SAFEPOST is an FP7 European project which was active from April 2012 to July 2016 with the goal of a “reuse and development of Security Knowledge assets for International Postal supply chains”, as its full title explains. SAFEPOST addressed threats to postal security by designing and experimenting a sensor network detection system including gas, radiation, Raman spectroscopy and image-based sensors. In 2015, while SAFEPOST was running, the US Postal Service and IBM suggested the idea of applying sensors to the postal infrastructure components to bring the acquired data to the next supply chain level and optimize efficiency and costs, leading to an Internet of Postal Things. In this paper we provide a perspective view on how the SAFEPOST and Internet of Postal Things approaches can be merged and generalized to supply chains involving not only postal items, but also logistic infrastructures and business processes, in order to design an Internet of Safe Postal+Things.

The Internet has revolutionised the way that business is conducted by customers and organisations that serve them. Texts are now being devoted to explaining how e-business can be practically undertaken, for example see Lawrence et al. (2003). There is a rapidly emerging trend of organizations using Intranet portals for internal business processes and communication between employees and their organisation. This is well documented in this and other books, for example see Tatnall (2004).

Decisions on public policy can be affected if important segments of the population are systematically excluded from the data used to drive the decisions. In the US, Spanishspeakers make up an important subgroup that surveys conducted in English-only underrepresent. This subgroup differs in a variety of characteristics and they are less likely to respond to surveys in English-only. These factors lead to nonresponse biases that are problematic for survey estimates. For surveys conducted by mail, one solution is to include both English and Spanish materials in the survey package. For addresses in the US where Spanish-speakers are likely to be living, this approach is effective, but it still may omit some non-English-speakers. Traditionally, including both English and Spanish materials for addresses not identified as likely to have Spanish-speakers was considered problematic due to concerns of a backlash effect. The backlash effect is that predominantly English-speakers might respond at a lower rate because of the inclusion of Spanish materials. Prior research found no evidence of a backlash, but used a twophase approach with a short screener questionnaire to identify the eligible population for an education survey. In this paper, we report on experiments in two surveys that extend the previous research to criminal victimization and health communication single-phase surveys. These experiments test the effect of the inclusion of Spanish language materials for addresses not identified as likely to have Spanish-speakers. Our findings confirm most results of the previous research; however we find no substantial increase in Spanish-only participation when the materials are offered in both languages for addresses that are not likely to have Spanish-speakers. We offer some thoughts on these results and directions for future research, especially with respect to collecting data by the Internet.

In this digital age, human dependency on technology in various fields has been increasing tremendously. Torrential amounts of different electronic products are being manufactured daily for everyday use. With this advancement in the world of Internet technology, cybersecurity of software and hardware systems are now prerequisites for major business’ operations. Every technology on the market has multiple vulnerabilities that are exploited by hackers and cyber-criminals daily to manipulate data sometimes for malicious purposes. In any system, the Intrusion Detection System (IDS) is a fundamental component for ensuring the security of devices from digital attacks. Recognition of new developing digital threats is getting harder for existing IDS. Furthermore, advanced frameworks are required for IDS to function both efficiently and effectively. The commonly observed cyber-attacks in the business domain include minor attacks used for stealing private data. This article presents a deep learning methodology for detecting cyber-attacks on the Internet of Things using a Long Short Term Networks classifier. Our extensive experimental testing show an Accuracy of 99.09%, F1-score of 99.46%, and Recall of 99.51%, respectively. A detailed metric representing our results in tabular form was used to compare how our model was better than other state-of-the-art models in detecting cyber-attacks with proficiency.

Abstract The Internet Archive curated a 90-terabyte sub-collection of captures from the US government's public website domain (‘.gov’). Such archives provide largely untapped resources for measuring attributes, behaviors and outcomes relevant to political science research. This study leverages this archive to measure a novel dimension of federal legislators' religiosity: their proportional use of religious rhetoric on official congressional websites (2006–2012). This scalable, time-variant measure improves upon more costly, time-invariant conventional approaches to measuring legislator attributes. The authors demonstrate the validity of this method for measuring legislators' public-facing religiosity and discuss the contributions and limitations of using archived Internet data for scientific analysis. This research makes three applied methodological contributions: (1) it develops a new measure for legislator religiosity, (2) it models an improved, more comprehensive approach to analyzing congressional communications and (3) it demonstrates the unprecedented potential that archived Internet data offer to researchers seeking to develop meaningful, cost-effective approaches to analyzing political phenomena.

