examines the influence of Chinese traditional culture on the excessive perks of executives. The finding shows that the greater the influence of listed companies on cultural traditions, the lower the over-employment consumption level of company executives. This indicates that traditional culture, as an important informal cultural factor in the social system, can inhibit executives from violating business ethics. Moreover, compared with State-owned companies in a strong regulatory environment, this effect above is more pronounced in private companies with weaker regulatory environment, indicating that traditional culture and formal institutions play a complementary role. Further, the traditional culture is divided into Buddhism culture and Taoism culture to test these two different cultural impacts on executives excess perks. It is found that both Buddhism culture and Taoism culture are significantly negative with the excessive perks of executives, implying that these two traditional cultures commonly promote moral and ethical compliance.

Methods and approaches in the selection of informants for fixing folklore works of Russians, Evens, Yakuts, who have inhabited the North-East of Yakutia since ancient times, are considered. The authors dwell on such issues as ways of finding informants; clarification of the status (narrator, singer and performer); concretization of the performer’s personality and his repertoire. The novelty of the research is seen in the fact that at the present stage, methods of selecting informants are being studied; the approaches to the selection of performers of song folklore, used by M.N.Zhirkov, are specified; the change in the status of the storytellers of Russian folklore is traced; the main features of the performance of the Even epic by the narrators are analyzed. The relevance of the research is due to the fact that the history of the study of the epic and song heritage of personalities-performers of the song-prose epic of the Russians Ustye, Evens and Yakuts by the staff of the Institute of Language and Culture is examined. Methods and approaches of M. N. Zhirkov in the selection of performers, as well as their repertoire to be fixed, are revealed. The importance of summarizing the already achieved results and setting new tasks in collecting and fixing folklore and musical material in the context of the extinction of folklore tradition and a reduction in the number of experts of traditional culture is affirmed.
