Samalona Island is one of the tourist destinations in Makassar. Therefore it needs an effective strategy for the tourism development by empowering local communities.The research aims were identifying and analyzing potency and tourist attraction, community participation and formulate development strategies.This research applied theory of tourism area life cycle, theory of planning and theory of participation. The data were collected by documentation studies, observation and in–depth interviews.Data were analyzed by descriptive qualitative method and matrix SWOT.The results suggested that Samalona Island is very feasible to be developing as a community-based tourism destination with the natural and socio-cultural potencies.The development of those obstacles are by applied strategies are as follows; strategy of strength–opportunity (S–O) with development strategy of tourism destination and development strategy of tourism attraction, strategy of strength–threat (S–T) with improvement strategy of environmental quality, development strategy of sustainable tourism, strategy of weakness–opportunity (W–O) with promotion strategy of tourism destination, whereas strategy of weakness–threat (W–T) with development strategy of human resources and development strategy of institutional and management of destination.

Purpose: The purpose of this study is identifying and mapping to select pre-existing potential and the management of tourist attraction which have been developed both from attraction and supporting facility on all tourist attraction in Denpasar city. Research methods: This research used qualitative method with technique of participant observation collecting data, comprehensive interviews and documentation. Results and discussions: The results of this research are recommendation of tourist destinations equally considered for development using Integrated Model of the destination competitiveness model created by Dwyer and Kim (2003). The final results of development strategies are based on the analysis of SWOT. Conclusion: In order to be able to focus on the competitiveness of a destination, a macro business perspective is required for the entire tourism industry, meaning that all stakeholders should work with each other by focusing on the common benefits of destination rather than on opportunistic objectives

This research aims to determine the potential of tourism based on supporting and inhibiting factors of rural tourism development in Desa Kemetul and analyzing the strategy of community-based tourism in Desa Kemetul. The research was conducted in Desa Kemetul Kecamatan Susukan Kabupaten Semarang. This study uses qualitative method which the data obtained through depth interviews with Kepala Desa Kemetul, Chairman of POKDARWIS Sekar Kanthil, Local Communities, and Dinas Pariwisata Kabupaten Semarang, and then the data were analyzed using SWOT analysis. The study concluded that Desa Kemetul has a lot of tourism potential to become tourist attraction. Desa Kemetul needs to consider strengthening flagship product, the strategy of sustainable development of a tourist attraction, and strategies for institutional development and human resources.

Bonto Tiro Subdistrict is one of the areas in Bulukumba Regency which has a tourism potential that can be developed as a marine tourism attraction, one of which is the Samboang beach, where the beach has beautiful panoramic views with white sandy beaches, and the presence of coral reefs. can be used as one of the attractions, besides the underwater scenery is also reliable and is also a potential area for the development of marine tourism, this research is focused on aspects of developing tourist destinations with various components of tourism destinations in Samboang Beach, Bonto Tiro District, Bulukumba Regency. This study aims to find out how the development of tourism destinations in the Samboang beach through 4 tourism components, namely Attraction, Accessibility, Ancillary, Amenity in supporting marine tourism destinations so that they develop even more. This research is qualitative research with an observation approach, and research instruments in the form of a list of interviews, field observations and literature studies, while the theories underlying this research are tourism destination theory and tourism development theory. And from the research results obtained by researchers, it can be concluded that the development of marine tourism destinations is very supportive in developing the region as an area that has a tourist attraction.

ABSTRACTThis study aims to describe the tourism potential and formulate the development of the Matalafang Traditional Village as a cultural tourism destination in Alor Regency. Matalafang Traditional Village is one of the tourist destinations, where the Abui tribes live. The Abui tribe, as one of the largest tribes who inhabit Nusa Kenari Island, has various cultural potentials tourism to be developed. This is in line with the increasing number of tourists visiting. Through qualitative descriptive methods, extracting information is obtained by field observations, structured interviews with 6 key informants, documentation of traditional villages, and literature studies on Matalafang Traditional Village and Alor Regency Tourism. The results showed that the attractiveness of cultural tourism in the Matalafang Traditional Village in the form of the Balai Hatel Traditional Ceremony as a ritual to enter the garden, the Caka Lele dance, the unifying dance of the Alor community Lego-Lego, weaving Ikat for dancing, the fourth level traditional house, and various woven bamboo crafts for putting sirih pinang traditional snacks on it. The strategy formulation is an effort to develop the Matalafang Traditional Village as a cultural tourism destination, such as increasing the awareness of culture-based tourism for the local community, maintaining the authenticity of dance as a tourist attraction, increasing tourist activities after the ritual of opening the garden as alternative tourism, and maintaining the condition of the traditional village that is still original.Keywords: Destinations, Traditional Villages, Matalafang, Cultural Tourism, Development Strategies

