The objective of this research is to design English learning material for Junior High School in Indonesia. The material developed is intended as supplementary material to promote character education in English class. The material designed is based on Martel’s Life of Pi novel published in 2001. This novel is about Pi’s strategies to survive in the middle of the ocean and therefore it is suitable to promote character education. The developed material consists of four units. Each unit consists of reading, vocabulary, writing, group work and reflection. The four aspects of character education to learn are appreciate others, respect older people, be grateful and appreciate God’s creatures. Unit I consists of activities and materials to promote appreciation for others. Unit II deals with respecting the elders. Unit III is designed to promote gratefulness. While Unit IV is aimed at appreciation of God’s creatures. Research and Development is used as the method in conducting the study and designing the material. The instruments are including open-ended questionnaire, the themes found in “Life of Pi” Novel and one week observation during the English subject in the class. The developed material has been evaluated and deemed as very good after the revision. The tasks are considered as suitable for Junior High School students, the reading material is appropriate and the layout is interesting. The supplementary material is necessary due to the fact that the textbooks used in the Junior High School do not cover character education.

The internalization of character education in science learning through a variety of learning media has been researched recently, one of which is through the photonovela media which is the medium of insertion of character values in learning material. The focus of this research is; 1) developing photonovela learning media with character education on work material and energy, 2) knowing photonovela media feasibility as a supplement to physics learning with character education on work material and energy 3) knowing the response of students to photonovela media with character education in an energy material. This research is a Research and Development study adopted the development of Borg and Gall with the subject of junior high school students. The research instruments used were questionnaires by material experts, media experts, and junior high school physics teachers and questionnaires for students' responses in the three schools. The results of the assessment by material experts obtained a percentage of 85%, the assessment of media experts was 90%, and the assessment of junior high school teachers was 84.16%, while the response of students in three junior high schools was 87.6%, 94%, and 93.6%. In conclusion, this study produced a product in the form of appropriate photonovela media as a supplement to physics learning with character education on business material and energy

This study aims to determine the effect of the use of Jigsaw learning model on mutual respect in grade VIII junior high school students. The study population consisted of 3 classes totaling 72 students. The sample of this research is class VIII students, amounting to 23 students. The determination of the sample class of this study was carried out using random sampling techniques. The research data were obtained through the distribution of pre-test and post-test in which validity were tested using the product moment formula. Research data were analyzed using quantitative techniques through independent sample t-test. The results showed that the use of the Jigsaw learning model had a significant effect on the mutual respect of students in the eighth grade. The results of this study can be a reference for education practitioners and related parties in an effort to instill mutual respect for students in schools, especially in the learning process.These findings can be further research material to find models, methods, or media that can be used by education practitioners and related parties for character education in schools.

The research is an inventory aimed at identifying and categorizing the character values in the English package books for students of Islamic Junior High School or Madrasah Tsanawiyah by considering their relevance to Islamic character values in the Quran and Hadits. The method used was content analysis following Bogdan and Biklen model by analyzing, grouping, sorting, and synthesizing the values taken from the package books to draw the patterns.  The patterns were discussed to conclude the final findings to be disseminated as the list of inventory.  The main data source was the English package books published by the government and the supporting data were the Core Competencies taken from Curriculum 2013 for Junior High School (SMP) and Madrasah Tsanawiyah (MTs) or Islamic Junior High School students. There are 10 values inserted in the package books that are relevant to the Islamic religious characters. The result showed various English expressions relevant to Islamic character values which have a long-term and sustainable effect as a reference for character building by English teachers in developing English supplementary materials for Islamic Junior High School students.

To provide educational and learning services to students during the Covid-19 Pandemic, learning is carried out by learning from home. The disparity in learning achievements, especially related to attitude competencies, is strongly experienced during learning from home. This study aims to integrate attitude values through learning with Ki Hajar Dewantara’s scaffolding concept comprising Identifying, Imitating, Developing, Disseminating respectively. This scaffolding is applied to strengthen the character of junior high school students in Yogyakarta Special Province to become Pancasila Students. This is a Research and Development study which applies a qualitative approach. Respondents to this study were teachers, principals, students, parents and junior high school supervisors in this province. Data were collected using focus group discussion, interview, observation.. Data were analyzed using Miles and Huberman models which comprised data reduction, data display and inference stages. The results of this study is a character education strengthening model during learning from home applying Ki Hajar Dewantara’s scaffolding concept. This model contributes to policy making of character education strengthening during the learning from home online.

