This paper aims at finding the interlanguage errors made by the freshmen of English Department of Universitas Negeri Padang. This research needs to be conducted since the result can become a formative evaluation for lecturers in teaching English for the freshmen. The method used in this reserach is a qualitative-descriptive method, supported by simple quantitative calculation. The data were taken from students’ mid term examination. The mid term examination included multiple choice, cloze procedure and composition or writing test. In writing test, the students were asked to write a one-paragrah composition. There were 6 (six) classes participaed in the test. One class was randomly taken as a sample A Target Modification Taxonomy by James (1998)  is used to analyze and describe the errors. It analyzes what types of errors made most by the subject of this study. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian deskriptif kualitatif, didukung oleh perhitungan kuantitatif sederhana. Data berasal dari nilai ujian tengah semester mahasiswa. Jenis tes yang digunakan adalah pilihan ganda, melengkapi kalimat rumpang dan ujian menulis. Dalam ujian menulis, mahasiswa diminta untuk menulis satu buah paragraf. Ada 6 (enam) kelas yang terlibat dalam penelitian ini. Satu kelas diambil sebagai kelas sampel. Target Modification Taxonomy oleh James (1998) digunakan dalam menganalisa dan mendiskripsikan jenis kesalahan yang dibuat oleh mahasiswa. Penelitian ini menemukan bahwa jenis kesalahan yang paling banyak dibuat oleh mahasiswa adalah omission.Kata Kunci:  Error analysis; Interlanguage; Target Modification Taxonomy;

This research is motivated by an Indonesian language mistake done by elementary school students, especially in the discussion process of fourth grade students of SDN Miri. This study aims to identify the various syntactical errors that occur in the process of student discussion. Methods in this study using qualitative descriptive method with the subject of fourth grade students of SDN Miri. Analytical technique used is technique of error analysis of language. The results of this study found that there are errors in Indonesian language in the process of discussion of fourth grade students of SDN Miri in the field of phrases and sentences.   Abstrak Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh kesalahan berbahasa Indonesia yang dilakukan oleh siswa sekolah dasar, khususnya dalam proses diskusi siswa kelas IV SDN Miri. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi beragam kesalahan sintaksis yang terjadi dalam proses diskusi siswa. Metode dalam penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif dengan subjek penelitian siswa kelas IV SDN Miri. Teknik analisis yang digunakan yakni teknik analisis kesalahan berbahasa. Hasil dari penelitian ini ditemukan bahwa terdapat kesalahan berbahasa Indonesia dalam proses diskusi siswa kelas IV SDN Miri pada bidang frasa dan kalimat. AbstrakMasalah dalam penelitian ini yaitu pentingnya strategi produk dalam menjalankan sebuah usaha agar mampu bertahan dan bersaing  dengan perusahaan lain yang sejenis dalam kondisi persaingan yang ketat dan perkembangan zaman yang sangat cepat. Strategi produk sangat diperlukan dalam mememenuhi tuntutan konsumen seperti meningkatkan kualitas, menciptakan merek, pelayanan serta jaminan terhadap produk yang ditawarkan agar usaha mampu berkembang. Limpapeh”s Kebaya adalah usaha yang sedang berkembang dan telah mampu memasarkan produk bordirnya hingga menembus pasar ekspor. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan strategi produk bordir di Limpapeh”s Kebaya, Kapalo Koto, Koto Tangah Simalanggang, Kota Payakumbuh. Metode penelitian menggunakan metode deskriftif kualitatif, jenis data berupa data primer dan  sekunder. Teknik pengumpulan data melalui observasi, wawancara dan dokumentasi. Teknik analisis data dilakukan dengan teknik analisa model interaktif yang berkaitan dengan pokok permasalahan yaitu dengan model reduksi data, penyajian data dan pengambilan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian yaitu strategi produk yang dilakukan di Limpapeh”s Kebaya adalah dimulai dari menciptakan produk bordir yang berkualitas, desain motif bordir yang up to date dan kreatif, menyediakan ukuran yang special, memberi merek pada produk bordir, memberi kemasan yang menarik (paperbag) dan serbaguna, pelayanan yang cepat, tepat dan ramah serta pemberian jaminan terhadap produk border.Kata Kunci: strategi produk, pelayanan, bordir. AbstractThe problem in this study is the importance of product strategy in running a business in order to be able to survive and compete with other similar companies in conditions of intense competition and very rapid development of the times. Product strategy is very necessary in fulfilling consumer demands such as improving quality, creating brands, services and guarantees for products offered so that businesses are able to grow. Limpapeh's Kebaya is a growing business and has been able to market its embroidery products to penetrate the export market. This study aims to describe the strategy of embroidery products in Limpapeh's Kebaya, Kapalo Koto, Koto Tangah Simalanggang, Payakumbuh City. The research method uses qualitative descriptive method, the type of data in the form of primary and secondary data. The technique of collecting data through observation, interviews and documentation. Data analysis techniques are carried out with interactive model analysis techniques that are related to the subject matter, namely with a model of data reduction, data presentation and conclusion. The results of the research, namely the product strategy carried out at Limpapeh's Kebaya, are started from creating quality embroidery products, up-to-date and creative embroidery motifs, providing special sizes, giving brands to embroidery products, giving attractive packaging (paperbag) and versatile, fast, precise and friendly service and guarantee of embroidery products. ABSTRACT The objective of this research is to give understanding and clear explanation about teaching students’ listening skill by English video. Commonly, teaching listening through tape recorder, but in this research teacher shows different way, video is collaboration between pictures and sound components, and it contains a recording of a movie or television program. Students can be able to know the activity or a topic being discussion through visual aid and knowing the pictures expression clearly, this way can help students to get clear information both pronunciations and expression. Grade VIII of SMPN 15 Tangerang with total number is 20 students and 10 English teachersas the subject of the research.  Qualitative descriptive method is applied in this research to explain teaching process through video clearly, however, literature and questionnaere with close answer form is given to get the data. The result of this research are: firstly, teaching listening skill through video can be used by the teacher to make a listening class is more enjoyable and understandable, because audio visual aid can cover students various learning style, finally at the end of teaching and listening process the objectives of study can be gained. Secondly; teaching listening through video is very useful way to encourage and foster students’ listening skill and their interest.      Keywords: Using Video, Listening skill, teaching listening

