ABSTRACT This study has three objectives as follows. First, it describes the level of vocabulary mastery of class X students of SMK Negeri 2 Padang. Second, describe the level of exposition text writing skills of class X students of SMK Negeri 2 Padang. Third, describe the correlation of vocabulary mastery with text writing skills of exposition students of class X SMK Negeri 2 Padang. This type of research is quantitative with descriptive methods. The design of this study is correlational. This study consisted of two variables, namely vocabulary mastery of class X vocational high school students 2 Padang and writing exposition text skills of class X students of vocational high school 2 Padang. The data of this study are the scores on the vocabulary mastery test results and the scores on the exposition text writing skills test results. Data is obtained through two types of tests, namely objective tests to measure vocabulary mastery and performance tests to measure exposition text writing skills. Based on the results of the analysis and discussion, three things are concluded as follows. First, the vocabulary mastery of grade X students of SMK Negeri 2 Padang is in a qualification More Than Enough (72.36). Second, the exposition writing skills of the X grade students of SMK Negeri 2 Padang are in Good qualification (78.68). Third, the mastery of vocabulary correlates with the writing skills of exposition text students of class X SMK Negeri 2 Padang. Thus, for exposition text writing skills, vocabulary mastery is needed. Kata Kunci: korelasi, penguasaan kosakata, keterampilan menulis teks eksposisi

This study aims to determine whether there is a significant correlation between interest in entrepreneurship with the performance of industrial work practices in Vocational High School. There are two variables in this research, the student’s interest in entrepreneurship as a variable X and performance of the industry working practices as a variable Y. This research is a quantitative research, with research subjects are students of class XII TITL in SMK Muhammadiyah 1 enrolled in the academic year 2015/2016 which consists of two classes. This research examines the factors that are expected to serve as the cause of the present state, then these factors are investigated and analyzed. From the calculation of simple correlation analysis obtained correlation between interest in entrepreneurship with industry practice performance is 0.681. Analysis results also shows that there is a strong relationship between the interest in entrepreneurship with industrial practice performance.

ABSTRACT There are three aims of this study. First, describe the skills of reading comprehention of VII grade students at SMP Negeri 33 Padang. Second, describe the writing skills of the report observation text of VII grade students at SMP Negeri 33 Padang. Third, describe the correlation of reading comprehention with the writing skills of the report observation text of VII grade students at SMP Negeri 33 Padang. The  type of this research is quantitative in terms of descriptive methods. The design used in this study is correlational design. The population of this study was the seventh grade students of the SMP Negeri 33 Padang which was registered in the 2018/2019 school year, it was 192 students. The sample in this study was determined by proportional random sampling of 20% of the population, namely 36 students. The research data is in the form of scores on the skills test results of reading comprehention and scores on the results of the test writing skills of the report observation text. The instrument of this study is an objective test to measure reading comprehention skills and performance tests to measure report observation text writing skills. The results of this study are three. First, the skills to write report observation texts of  VII grade students of the SMP Negeri 33 Padang is in accordance with the Good qualifications (B) with an averange value 82,99. Second, the skill of reading comprehention of VII grade students of the SMP Negeri 33 Padang in accordance with Good qualifications (B) with an averange value 81,42. Third, there is a significant correlation betwen reading comprehention skills and report observation text writing skills of VIII grade students of the SMP Negeri 7 Padang on n-1 freedom degrees and 95% significant level. H0 is reject and H1is accepted because the tcount is greater than ttable (13,59 > 2,68).  Kata Kunci: Korelasi, Keterampilan Membaca Pemahaman, Keterampilan Menulis Teks Laporan Hasil Observasi.

ABSTRACT The purpose of this study is to (1) describe the skills of writing biographical texts of class X SMA Negeri 3 Bukittinggi before using mind mapping assisted discovery learning models, (2) describe the biography text writing skills of class X Bukittinggi SMA 3 students after using mind-assisted discovery learning models mapping, and (3) analyzing the influence of the use of discovery learning models assisted by mind mapping on biography text writing skills of class X Bukittinggi 3 Public High School students. This type of research is quantitative research with experimental methods. The design of this study is One Group Pretest and Posttest Design. The population of students in class X of SMA Negeri 3 Bukittinggi was 352 students spread in ten classes. The sample in this study were students of class X MIPA 1 Bukittinggi State High School 3. The variable in this study is the writing biographical skills of students before and after using mind mapping assisted discovery learning models. The instruments used in this study were performance tests. The data of this study are scores on the results of biographical text writing skills tests for class X students of SMA Negeri 3 Bukittinggi before and after using mind mapping assisted discovery learning models. This study has been done to get a purpose in finding the integrated teaching practice in the hotel accommodation and the traveling tourism program in the vocational high school. The teaching practice developed includes: (1) communication through telephone; (2) the hotel industry and tourism; (3) reservation and transfer (check-in/out); (4) processing room reservations and travel tickets; (5) processing the transactions and financial statements; and (6) perform clerical and administrative office procedures. This study uses research and development, the stages of research and data collection were conducted at SMK Negeri 4 and SMK Negeri 6 Yogyakara. The development of stage was tried out in Edotel Kenai Yogyakarta. The research and development of integrated model of practicing learning in the skills competency of the hotel accommodation and the traveling tourism program in vocational tourism school produce graduates who are competent in their field and are able to be a highly skilled workforce, independent and ready to use. The students are able to demonstrate the quality and performance in terms of personal attitude: (1) think logically, fast and precise in determining any motion and actions to be undertaken; (2) behave wisely by not leaving ethics and manners at every decision taken; (3) act to determine the steps to be done that can be accounted for. The result of this research to find out the integrated learning practice process proved to be very suitable and effective in improving students' competence in obtaining buzzing standard work practices in the world of business and industry. The applying this model is expected tourism vocational graduates can fill the share of employment in the industrial world and fill labor needs in the community.