This research aims to obtain: (1) the description or description about the effectiveness of the implementation of the educational Character of the context of Gianyar in junior high, (2) the description or description about the effectiveness of the implementation of the education of minds. Pekerti reviewed from inp-utdi Junior Gianyar Regency, (3) the description or description about the effectiveness of the implementation of the education process in terms of Manners in the Junior High School of Gianyar Regency, and (4). A picture or a description of the effectiveness of the implementation of the educational Character of prduk Junior High School in Gianyar Regency. This research includes the type of evaluative research by adopting the model of evaluation of CIPP. Context variables measured with instruments in the form of a questionnaire context, input variables are measured with instruments in the form of questionnaire input, and process variables measured with instruments in the form of the questionnaire process, variable product is measured by instruments in the form of a questionnaire product. Sample research totalling 9 27 principal, teacher, and Junior High School students in the country 369 Gianyar Regency is drawn using random sampling techniques. The data in the form of a score variable context, the score variable inputs, and product and process variables score further analyzed with the road changed the score to a t-score. The results showed that: (1) education, implementation of Manners is effective in terms of the context of Gianyar in junior high (2) implementation of Character education is not effective in terms of input in Gianyar Junior 3) implementation of Character education is not effective in terms of the process of Gianyar in junior high, (4) the implementation of Character education is effective in terms of the process of Gianyar, in junior high. (5) educational implementation constraints manners is not terakomodasinya the value of the character that develops in the community. Once interpreted in a quadrant of the effectiveness criteria Glickman, the effectiveness of the implementation of Character education are included in the quadrant less effective. Thus it can be concluded that the SMP Negeri Gianyar Regency less effectively implement character education in terms of context, input, process and product.   Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memperoleh: (1) gambaran atau deskripsi tentang efektivitas pelaksanaan pendidikan Budi Pekerti  ditinjau dari konteks di SMP Kabupaten Gianyar, (2). gambaran atau deskripsi tentang efektivitas pelaksanaan pendidikan Budi Pekerti  ditinjau dari inp-utdi SMP Kabupaten Gianyar,(3) gambaran atau deskripsi tentang efektivitas pelaksanaan pendidikan Budi Pekerti  ditinjau dari proses di SMP Kabupaten Gianyar,dan (4). Gambaran atau deskripsi tentang efektivitas pelaksanaan pendidikan Budi Pekerti  ditinjau dari prduk di SMP Kabupaten Gianyar. Penelitian ini termasuk jenis penelitian evaluatif dengan mengadopsi model evaluasi CIPP. Variabel konteks diukur dengan instrumen berupa kuesioner konteks, variabel input diukur dengan instrumen berupa kuesioner input, dan variabel proses diukur dengan instrumen berupa kuesioner proses, Variabel produk diukur dengan instrumen berupa kuesioner produk. Sampel penelitian berjumlah 9 Kepala sekolah, 27 guru , dan 369 siswa pada  SMP Negeri Kabupaten Gianyar yang diambil dengan menggunakan teknik pengambilan sampel secara random. Data yang berupa skor variabel konteks, skor variabel input, dan skor variabel proses dan produk selanjutnya dianalisis dengan jalan mengubah skor tersebut ke skor-t. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: (1), pelaksanaan pendidikan Budi Pekerti adalah efektif ditinjau dari konteks di SMP Kabupaten Gianyar (2) pelaksanaan pendidikan Budi Pekerti adalah tidak efektif  ditinjau dari input di SMP Kabupaten Gianyar 3) pelaksanaan pendidikan Budi Pekerti adalah tidak efektif ditinjau dari proses di SMP Kabupaten Gianyar, (4) pelaksanaan pendidikan Budi Pekerti adalah efektif ditinjau dari proses di SMP Kabupaten Gianyar, . (5) kendala pengimplementasian pendidikan budi pekerti adalah tidak terakomodasinya nilai budi pekerti yang berkembang di masyarakat. Setelah diinterpretasikan dalam criteria efektivitas kuadran Glickman, efektivitas pelaksanaan pendidikan Budi Pekerti termasuk dalam kuadran kurang efektif. Dengan demikian dapat disimpulkan bahwa SMP Negeri Kabupaten Gianyar kurang efektif melaksanakan pendidikan budi pekerti ditinjau dari segi konteks, input,  proses dan produk. The purpose of this study is to determine the cooperative method of talking chips type in character education for junior high school students. Data is taken from trusted literature such as books and journals. The method used is a match (looking for a partner), 2. Think Fair-Share (thinking-pairing), 3. Talking chips, 4. roundtable. Penelitian ini akan mengarahkan pada sasaran pendidikan karakter di sekolah. Sasaran pendidikan karakter adalah seluruh sekolah di Indonesia terutama pada tingkat SMP negeri maupun swasta, karena di masa SMP peserta didik belum terlalu melawan kepada guru, seperti anak SMA, dan anak SMP tidak terlalu kecil untuk mendapatkan materi pendidikan karakter, seperti anak SD. Semua warga sekolah, meliputi para peserta didik, guru, karyawan administrasi, dan pimpinan sekolah menjadi sasaran program ini. Sekolah-sekolah yang selama ini telah berhasil melaksanakan pendidikan karakter dengan baik dijadikan sebagai best practices, yang menjadi contoh untuk disebarluaskan ke sekolah-sekolah lainnya.This research will lead to the target of character education in schools. The target of character education is all schools in Indonesia, especially at the public and private junior high school level, because in junior high school students are not too resistant to teachers, such as high school students, and junior high school children are not too young to get character education materials, such as elementary school children. All school residents, including students, teachers, administrative staff, and school leaders are the targets of this program. Schools that have been successful in carrying out character education well are used as best practices, which serve as examples to be disseminated to other schools.

Cell division is an abstract material for middle school students in which learning resources and supporting learning media are compulsory to use. This research and development aimed at developing learning supplement book of mitotic cell material for IX graders which eases them to identify cell division, particularly in mitotic phase. This study was developed based on ADDIE model which comprised of four stages (i.e. Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation). The validation test was conducted by teaching and learning material experts. The two stage tests were conducted in small and large trial groups. The qualitative and quantitative data gained were analyzed using percentage. The results showed that the percentage values were 86.2% (very feasible) for teaching material, 99.4% (very feasible) for learning material. The small-scale trial gained 87.8% (very feasible), meanwhile the large-scale test gained 88.3% (very feasible). In conclusion, the mitotic learning supplement book of cell division material for junior high school can be used as teaching material in classroom learning activities.