This study describes the approaches that a private educative institution has about teaching, learning and assessment process. Its curriculum includes a rigorous document with evaluation policies, the SIEE (Institutional Assessment System) is offering a formative evaluation, critical thinking and analytical formation on students. The research was directed finding what kind of assessment is done, student`s considerations about assessment, and motivation for learning. A qualitative descriptive method was used (Hernández et all, 2010). And the analyses includes descriptive statistics, questionnaires, open interviews, observation protocols, and literature analysis. The paper concludes that some teachers are not involved in the contextual dynamics of learning, nor do they take into account the interests of students. So, this leads to warning that today's teachers must be updated and conduct teaching through dynamic and motivational research strategies. In this case, the proposed transformative pedagogical model and critical formative assessment will have sense on students and therefore, in our society.

This paper analyzes the textual aspects in Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) Norman Fairclough model of CNN news discourse about Uyghur issue. When this research is conducted, there are only at least five articles specifically discussing Uyghur issue that are 29th December 2011, 29th February 2012, 29th February 2012, 30th October 2013, and 5th September 2014 publications. The research focuses on analyzing the text representation and the relation between participants in the discourse. Objectives of the paper are: 1) to analyze the text representation of news in the news channel of CNN related to the Uyghur case, and 2) to analyze the relation between participants in the news channel of CNN related to the Uyghur case. The subject of this paper is Uyghur issue as reflected in the news articles of CNN International. The paper applies qualitative descriptive method. As a consequence: CNN often put formality features and a vague vocabulary to block and obscure the negative value from the readers to China. The relation here is presented by CNN to China rather than CNN to Uyghur. It is reflected by the power of the status of China.

Researchers assume that with the publication of the speech is expected to be useful especially for teachers and employees in Manduro Elementary in language development through language transmission. The purpose of this research is to describe the syntactic structure of Manduro public utterance in Manduro Village, Kabuh Subdistrict, Jombang Regency, covering syntactic functions and categories. Qualitative descriptive method used in this research. With the subject of research is the device of Manduro Village. Samples were taken by purposive sampling with the aim of taking the device of each hamlet contained in Manduro Village. The researcher is the main instrument assisted by the Swadesh Morris questionnaire. Triangulation is used as a test of data validity. The researchers used inductive analysis techniques. The results obtained in this study are syntactic functions consisting of subjects, predicates, objects, descriptions and appendices that categorized nouns, verbs, and adjectives and adverbs. Based on the results of the research, the syntactic structure of public utterance of Manduro has a universality with the syntactic structure of Indonesian and Javanese, only the structures used are not structural. This is because the sentence is a nonformal speech. The results of this study are expected to be used as a supporter of early childhood language development in Manduro Elementary School through the role of teachers in language learning by using examples and communication with students outside the lesson with the manduro language. Thus language learning occurs in a natural context so that the language of the community is not increasingly experiencing shifts and extinctions as well as in the teaching of syntax and as a ruler of language rules in Indonesia.

