Many famous Russian specialists whose academic interests include consciousness, brain and mind took part in this event: K.V. Anokhin, D.I. Dubrovsky, T.V. Chernigovskaya, M.A. Piradov, A.A. Potapov, V.Y. Sergin, V.V. Vasil’ev, Z.A. Zorina and others. At the round table, the following problems were discussed: the specificity of consciousness problem, its relevance in various academic disciplines, contemporary research possibilities for consciousness studies to solve the problems that specialists actually face. Much attention was paid to the problems of neurobiology, empirical research of consciousness. Nonetheless, participants showed in their speeches that the problem of consciousness is also a philosophical problem. Hence, it requires thoughtful consideration of philosophers. Participants decided that for progress in solving this problem researchers from various (not only natural) disciplines have to cooperate.

Currently, much attention in the field of higher education is paid to the problems of the third stage – postgraduate education. The main problems are: reducing the awarding of scientific degrees, decreasing the reproduction of the personnel capacity of higher school and scientific activities. The purpose of the paper is to study the trajectories of postgraduate education, based on the data of empirical research “Professional trajectories of postgraduate students” at the Dubna State University and at the “National Research University “Higher School of Economics”. The main methods were a sociological survey and analysis of secondary information. Based on the results of the study, a portrait of a modern postgraduate student has been compiled. Two identical studies produced mostly different results. This suggests that there is a need for such research.

What happens during a rehearsal? How are actors' expectations and achievements affected by different directorial approaches, and how do the various ‘systems’ of acting fit with the responses of an audience? From Diderot through Stanislavski. Brecht. and Artaud to the work of such modern experimental directors as Brook, Grotowski, Chaikin, and Schechner, the theory may or may not be adequately tested against the practice. The author of two earlier, complementary studies in empirical theatre research – ‘Feedback as a Subsystem’ and ‘Prompt–Copy as a Subsystem’, both published inKodikas/Code: Ars Semeiotica(1984 and 1987) – Stratos E. Constantinidis here checks several normative fallacies which have influenced theatre practice by relating the findings of empirical research in theatre to the experimental work of theatre artists. The author, who has previously worked in the Universities of Iowa and Arizona, presently teaches theory and criticism in the Department of Theatre at Ohio State University.

The article presents the results of an empirical research, which purpose is to find differences in the components of moral activity, and in the correlations of these components, between groups of students from different faculties. The sample consisted of 79 students from the Chelyabinsk State University. 40 people are students of the Faculty of Psychology and Pedagogy and 39 are students of the Institute of Law. The main hypothesis is the assumption that there are significant differences between the components of moral activity in people who have chosen different paths of professional development. The study discovered a number of significant differences (p <0,05). Also within the framework of the study, we found correlations between the components of moral activity of two groups, and, as a result of this, carry out a comparative analysis. Based on the results of the study, it is possible to draw a conclusion about the existence of differences in the moral sphere among people who have chosen different paths of professional development in their lives.

The present research believes that teaching materials which promote Indonesian traditional heritages should be available for students both inside and outside the classroom. For this reason, the research aims to preserve the presence of local cultures in the mid of English culture’s popularity by developing a book which contains aformentioned topics. The outcome of this empirical research is a textbook used as media for extensive reading in the student’s pleasure time. Using the ADDIE approach, this research collected data from several undergraduate students currently studying at a state university in Indonesia. The students were requested to read the West Kalimantan Culinary Book and share their ideas on what they have just read. In addition, the book was evaluated by experts from linguistic and cultural fields. The student’s feedbacks were very useful as they would reflect a potential user’s view in the future. Meanwhile, evaluations from experts helped us verify if the book was developed properly. Results indicated that readers responded to this culinary book positively. The book was considered helpful and unique as it was written in the English language. Since the book was aimed for extensive reading materials, we also checked and confirmed that this book followed the principles of extensive reading expressed by Day and Bamford (2002). To conclude, the research indicates its limitation particularly in terms of generalisability and provides suggestions for further research in order to improve the instruments of the data collection.