Cilacap is one of the districts in Central Java that has tourism potential with various tourism destination. One of them is Waduk Kubangkangkung. This Waduk Kubangkangkung is a tourism destination that offers beautiful natural tourism and also attractive tourism attraction. The purpose of this study was to determine the role of the local community in Waduk Kubangkangkung development, knowing the manager‘s efforts in developing Waduk Kubangkangkung as a sustainable tourism destination, and finding the development strategy of Waduk Kubangkangkung to attract tourists . While the method used in this research is descriptive qualitative method and SWOT analysis. The results of this study are the need for collaboration between managers and other stakeholders towards Waduk Kubangkangkung, improve promotion and also facilities that needed by tourists. This article is about development strategy of Kuta Lombok as a sustainable tourism destination. It aims were identifying and analyzing potencies, obstacles, and formulating the strategies and programs.This article applied theory of planning and theory of tourism area life cycle. The data were collected by observation, in–depth interviews, and documentation studies. Data was analyzed by descriptive qualitative method, and analysis of matrix SWOT: Strengths, Weakness, Opportunities, and Threats.Potency of Kuta Lombok as a sustainable tourism destinations are consists of nature and social culture potency. The factors are that become obstacles as such the lack of adequate human resources, management of tourism destination, lack of public awareness in preventing the cleanliness and environmental sustainability, also security and comfort. The article proposes that two grand strategies include strategy of market penetration and development of tourism product.

Slangit is a village in Cirebon, West Java that has potentials to be used as a cultural tourist attraction. These potentials include tradition and custom ceremonies, traditional art of masks and mask performances. This article investigates the the development strategy of cultural attractions in the village of Slangit. Data collection are conducted by observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. Data was analysed using a descriptive qualitative method and by using SWOT analysis. The result shows that theattempt to use arts potential as tourist attraction has been fairly developed by artists group but it is far from adequate becausethe lack of coordination between artists group and the authorityresponsible to promote culture and tourism. It is suggested thatthe government to work together with communities and artists topromote the village potentials as cultural tourism attractions bothas away to preserve arts and to develop tourism as source of localeconomy.

This research is concerned to elaborate new potential tourist attraction in Desa Pemo Taman Nasional Kelimutu. Desa Pemo has special attraction that is authentic and unique related with nature and culture. The method used is qualitative with descriptive approach. The data collected through in depth interviews with Head of Desa Pemo, Representative of Taman Nasional Kelimutu management, community member, and tourist. The data analyzed using IFAS EFAS analysis and SWOT analysis. The result shows that Desa Pemo has a authentic and unique attraction from the beauty of nature, culture, and hospitable community. Desa Pemo is classified in Quadrant I which means needs to take advantage of external opportunities, overcome internal weaknesses and avoid external threats.  Keywords: Development Strategy, SWOT Analysis, Community-Based Ecotourism

Solo or administratively called as Surakarta is a cultural heritage city of the Mataram Kingdom. Tourism of the city shows its development in terms of tourism variety, attractiveness, and amenity. One of the developments leads to halal tourism potentials. The aims of the study are 1) to identify the halal tourism potentials concerning on 4A approach (attraction, amenity, accessibility, and ancillary) as major components of tourism; 2) to examine the opportunities of halal tourism destination to meet the criteria set by GMTI (Global Muslim Travel Index). This study uses a qualitative method. Data were collected through interview, observation, literature review and documentation. The identification of halal tourism products leads to substantive object as basic for reviewing tourism development opportunities. The collected data was analyzed into four 4A variables based on Miles and Hubberman analysis to be presented descriptively. The results showed that halal tourism potentials based on carrying capacity of tourism products is high. The existence of attractions, amenity, accessibility and tourism institution throughout city and the surrounding areas become an important element in the development of halal tourism. As a halal tourism destination, Solo has significant opportunities, especially the availability of amenity in the form of sharia hotels, restaurants and community-based cultural attraction that has grown in line with growth of world’s halal tourism. The accessibility and ancillary variables are still being homework for halal tourism stakeholders to meet the standards set by GMTI. The variables that make Solo feasible for halal destination are in attraction and amenity while accessibility and institutional sector still requires serious handling if referring to the needs of Muslim tourists.
