Analysis of a single-phase capacitor induction motor operating at two power line frequenciesThe paper presents a modelling mathematical tool for prediction of dynamic and steady-states operation of the single-phase capacitor induction motor for different values of the capacitor capacitance and different frequency of voltage supply at no-load and rated load conditions. Developed mathematical model of the capacitor induction motor was implemented for calculation using Matlab/Simulink software. Presented simulation results may be utilized to achieve better starting quality of single-phase capacitor induction motors.

In order to realize dielectric elastomer stack actuators suitable for dynamic applications a new actuator design with rigid, perforated electrodes is developed. The low surface resistance of the metal electrodes predestines this concept for dynamic applications where higher currents are present. Detailed numerical analyses are performed to show the potential of this approach, to study the complex material deformation and to optimize the aperture geometry. A multilayer stack actuator is then manufactured and characterized experimentally under various load conditions to gain suitable parameters for a parametrized model. It is subsequently used to attenuate vibrations of a truss structure. By careful adjusting the parameters it functions both as passive absober and as actuator. A comparison of experimental and simulation results proves the high quality of the simulation model. The work shows the great potential of the new design concept for future applications especially in the field of smart structures.

A 1-phase induction motor usually has a complicated windings design which compares to polyphase induction motor. In addition, a large capacitor start is required to operate the motor. It is an expensive way to operate the motor if it compare to polyphase induction motor. So, a new innovation method is required to make the motor more simple and cheaper. This research is purposed to study a new winding design for a single-phase capacitor motor. Winding design of the motor was conducted to a simple winding design like a 4-phase induction motor that has four identical windings. The comparator motor that use in this study was a Three-phase induction motor with data 1400 RPM, 1.5 HP, 50Hz, 380/220V, Y/Δ, 2.74/4.7A, 4 poles, that had the same current rating which the proposed method. The result showed that the motor design on this proposed method could be operated at 88.18 % power rating with power factor close to unity.

This article presents the effectiveness of bispectrum analysis for the detection of the rotor unbalance of an induction motor supplied by the mains and a frequency converter. Two diagnostic signals were analyzed, as well as the stator current and mechanical vibrations of the tested motors. The experimental tests were realized for two low-power induction motors, with one and two pole pairs, respectively. The unbalance was modeled using a test mass mounted on a specially prepared disc and directly on the rotor and the influence of this unbalance location was tested and discussed. The results of the bispectrum analysis are compared with results of Fourier transform and the effectiveness of unbalance detection are discussed and compared. The influence of the registration time of the analyzed signal on the quality of fault symptom analyses using both transforms was also tested. It is shown that the bispectrum analysis provides an increased number of fault symptoms in comparison with the classical spectral analysis as well as it is not sensitive to a shorter registration time of the diagnostic signals.

The theory and method of analyzing the no-load magnetic field of single phase synchronous generator(SPSG) is presented in this article, and the no-load voltage of SPSG is simulated based on ANSYS program. The no-load voltage simulation results of a SPSG resemble its test results, which prove the simulation method in this article is correct and effective. The simulation results can provide theoretical bases and method for engineers in optimizing the design parameters to improve the power supply quality of SPSG.

Abstract This paper deals with the performance analysis of different PWM techniques for three-phase and dual three-phase induction motors. In this paper, the dual three-phase induction motor is reconnected as a three-phase and six-phase winding configurations and its performances are investigated. The comparative evaluation for the aforesaid machine configurations are carried out in terms of quality of stator current waveform with different PWM techniques. Total harmonic distortion are obtained in terms of harmonic distortion factor for stator current. The theoretical findings are further verified through simulation and experimental results.

In the drives of high-speed devices, such as a blood centrifuge, dynamic states also play an important role in terms of the time and quality of the tests performed. The article presents the application of modified equations resulting from the mathematical model of an induction motor to model dynamic phenomena during motor start-up, both with mains supply and with frequency start-up. The applied solution considers the phenomenon of current displacement in the rotor bar and the phenomenon of saturation. The comparison of the obtained results with the experiment shows that the method is sufficiently accurate. The obtained results can also be extended to higher power machines and to modeling other dynamic states.

The paper deals with a modeling and simulation of the direct AC-AC propulsion system and compares two matrix converter concepts with five-phase traction induction motors (IM) for the hybrid electric vehicle (HEV). The simulation results of [3x5] matrix converter and 4Q-converter are done using Matlab-Simulink environment. Part I deals with a theoretical study of converter concepts for hybrid electric vehicle, since the configurations of [3x5]+[0x5] matrix converters with five-phase motor(s) have not been analyzed so far. Based on simulation results the comparison and evaluation of the property and quality of the quantities of different type of the matrix powertrain are discussed in Part II.
