The relevance of the work is due to the transformations of the modern system of social stratification and opportunities for social mobility, as well as the need to find relevant approaches for their study. The article is devoted to reconstruction in a holistic form of the main provisions of the theory of social stratification of P. Bourdieu. His vision of the social structure of modern society is original and based on numerous empirical studies. The article analyzes the methodological foundations and features of the theory of social stratification of the French sociologist. Heuristic potential of one of modern constructivist methodological approaches to analysis of social stratification and social mobility is considered. P. Bourdieu significantly contributed to the fact that the sociological explanation of the modern system of social stratification is being transformed. He described the main characteristics of the social structure of a post-industrial society, the main trends in its development, developed proposals for using some categories necessary to explain it. Developing his own theory of habitus and the theory of social capital, P. Bourdieu proposes to explore the position of the individual, which is represented through a lifestyle. Bourdieu’s theory of social stratification can be applied to the problems of modern social inequality. The article deals with the development of the theory of post-industrial society’s social stratification. Today it is difficult to present stratification research in the form of a harmonious ordered sequence. The social stratification theory of the famous French sociologist Alain Touraine does not fit any of the usual classical directions. He revises economic determinism and puts accents on the sphere of knowledge and culture. Touraine tries to overcome the long-standing traditions of structuralism through the analysis of social action and social relations when analyzing the social stratification system. The modern «programmable society» is characterized by departure from the economic struggle and economic decisions, which have lost the autonomy and the central place that they used to have in the previous societies. Touraine’s vision of the modern society’s social structure differs from the vision of other post-industrialism theorists, especially from the ideas of American sociology, in particular, those presented in D. Bell’s works. The author of the action theory focuses on the French model of society and takes into account the historical and cultural characteristics of its development. Touraine noted the significant changes which occurred in the stratification system of modern society and the nature of its main social conflict. It is the change in the power and the forms of social domination under the influence of new factors and social processes. The French sociologist made a significant contribution to the fact that the sociological explanation of the modern social stratification system is transformed. He described the main characteristics of the post-industrial society’s class structure, the main trends of its development, offered the ways of using some categories necessary for the description of the modern post-industrial society’s stratification system.

The article is devoted to the issues of the influence of modern social changes on the social effectiveness of the law. Social values and institutions are changing dramatically, and this must find expression in the rule of law. According to the author, modern social structure is characterized by an unprecedented increase in the complexity of the social organization, the strengthening of cultural and exchange ties, increasing cultural diversity, the formation of standards typical of the era of mass industrial society, and their corresponding personality, trying to realize their creative potential. At the same time, the author notes that in modern society, people often become a mass tool for resolving social conflicts. According to the author, in modern conditions, the social structure has also undergone significant transformations, but the existing social reality is very contradictory. On the one hand, economic efficiency is increasing and the most highly-paid and privileged strata are expanding. On the other hand, for the majority of the population, economic stagnation persists and the socio-economic situation is deteriorating. Keywords: transformation, globalization, social effectiveness of the law.

In modern conditions, the global problems facing humanity have moved from the space of theoretical discussions to the space of practical issues that require immediate solutions at the level of individual countries and the world community as a whole. These changes are associated with a new technological revolution in social production, which is being discussed today not only by theoretical scientists, but also by chief business practitioners and political leaders of the most influential countries of the world. Fundamental alterations are also taking place in the social stratification of society. The article discusses the theory, which can explain the social system arising in the course of these transformations – Noonomy conception, created by Sergey D. Bodrunov. An analysis of its constituents is presented, as well as contingent ways to attain this state of social system, including formation of the second-generation New Industrial Society (NIS.2), socialization of the social life, the new industrialization, based on the integration of science, education and manufacture. Reflecting on Bodrunov’s works, author gives an account of his own thoughts about possible future scenarios, with challenges, that may appear before mankind in close perspective, among those. The paper is a proposal to discuss problems concerned with global transformation of modern society, which were emphasized by the Noonomy theory creator.