For economic entities, business partnerships are not based on individual competition or improving individual business processes, but on improving supply chains. When making management decisions, the question arises about the performance indicators of business processes both at the level of an economic entity and at the macro level. When assessing the effectiveness of supply chains, it is necessary to assess the costs arising in the course of financial and economic activities. The logistics component has a large share in the supply costs. A full accounting of logistics costs allows you to obtain reliable information for the analysis and development of measures to reduce them, which increases the efficiency of the entire economic activity of an economic entity. The article proposes a classification of logistics costs according to the degree of added value creation and dependence on the volume of production, including the allocation of transaction costs, which make up a significant share in the overall structure of logistics costs. The classification of logistics costs should be transformed depending on the organizational and legal form of the organization and the field of activity. The system of accounting for the logistics costs of economic entities should highlight them when implementing all logistics functions; study information about the most significant logistics costs and the nature of their occurrence; study the interdependencies of logistics costs throughout the entire supply chain. The developed system allows keeping separate accounting of logistics costs on a separate account, which makes it possible to control them. In modern conditions, organizations are faced with the need to integrate various types of accounting, including accounting, management and statistical. The algorithm for the implementation of this task includes four stages: development of a methodology for the integration of accounting, management and statistical accounting; formation of management accounting policies; development of data transformation regulations; selection of software for the automation of statistical, accounting and management accounting

The development of the field of information technology is very rapid, therefore many companies, industries, shops and other business entities are using information systems to increase their business. Online sales information systems are used to carry out business processes such as distribution, sales, purchasing, marketing of goods or services by using communication networks and the internet. Online sales information systems can help people who do not have a place or shop to carry out their business. Students in this case, especially at the Catholic University of Santo Thomas, are an opportunity to take advantage of this facility in carrying out their business, especially if they do not have a place or shop to carry out their business. For this reason, an online sales information system was built that can be accessed through the website.

The aftermath of the pandemic in 2020 shocked the country’s economy, but at the same time, the desire to keep the business allowed, in record time, to completely rebuild the usual patterns of behavior in the implementation of business processes across all sectors of the economy. The inability to go to work, solve everyday issues, carry out a commodity-money exchange, allowed the remote service model to burst so rapidly. The construction of a mechanism for the formation of work on the basis of electronic platforms, software products, Internet sources made it possible to form a single development trend - digitalization. This process is inextricably linked with the Internet, the digitization of the actions of all market participants. In this article, using the banking sector as an example, the main problems of modern digital services are considered, based on which the main directions of innovation are put forward, as well as promising areas of investment are substantiated.

Bus is one of public transportation and as the most preferable by Indonesian to support their mobility. The high number of bus traffics then demands the bus management to provide the maximum service for their passenger, in order to gain public trust. Unfortunately, in the reality passenger list’s fraud is often faced by the bus management, there is a mismatch list between the amount of deposits made by bus driver and the number of passengers carried by the bus, and as the result it caused big loss for the Bus management. Automatic Passenger Counting (APC) then as an artificial intelligence program that is considered to cope with the bus management problems. This research carried out an APC technology based on passenger face detection using the Viola-Jones method, which is integrated with an embedded system based on the Internet of Things in the processing and data transmission. To detect passenger images, a webcam is provided that is connected to the Raspberry pi which is then sent to the server via the Internet to be displayed on the website provided. The system database will be updated within a certain period of time, or according to the stop of the bus (the system can be adjusted according to management needs). The system will calculate the number of passengers automatically; the bus management can export passenger data whenever as they want. There are 3 main points in the architecture of modeling system, they are information system design, device architecture design, and face detection mechanism design to calculate the number of passengers. A system design test is carried out to assess the suitability of the system being built with company needs. Then, based on the questionnaire distributed to the respondent, averagely 85.12 % claim that the Face detection system is suitability. The score attained from 4 main aspects including interactivity, aesthetics, layout and personalization
