AbstractThe criteria recommended for the performance of internal assessment are the ones included in the national model for school inspection applied by the inspectors in the school inspectorate or the Ministry of Education (with subsequent names) who carry out internal assessments. Educational establishments can also decide on certain additional criteria - in line with the specific needs. All educational establishments must perform the annual assessment of activity, regarding school development, educational programs, curricular and extracurricular activities, quality of the teaching-learning process, human resources development, relations with the community and European dimension in the education offered. A tricky problem is represented by the specific assessment of Children Centres and Clubs that carry out non-formal activity, without school programs and handbooks approved by the Ministry of Education. Carrying out an analysis of the manner of assessing formal and non-formal educational units, the need to readjust the internal and external assessment was identified. At the level of school inspectorates, school inspection is carried out by a team consisting of specialised inspectors who know the specificity of those educational units. The main problem is represented by the external assessment carried out by ARACIP with the help of standard specific means: fields, indicators, reference descriptors and specific descriptors. Through the study performed, a series of proposals on the beneficial amendments for the quality assessment within Children Centres and Clubs is identified.

The report is devoted to the problem of reading with understanding in the fourth grade. The problem of the levels of reading literacy of elementary school pupils is also affected by international systems for assessing their achievements worldwide - PISA and PIRLS. The worrying results show that Bulgaria occupies one of the last places of literacy in the charts of the two international systems, which implies the necessity of introducing changes in the educational system. For this reason, the National External Assessment at the end of the 4th grade was introduced, based on the level of literacy and reader competence of our students. As a result of yearly tests and many expert studies, we disprove the information originally presented that we are at the bottom of the literacy chart in Europe. During the last few years, Bulgarian students have not only improved their literacy skills, but they have also been among the successful participants in national reading competitions, the project initiatives organized by the Ministry of Education and Science and the clubs for readership interests of the local libraries .Our pupils work on learning projects both in school time and in extracurricular activities that teachers place on their own. Design works are not only a pleasant activity for learners, but also a way of enriching the child's personality, building useful competencies and stimulating the development of creative activity. Apart from the above, the project activities allow students to share ideas, experiences, interests, teamwork, listen and respect with respect to their classmate's point of view, to communicate as equal partners in the process of project endeavors. Teamwork brings together the class and sets the foundations for a friendly work environment where each team member makes every effort to finalize the project.

As Lithuania is getting integrated into the European education dimension, the quality of education activities becomes of utmost importance. The quality of education activities in the countries of the European Union is considered to be the main priority of their education policy. The issues of quality and efficiency of education and general secondary school activities is becoming topical, and the problem of performance quality assessment arises. The kindergartens-schools of Lithuania follow the quality assessment provisions established by the National School Assessment Agency. The external assessment of performance reveals the quality of activities of kindergartens - schools, their ability to change, develop and seek solutions. The present study is the first scientific contribution towards further analysis of the kindergartens-schools performance quality. When analyzing the national assessment results of the Lithuanian kindergartens – schools performance assessed during 2007–2011 it has been established that the performance quality as to the spheres and themes was evaluated to be of the 2nd level (not bad). The analysis of strengths (+10) showed that the most often specified (eight kindergartens-schools) strengths were the cozy environment (1.3.3), and the least noted strengths (in three institutions) were grading in the teaching / learning process (2.6), grading as cognition and information (2.6.3) and personnel management (5.4). Analysis of the performance aspects to-be-further-improved (–5) showed that the most occurring recommendation (seven kindergartens-schools) for further development was the differentiation of teaching / learning (2.5.2), and the least occurring (four kindergartens - schools) – further improvement of homework system (2.3.5), grading process (5.2.1), grading in teaching / learning process (2.6), and teaching of learning skills (2.4.2). It seems that educational system in Nigeria has undergone only quantitative improvement in terms of number of schools and students’ enrolment. However, there has been little effort in respect to the capacity to manage them through provisions of adequate financial, human, material and physical resources. Physical and material resources in secondary schools were discovered to be inadequate and poorly equipped. Some of the secondary school buildings were dilapidated, also the allocated financial resource, teaching and non-teaching staff are grossly inadequate compared with the students’ enrolment. The public, the Ministry of Education and other stakeholders in education are expressing serious concern about the consistency of the poor performance of secondary school students especially in mathematics. Increase in population and the government’s free education programs make people want to take advantage of the education provided. Provision of both professionally qualified and non-qualified teachers by government and non-state providers of education also appear not to ameliorate the problem of declining performances in mathematics. The effect of all these on the public secondary school student academic performance in mathematics concern the researchers of this study. It is against this background that the study sought to empirically investigates effect of resource factors and quality of instruction on performance in mathematics of Nigeria secondary school students.

