There are three types of clause in Minangkabaunese based on the typological analysis, namely: active, passive, and topicalization one. Accordingly, each clause has special information structure which makes they are different in communicating messages. This article tries to describe the types of clauses in Minangkabaunese based on typological analysis and then the discussion is continued in order to know the information structure in each clause. This article is derived and developed based on the result of a fundamental research conducted for the first year (2008) in West-Sumatra.

Your journal enters its third decade with the publication of this issue. The first volume, published in 1988, appeared in quarterly issues, but moved to bi-monthly production in 1989, and then monthly release from 1990 through 1992. Two volumes appeared each year during 1989–1992, accounting for the fact that this twenty-first year coincides with volume 25. In 1993, it returned to bi-monthly publication, remaining so for the past 15 years. During this period, other vision-related journals have made their debut, but Visual Neuroscience remains a premier venue for publishing fundamental research in the neurobiology of vision.

Characteristic of earthquake in a region can be studied through its physical characteristics, such as magnitude and earthquakes energy. Energy which is produced by earthquake can be predicted from magnitude. So far, a lot of research produces different equation to predict of earthquake energy that is depending on zone of earthquake occurred. The purpose of descriptive fundamental research was to find equation for ground acceleration which is presented by local magnitude earthquake for West Sumatra region. Data sounder for research were collected from BMG Padang Panjang which was recorded from 1982 to 2008. Data are analyzed by using least square inversion method. Equation ground acceleration is log αac = 0.451Io +0.146 ML + 0.744 log ∆ - 2.644, which local magnitude is ML = 0.413I0 – 0.785 Log H + 5.334 and intensity of the earthquake in the epicenter is Io = I + 3 log (Δ/H) + 0.01 (ΔH).

The relevance of the development of research on the parametrization of homeostasis as a special information structure of robust control introduced into economic systems to ensure robust stability of their activities is substantiated. The principles of designing homeostasis for managing complex open systems in a multisubjective environment filled with uncertainty are given. The experience of using homeostasis in economic theory is generalized. An approach to the design of adaptive homeostasis of an economic system that combines parameters-indicators of its activity and the state of a multisubject environment, the formation of systemic convergence is described. The composition of the indicator parameters of adaptive homeostasis is substantiated, a cognitive map is constructed.A new class of problems for ensuring robust stability of complex economic systems is derived, based on a combination of heuristic methods with numerical and simulation modeling.

AbstractWhat is a textual genre? How do the genres of typologically different languages differ from each other? How systematic differences of the genre systems reveal variations among languages in terms of the information structure? These are fundamental research questions in contrastive linguistics. The central purpose of this paper is to investigate variations between textual genres of British English and Mandarin Chinese by using large-scale language data bases. The corpus analysis shows that textual genres of the two languages are different from each other systematically, which thus sheds new light on the inherent cognitive and cultural differences between the two language and cultural systems.

The Academic Year 2016/2017 was the first year of fiscal reconciliation and filling an Annual Tax Returns as the material of Competency and Skills Exam of Vocational School students. Students are required to understand and can calculate the amount of tax payable and filling in annual tax returns, then they can work on the questions properly and correctly. This student's ability is inseparable from the teacher's ability to understand the material. Therefore, the teachers is required to have deep knowledge and understanding about the material. The purpose of this activity is to conduct training to improve the understanding and knowledge of the Vocational School Teachers of Accounting Departments on Fiscal Reconciliation Materials and the Filling of Annual E-Tax Return in accordance with Competency and Skills Exam Materials in Agam District and Bukittinggi City, West Sumatra. The training was carried out for 4 days in 2 weeks. Based on the results of the assessment from the pretest and posttest was conducted to the participants, shows that there was an increase in the understanding of vocational school teachers in the accounting department for annual fiscal reconciliation and E-Tax Return materials for individual taxpayers and corporate taxpayers. The results of the survey conducted with a questionnaire to find out the perceptions of participants regarding the usefulness of the community service activities, it shows that the training participants were very enthusiastic and get benefit from this activity. Keywords: teachers, SMK, understanding, fiscal reconciliation

Abstract Background: COVID-19 test positivity rate (TPR) is essential to estimate and control SARS-CoV-2 transmission in a population at a specific time, yet the TPR trends at a provincial level in Indonesia are unclear. This study aimed to determine the COVID-19 TPR dynamics of the Indonesian West Sumatra province in the first year of documented cases. Methods: We conducted a retrospective study using secondary data of the COVID-19 quantitative reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (q-RT-PCR) test in West Sumatra Province from April 2020 to March 2021. To examine trends, we estimated TPR(s) on an annual, quarterly, and monthly basis in the province, its regions (cities/ regencies), and districts. Results: From a total of 410,424 individuals taking the COVID-19 q-RT-PCR examination during one year, the provincial TPR was 8.11%. The third quarter (October 2020 – December 2020, 12.18%) and October 2020 (15.62%) had the highest TPR quarterly and monthly, respectively. The TPR of cities was almost certainly twice that of regencies. Annual TPR varied significantly (p<0.001) across regions, districts, and periods. Conclusion: The COVID-19 TPR trends in West Sumatra at the first year of the pandemic were generally higher than the global recommendation. Further study on population density, public mobility, and implementation of health protocol in the province should be valuable to understand TPR dynamics.

Laboratory practicals engage students in complex thinking to build their scientific knowledge and understanding. Surprisingly few studies connect the development of students’ cognitive and metacognitive skills for learning in the laboratory practical with foundational skills for researching. Librarians strive to establish teaching partnerships with academics to contextualise research skills within curriculum content. However, pedagogical models to make research skills explicit and guide libraryfaculty collaborations are lacking. This study explores the Research Skill Development (RSD) framework (Willison & O'Regan 2006/2018; see the first article in this issue) to extrapolate students’ research skills in a first-year biology practical unit. A qualitative research design was applied to identify research skills in the unit’s laboratory manual and in descriptive observations of students in five laboratory practicals. Results show students engaged in the research skills articulated by the RSD, yet these skills were implied rather than explicitly taught. Implications suggest that fundamental research skills which enable student preparedness for research can be overlooked in practical curricula. Research skills remaining unrecognised impacts learning and teaching, including the contribution librarians could make in this context. Findings demonstrated that the RSD is a useful theoretical construct and a priori framework to make research skills visible to educators.

This paper explains about the use of gestures by students in group presentation. This research is descriptive research where the participant is the first year students of English Department of STKIP PGRI West Sumatra in academic year 2015/2016 in A and B class. The sampling technique used purposive sampling. The instrument of this research is observation. The result of this research is students used gestures in group presentation. Gestures are used in many situations such as when the students explain and deliver the information and opinions and also to give the instructions. Types of gesture which are stated by McNeill (1992), they are Iconic, Metaphoric, Deictic, and Beat gesture appear during process of group presentation. Iconic appears 12 times, this gesture has a function to describe the semantic information. Metaphoric appears 15 times, this gesture has a function to represent abstract content. Deictic appears 18 times, this gesture has a function to pointing and give the instructions. Beat appears 10 times, this gesture has a function help to find the words.