Vocational High School is course with aim to prepare the students to have specific skills by having practical activities based on its study program. It has the same purpose with English for specific purposes (ESP) course which aims to meet the students’ specific language need. ESP courses help students to use English appropriately as well as accurately to perform their jobs in a various situations where they encounter their English language function. ESP course often begins with the students’ need. Students’ need analysis is needed to be identified to be able to meet the effective learning material based on what the students really need. This study aims to investigate the writing materials needs of eleventh grade students of Office Administration study program in Vocational High School from viewpoints of students. This study used descriptive qualitative analysis with questionnaire and interview method to collect the data. The subjects of the research were eleventh grade of Office Administration students that consisted of 34 students by using purposive sampling. The result indicated that the students have several needs in terms of target needs and learning needs. Target needs are divided into necessities, wants, and lacks. Based on the result of target needs, the students are lack of component of writing skills including express ideas, write with correct organization, use correct grammar, punctuation, capitalization, and spelling, and use appropriate vocabulary based on the context of the text. Thus, the students need and want to learn those components of writing skills. Meanwhile, learning needs are divided into input, procedure, setting, and accessibility. The input is divided into content of materials, activities, and design. The teachers should pay attention more on those aspects to fulfill the students’ need to help them transition successfully to their future careers after graduation.

Indonesian language learning Curriculum 2013 which will be studied by junior high school students is one of them is description text. Description text is a type of text describing an object, a thing and a situation so that the reader seems to hear seeing, or feeling the things described. In writing description text, it must pay attention to the structure and rules of language of the description text that have been set, so as to produce a solid and intact description text. In writing the description text students still experience difficulties in writing language rules that are still lacking. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of using the Explicit Instruction model on the description of writing skills in junior high school students. This type of research is quantitative research using the experimental method. The design of this study was one group pretets-posttest design of this study conducted twice before being given treatment and after being given treatment. The sampling technique of this study was purposive sampling technique, the sample in this study was one class. The data in this study is a performance test results of the description text writing skills before and after using the Explicit Instruction learning model for the description skills of text writing for junior high school students. The results of his research are that there is a significant effect between the learning model and the results of the news text writing skills before and after using the Explicit Instructionmodel on Writing Skills. Text description for Junior High School Students. This is evidenced by the results of research that show that the value of tcount t table ( 1.90), so that H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted. That means the explicit instruction learning model is effectively used in the description writing skills of junior high school students.

Second, describe the writing text skills of VIII grade students at SMP Negeri 7 Padang. Third, describe the correlation of reading comprehention to the news with the writing text skills of VIII grade students at SMP Negeri 7 Padang. The  type of this research is quantitative in terms of descriptive methods. The design used in this study is correlational design. The population of this study was the eighth grade students of the SMP Negeri 7 Padang which was registered in the 2018/2019 school year, it was 254 students. The sample in this study was determined by proportional random sampling of 15% of the population, namely 40 students. The research data is in the form of scores on the skills test results of reading comprehention to the news and scores on the results of the test writing news text skills. The instrument of this study is an objective test to measure news reading comprehention skills and performance tests to measure news text writing skills. The results of this study are three. First, the skills to write news texts of  VIII grade students of the SMP Negeri 7 Padang is in accordance with the Good qualifications (B) with an averange value 81,25. Second, the skill of reading comprehention to the news text of VIII grade students of the SMP Negeri 7 Padang in accordance with Good qualifications (B) with an averange value 81,37. Third, there is a significant correlation betwen reading comprehention skills and news text writing skills of VIII grade students of the SMP Negeri 7 Padang on n-1 freedom degrees and 95% significant level. H0 is reject and H1is accepted because the tcount is greater than ttable (4,49>2,68).             Kata Kunci: korelasi, keterampilan membaca pemahaman, keterampilan menul   teks berita

Abstract Implementation of demonstration method in the teaching of chemistry is assigned as the right strategy to improve students’ achievement as it is proved that the method can bring an abstract concept to reality in the class. The study is conducted to vocational high school students in SMKN1 Pargetteng getteng Sengkut Pakfak Barat at accademic year 2013. The teaching has been carried out three cycles on the teaching of chemistry topic of colloid system. In the study, the class is divided into two class, experiment class and control class. The demontration method is used to teach students in experimental class while the teaching in control class is conducted with lecture method. Both are evaluated by using multiple choise tests before and after the teaching procedures, and the ability of students to answer the problems are assigned as students’ achievements. The results showed that demonstration method improved students’ achievement in chemistry. The students in experimental class who are taughed with demonstration method (M=19.08±0.74) have higher achievements compare with control class (M=12.91±2.52), and both are significantly different (tcalculation 22.85 > ttable 1.66). The effectivity of demostration method in experimental class (97%) is found higer compare to conventional method in control class (91%).