This paper is concerned with concepts such as quality of education, evaluation of the standard of the work of the teacher and comparison of educational results. It points to the importance of standards and the difficulties involved in their implementation. It also discusses the concept of competence and its relevance to framework educational programmes and the further education of teachers. The paper also focuses on a number of trends in education that are less widely discussed: instability — permanent change, reduction of education, emphasis on topicality and practical applicability, underestimation of the system, etc. The final part of the paper presents a current project from the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport of the Czech Republic — a proposal for career progression.

Abstract Background The educational beliefs of medical educators influence their teaching practices. Insight into these beliefs is important for medical schools to improve the quality of education they provide students and to guide faculty development. Several studies in the field of higher education have explored the educational beliefs of educators, resulting in classifications that provide a structural basis for diverse beliefs. However, few classification studies have been conducted in the field of medical education. We propose a framework that describes faculty beliefs about teaching, learning, and knowledge which is specifically adapted to the medical education context. The proposed framework describes a matrix in which educational beliefs are organised two dimensionally into belief orientations and belief dimensions. The belief orientations range from teaching-centred to learning-centred; the belief dimensions represent qualitatively distinct aspects of beliefs, such as ‘desired learning outcomes’ and ‘students’ motivation’. Methods We conducted in-depth semi-structured interviews with 26 faculty members, all of whom were deeply involved in teaching, from two prominent medical schools. We used the original framework of Samuelowicz and Bain as a starting point for context-specific adaptation. The qualitative analysis consisted of relating relevant interview fragments to the Samuelowicz and Bain framework, while remaining open to potentially new beliefs identified during the interviews. A range of strategies were employed to ensure the quality of the results. Results We identified a new belief dimension and adapted or refined other dimensions to apply in the context of medical education. The belief orientations that have counterparts in the original Samuelowicz and Bain framework are described more precisely in the new framework. The new framework sharpens the boundary between teaching-centred and learning-centred belief orientations. Conclusions Our findings confirm the relevance of the structure of the original Samuelowicz and Bain beliefs framework. However, multiple adaptations and refinements were necessary to align the framework to the context of medical education. The refined belief dimensions and belief orientations enable a comprehensive description of the educational beliefs of medical educators. With these adaptations, the new framework provides a contemporary instrument to improve medical education and potentially assist in faculty development of medical educators.

Good extracurricular activities can optimize the quality of education, fetch up with classroom education and teach them what they cannot learn from it, is conducive to improve students’ comprehensive quality, to complete the task and achieve the goal of university education. For this reason, this paper proposes an extracurricular sports lifestyle evaluation to college students via an improved ELECTRE method. In the proposed method, three indexes – concordance index, non-concordance index and credibility index – are defined first. Based on these indexes, the preference evaluation matrix is constructed, and consistent credibility, non-consistent credibility and net credibility are computed second. Third, it was sorted for the quality of all alternatives according to the value of group net credibility. In general, the greater the value of the group net credibility of a project, the better the project is. Simulation experiments suggest that this proposed method is feasible and valid. Extracurricular activities for college students take a very important part of university education, and it models their characters, opens up their minds, adventure spirits, strengthens their social connections, improve their comprehensive quality and their personal positive socialization.

Recent policy initiatives instituted by major accrediting bodies require the implementation of specific assessment tools to provide evidence of student achievement in a number of areas, including applied music study. The purpose of this research was to investigate the effectiveness of a multidimensional assessment rubric, which was administered to all students performing instrumental and vocal juries at a private Midwestern university during one semester ( N = 359). Interjudge reliability coefficients indicated a moderate to high level of agreement among judges. Results also revealed that performance achievement was positively related to participants' year in school (freshman, sophomore, junior, and senior), which indicates that a multidimensional assessment rubric can effectively measure students' achievement in the area of solo music performance.
