Research question: This paper studies the relation between organizational culture and perceived organizational effectiveness of an insurance company in a developing country with an emerging economy.Motivation: The main objective of the research is to determine whether there is a correlation between organizational culture and climate as a narrower concept, on the one hand and perceived organizational effectiveness on the other hand. Some authors noted a correlation between these organizational aspects. For example, Yan (2016) empirically confirmed that organizational culture positively and significantly correlates with organizational effectiveness. The relationship between organizational culture and organizational effectiveness was also examined by Cox and Trotter (2016), Chen (2017) and Deem, De Lotell and Kelly (2015). Idea: Starting from the findings of other authors that organizational culture indeed affects effectiveness, the authors of this paper wanted to examine whether this relation existed in  a state-owned insurance company in an emerging economy and if so, how to use this  to improve employees’ performance and overall business results. Data: They conducted the research in June 2017 on the sample of employees of Dunav Insurance Company and obtained six hundred and sixty six valid questionnaires. Tools: The questionnaires consisted of five general questions about demographic variables and twenty-nine closed-ended questions related to the topic. The researchers assessed the correlation between variables by Spearman Rho Coefficient and Chi-Square significance. Findings: The results showed the relationship between a number of aspects of organizational culture and climate on one hand and perceived organizational effectiveness on the other hand. Research results showed that the evaluation of effective utilization of working hours and professional capabilities is largely connected with the aspects of organizational climate that reflect poor working conditions and unethical attitude of employees. However, the evaluation of effective utilization of professional capabilities also relates to the perception of predominant aspects of an organizational climate that inspire positive internal relations. Contribution: The results presented in the paper can be used as the basis for organizational and managerial decision-making to improve work processes in the observed organization.

Background: Fluoride protects the teeth from dental caries using the needed amount of fluoride products. Methods: A Modified structured questionnaire has been validated through a pilot trial (20 responses) prior to administration that contains16 questions was distributed. Other than the demographics, the data were collected from 500 participants including undergraduate male and female dental students. Results: The majority described the mild fluorosis appearance in the teeth according to Dean’s index appropriately as white opacity of the enamel (64%, n=320). On the other hand, only 31.1% (n=155) and 46% (n=229) described the moderate and severe fluorosis appearance in the teeth according to Dean’s index appropriately. Conclusions: The dissemination and education about dental fluorosis is urgently needed and should be tailored to reach this population. The knowledge about causes of fluoride and the effect on dental fluorosis should be presented in the education.

Abstract As there have been many researches for bolt self-loosening and a lot of knowledge have been accumulated, the phenomena has been understood more and more clearly. On the other hand, it is quite difficult to achieve both non-self-loosening and easy bolting tasks. In practical situations, easy and stable bolting is more focused and torque control is employed for tension control in the fields. For the stable bolting, friction of the threads is reduced by lubrication. However, the effect of this friction reduction is not yet investigated in the aspect of self-loosening. In this paper, the effect of frictions between male and female threads and between nut and bearing surface is investigated by FEA simulations. This provides information how self-loosening can be controlled. In this paper, the motion of the fastened plate transverse to the bolt axis is considered. This motion is known as the easiest motion to make self-loosening in experience and also as shown so in the author’s previous researches. The friction seems to increase self-loosening and also decrease self-loosening at the same time. It seems that the friction on the bearing surface drives self-loosening and friction on the thread surfaces prevents it. In this paper, both the frictions are examined in the relative manner with the Finite Element Analyses.

The article presents the concept of driver takeover assessment in the vehicles with conditional automation. The signals are used to inform the driver about the necessity to take over the control in automated vehicles when considering automated driving scenarios (e.g. highway chauffeur). The article presents preliminary results of the research concerning the efficiency of different modality signals. The research was carried out on multisensoric stand in driving simulator AS1200-6. Such research on one hand enabled the verification of the efficiency of multisensoric stand’s operation. On the other hand, it helped to answer a significant research question regarding the efficient way of communicating with a driver through the use of HMI interface, in order to minimize the time of taking over the control of the vehicle. Time necessary for taking over the control was one of the main analyzed parameters. Results of the test indicate that the effectiveness of information transfer depends on its form. The examinees achieved the best results when informed through visual and auditory interfaces (t = 3,84 s). Obtained results are going to serve to formulate the recommendations for automotive. The next research stage will be to analyze the maneuvers taken after taking over the control and the assessment of their correctness.

This study compares degree of homophobia between social work and non-social work students. The results show that although social work students are not significantly different from non-social work students in their levels of homophobia, both male and female social work students are significantly less homophobic than male non-social work students. On the other hand, somewhat surprisingly, female social work students are significantly more homophobic than female non-social work students on the issues of whether homosexuality is a sin and whether homosexuality is disgusting. Implications for social work education are discussed.

SummaryThis study compares the incidence of a variety of cutaneous conditions among 91 patients treated with lithium carbonate with the incidence of such conditions among 44 patients treated with other non-neuroleptic, maintenance medications. Data on cutaneous conditions and allergies were obtained using structured interviews, demographic data, medication histories and personal and family histories.A significantly greater proportion of the lithium-treated patients than the comparison patients reported a cutaneous condition which may have been secondary to treatment in that it developed for the first time after the medication or appeared to have been exacerbated by the medication. Among the lithium-treated patients, females were found to be significantly more likely to report a secondary cutaneous condition. This effect was found across the whole range of cutaneous conditions. Male lithium-treated patients on the other hand reported approximately the same rate of secondary cutaneous conditions as both male and female comparison patients. Possible reasons for this sexual effect on incidence are discussed. The literature on cutaneous conditions which have been associated with lithium therapy is also reviewed.

Luxury marketers have been watching the rise of sharing startups and the unprecedented consumer acceptance of the same with trepidation. This phenomenon has the potential of scuttling the apple cart of legacy luxury brands and the conventional way of marketing. Thus, the author makes an attempt to dissect the consumer motivations for sharing precious possessions on the one hand and using such services on the other hand. By observing such phenomenon at close quarters using in-depth consumer interviews supplemented by netnographic observation of luxury brand communities, this paper attempts to capture the enablers of a changing consumer psyche in order to chart out strategic implications for brand custodians. In short, this paper examines the following research question a) what are the consumer motivations for sharing as well as using shared luxury brands b) what are the enablers of consumer transition from ownership centric to experience centric consumption of luxury.

The study aims to examine science teachers' and pre-service science teachers' metaphors about learning, teaching, and teacher concepts and compare their metaphors. The study is designed according to phenomenology research design. The study participants consisted of 62 in-service science teachers working in government schools and 45 pre-service science teachers attending a government university’s science teaching department. The data was collected during the 2017-2018 academic year. The participants were requested to fill in the blanks of three statements: "Learning is like…..; because …….", "Teaching is like…..; because…….", "Teacher is like….; because……". The results displayed that teachers and pre-service teachers generally have different meaning categories. While teachers expressed the concept of “teacher,” they took their own experiences and professional lives into consideration since they are actively working as teachers. On the other hand, pre-service teachers expressed their own teachers and their behaviors while defining the concept of “teacher.” Similarly, when we take a look at the results related to the concept of “student,” while teachers started off with the children they taught, pre-service teachers talked about their own experiences since they are students.