Egyptian domination under the 18th and 19th Dynasties deeply influenced political and social life in Syria and Palestine. The correspondence between Egypt and her vassals in Syria and Palestine in the Amarna age, first half of the fourteenth century B.C., preserved for us in the Amarna letters, written in cuneiform on clay tablets discovered in 1887, offer several terms that can shed light on the social structure during the Late Bronze Age. In the social stratification of Syria and Palestine under Egyptian rule according to the Amarna letters, three classes are discernible:1) government officials and military personnel, 2) free people, and 3) half-free people and slaves. In this study, I shall limit myself to the first, the upper class. This article deals with terminology for government officials.

The article considers the contradictions and conflicts that are characteristic of modern Russian society. The processes of social disintegration are analyzed and interpreted as a result of fundamental social and economic transformations. The problems of economic inequality are presented in the historical perspective in close connection with the previous stages of Russia's socioeconomic development. Significant polarization of the population is one of the most significant conflict factors in modern society, which leads to an increase in protest moods and may in the long term threaten social upheavals. Nevertheless, dissatisfaction with the socio-economic situation does not lead to ideas of the unification and consolidation of society, but find expression in social conflicts. The emergence and development of social conflicts is influenced by a number of factors: economic, ethnic, religious. One of the most important characteristics of society is its social structure. After the collapse of the USSR, the previous social structure was abolished, and a new social reality was formed in Russia. When considering the stratification structure of society, most attention is paid to the middle class, which is considered the backbone of a stable society. The middle class in Russia is in the stage of formation, it is hardly possible to speak of a complete analogy with the middle class of Western society. The share of middle class in society can be estimated in different ways depending on the methodological approaches used by researchers. An important consequence of the transformation of the social structure was the problem of marginalization, since the dismantling of the old social structure and the slow formation of the new one put the social status and place in the division of labor system of many individuals into question. The sharp impoverishment of representatives of prestigious professions led to a reassessment of their situation, especially for the younger generation. When analyzing the origins of social conflicts in modern Russian society, it is necessary to consider the issue of the attitude of the broad masses of the population to power and national elites. It should be noted that power in Russia historically takes shape around specific leaders and does not have an institutional character. The most significant factor shaping the attitude towards the authorities and the elite in general in Russian society are the economic results of the market reforms that have taken place. Only a small part of the population believes that they won as a result of the changes that have taken place, the natural consequence of which is the population's distrust of the authorities and, in general, political institutions.

The paper examines the features of the social stratification of the Ancient system at an early stage of development, the stages of the emergence of various strata depending on political events from the 10th to the 12th centuries. The subject of this research is the process of the formation of social strata in the ancient European state. The purpose of the publication is to consider the social structure of Ancient Rus, to determine and describe the stratification and interaction of strata with each other, to study this issue, political events that affect these processes. The main research issue was the historical events that influenced the formation of social strata from the 10th to the 12th centuries, the emergence of social strata in a given historical period and the forms of their interaction. Answering this question, the author arrives at the conclusion that the disintegration of the patriarchal-communal system, the formation of a feudal vassalage, the principle of primacy, the princely squad and other internal political events influenced the formation of social strata of the state. In connection with these historical events, it is possible to trace the stages of the origin of social strata of the population, their composition, social functions in society and the state.

For a qualitative analysis of the state of modern society and financial relations prevailing in the financial system of our country, it is especially important to study issues related to attracting public finances to the state economy. The long process of developing commodity-money relations has radically changed the content of finance. If earlier in these relations the main and fundamental role was played by the monarchs, the state, as the owners of all property, then in the XX century. The main owners of valuables, including enterprises and firms, are citizens, and the state represented by public authorities acts as an intermediary and a consumer of redistributed wealth. Confirming this thesis, P. Drucker expressed that the main impetus of progress now comes not from the social structure, but from an individual, and the present time requires every person to take effective actions to transform not only society, but above all himself [1 ].