Language has an important role in everyday human life in society. Jargon is a kind of language that is only used by certain communities as daily communication among its members. The jargon used by the transgender community is very interesting to understand because the jargon has its own form and meaning in its disclosure and can find out how the variety of jargon-shaped language used by transgenders in hiding their secrets so as not to be known by the public. It is evident that not all users of other languages understand the jargon. In this study, the researchers analyzed the jargon used by the waria community in the salon. This study aims to determine the jargon and describe and understand the meaning of the jargon used by the transgender community in interacting orally. The source of the research data was obtained from the subject, namely the transgender women who worked at the Retah salon in Pamulang, who used jargon in their daily communication with transgender women and sometimes with their customers. The method used in this study is a qualitative descriptive method, which describes and conveys data objectively. Describe the jargon terms of transgender language as the object of research. The data collection technique used is observation or see and note. The result of this research is the jargon used by waria in the form of transgender language vocabulary. Based on the results of the data analysis, it was found that 20 pieces of jargon used by transgender women in the salon were akika, rapose, capcus, endang gurindang, ink, sekong, belenjong, cucok, metong, hamidah, lekong, sapose, capcay, begindang, bala-bala, sindang. , lambreta, grasshopper, mesong, and mursida.Keywords: Waria, Jargon, Vocabulary

This study aims to find out about language errors that occur in an Arabic textbooks entitled Duru>s al-Lughah al-‘Ara>biyah ‘ala Thariqati al-Muba>syarah al-Mutaka>milah of Muhammad In'am, M.A. Not only the errors that were discussed but there was an attempt or Tashwib or correction in order to evaluate the results of the analysis that has been done. Library research was used with a qualitative descriptive method to analyze the subject of the study which is Duru>s al-Lughah al-‘Ara>biyah ‘ala Thariqati al-Muba>syarah al-Mutaka>milah both volumes I and II. In this study, the following conclusions can be drawn: there are errors in language syntactic aspects in the textbooks. There are several categories of errors (refer to the classification of Toto Suharto et al): nakirah Ma'rifah, Dhamir, huruf Jar, Murakkab Idhafi, Isim Isyarah, Jumlah Ismiyah, and Jumlah Fi'liyah. Several reasons were found for the occurrence of these errors, namely lack of accuracy in writing textbooks, lack of workforce that helped the author to edit the material to be presented in textbooks and limited human resources which led to inefficient writing of textbooks. Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui tentang beberapa kesalahan-kesalahan berbahasa yang terjadi dalam penulisan buku teks bahasa Arab Duru>s al-Lughah al-‘Ara>biyah ‘ala Thariqati al-Muba>syarah al-Mutaka>milah karya Muhammad In’am. MA, bukan hanya kesalahan-kesalahan yang dibahas tapi ada upaya Tashwib atau pembenaran guna sebagai evaluasi dari hasil analisis yang telah dilakukan. Ketegori yang digunakan penelitian library research dengan metode deskriptif kualitatif. Dengan objek buku teks bahasa Arab Arab Duru>s al-Lughah al-‘Ara>biyah ‘ala Thariqati al-Muba>syarah al-Mutaka>milah karya Muhammad In’am. MA baik jilid I dan II. Dalam penelitian ini dapat diambil kesimpulan sebagai berikut, bahwa: adanya kesalahan-kesalahan berbahasa aspek sintaksis dalam buku teks Duru>s al-Lughah al-‘Ara>biyah ‘ala Thariqati al-Muba>syarah al-Mutaka>milah karya Muhammad In’am. MA baik jilid I dan II. Ditemukan beberapa kategori kesalahan (merujuk pada klasifikasi Toto Suharto dkk): Nakirah Ma’rifah, Dhamir, huruf Jar, Murakkab Idhafi, Isim Isyarah, Jumlah Ismiyah, dan Jumlah Fi’liyah.  di temukan beberapa alasan terjadinya kesalahan-kesalahan tersebut yakni kurangnya ketelitian dalam menulis buku teks, kurangnya tenaga kerja yang membantu penulis dalam mengedit materi-materi yang akan di sajikan dalam buku teks, keterbatasan sumber daya  manusia yang menyebabkan kurang efisien dalam menulis buku teks. This study aims to identify, analyze and describe the structure of the use of some errors in the writing of English sentences in the text and the aspects surrounding the Student Semester 3 of English Department STAIN Surakarta. In this study, the researcher describes the error use of 'be' both as a linking verb or auxiliary verb. This is a qualitative-descriptive research. Source data used is a document that is the writing assignment undertaken by the Students taking Writing course. Writing tasks are in narrative, descriptive, expositive, and argumentative forms. To analyze the data, researcher uses intra lingual and extra lingual method. This method is used to connect the linguistic elements in sentences, especially some of the elements either as a linking verb or auxiliary verb in English sentences in the text. Based on the analysis of error regarding the use of 'be' it can be concluded that there are 5 (five) types of errors made by students; error about the absence (omission) of 'be',  error about the addition of 'be', the error on the application of 'be', errors in placements 'be', and a complex error in the use of 'be'. These errors occur due to inter lingual transfer, intra lingual transfer and learning context.
