Tourism development in an area is able to give an impact on various dimensions of local people life. One of the impacts of tourism development is on the economic dimension. It happened to Sawahlunto, a city in West Sumatera famous for its coal mines, which slowly developed into a tourist city. The purpose of this study was to find out the Strength & Weakness, Opportunity & Threat and to formulate the development strategy of Kota Tua as a tourism destination in Sawahlunto, West Sumatra. The research method is descriptive method using SWOT analysis. The results showed that the development strategy of the Old City area of Sawahlunto used a lot of SWOT analysis, namely by increasing and optimizing natural resources through good processing, improving road access, and improving the tourism sector of Old City Sawahlunto. Another strategy is improving human resources through counseling and training, socialization of science and technology. The tourism potential of Sawahlunto old town on the 4A tourism component (Attraction, Accessibility, Amenities and Ancillary) shows that this area has the potential of historical tourist attraction. The historical heritage of World War II in Sawahlunto is the main tourism potential that is stored. With historical tourism potential, foreign tourists are the target of tourists who are expected to visit Sawahlunto. In order for a historical tourism potential strategy to be implemented, it is necessary to meet the minimum criteria of the tourism component. To meet the service standards of all 4A tourism components, it is necessary to improve the management of 4A tourism components including Attraction, Accessibility, Ancillary, and Amenity.

The development of coastal region in West Borneo have basic problem, that is: first, many household are still poor. The second, there is deterioration of environmental quality. This conceptual study is intended to describe some problems of coastal region development and also try to formulate alternative strategy which can be done. Although its natural resources is very rich which is indicated by slope slightly of coastal and type of land is enough fertile, but some classical problems still occur, that is: a) still many communities are isolated, and b) social structure of community indicated to social polarization (two class community). Based on these features, so that some development strategy can be formulated, that is: (1) for isolated rural communities, the development strategy which can be done, is combine the participative and welfare strategy, and (2) for coastal rural, is suggested to do comprehensive strategy which is combine three development strategy, that is growth, welfare, and participative strategy. To increase income of fisherman needs to diversification source of income, not only on fisheries and agriculture but also non farm sector. Cilacap is one of the districts in Central Java that has tourism potential with various tourism destination. One of them is Waduk Kubangkangkung. This Waduk Kubangkangkung is a tourism destination that offers beautiful natural tourism and also attractive tourism attraction. The purpose of this study was to determine the role of the local community in Waduk Kubangkangkung development, knowing the manager‘s efforts in developing Waduk Kubangkangkung as a sustainable tourism destination, and finding the development strategy of Waduk Kubangkangkung to attract tourists . While the method used in this research is descriptive qualitative method and SWOT analysis. The results of this study are the need for collaboration between managers and other stakeholders towards Waduk Kubangkangkung, improve promotion and also facilities that needed by tourists. Tourism development can be seen from two strategic development approaches, one of them is the aspect of market driven. This research is aimed 1) To identify the factors that influence the tourists’ satisfaction who have visited the Kuta Beach Lombok; 2) To analyze the relationship between tourists’ importance level and performance of tourism destination elements of Kuta Beach Lombok; 3) To determine the development priority based on tourists’ satisfaction on the performance of tourism destination elements of Kuta Beach Lombok. This research is based on quantitative method that are factor analysis and Important Performance Analysis. Sample determination in this research used purposive sampling. The number of sampel for factor analysis is 165 and 30 samples for Important Performance analysis of foreign tourists’ who have visited Kuta Beach Lombok. Data in this research were gathered by questionnaire. Factor analysis showed eight factors that affected the tourists’ satisfaction who have visited Kuta Beach Lombok that are accomodation, hospitality, transportation, public facilities, infrastructure, tourism facility, safety and price. Importance Performance analysis showed the suitability level of importance and performance of tourism destination elements of Kuta Beach Lombok have satisfied the foreign tourists. The development strategy is increasing the bad performance of tourism destination elements in quandran I and maintaining the good performance of tourism destination elements in quandran II based on the result of caretesian quandrant. Samalona Island is one of the tourist destinations in Makassar. Therefore it needs an effective strategy for the tourism development by empowering local communities.The research aims were identifying and analyzing potency and tourist attraction, community participation and formulate development strategies.This research applied theory of tourism area life cycle, theory of planning and theory of participation. The data were collected by documentation studies, observation and in–depth interviews.Data were analyzed by descriptive qualitative method and matrix SWOT.The results suggested that Samalona Island is very feasible to be developing as a community-based tourism destination with the natural and socio-cultural potencies.The development of those obstacles are by applied strategies are as follows; strategy of strength–opportunity (S–O) with development strategy of tourism destination and development strategy of tourism attraction, strategy of strength–threat (S–T) with improvement strategy of environmental quality, development strategy of sustainable tourism, strategy of weakness–opportunity (W–O) with promotion strategy of tourism destination, whereas strategy of weakness–threat (W–T) with development strategy of human resources and development strategy of institutional and management of destination.

The number of tourists visiting Semarang City is increasing significantly year by year. However, this increase is not accompanied by an improvement in the quantity and the quality of tourist destinations in Semarang. Banjir Kanal Barat area is one of the potential tourist destinations in Semarang, but so far the existing facilities in this area are very limited. In addition, there is no any tourism activities which can be done even. Moreover, this area tends to be very unattractive. This study aims to analyze the development strategy of Banjir Kanal Barat (BKB/western canal) as an interesting tourism destination by analyzing internal and external factors. The data were analyzed descriptively qualitative to determine BKB's development strategy through SWOT analysis (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats). The results of this study formulated 10 (ten) alternative strategies for the development of Banjir Kanal Barat as a tourism destination area. The three best alternative choices are: (1) creating tourist facilities which can be enjoyed by the community, (2) developing special water attractions, (3) inviting investors and cooperating with various parties.

The purpose of this research is to determine the extent of community involvement at the village of Bukit Telago and how the strategy of developing tourism at the village of Bukit Telago. Descriptive qualitative is the methodology used in this study. With 30 samples consisting of officials, community and local entrepreneurs, the method of sampling is use purposive sampling and random sampling methods. The results are that community involvement at Bukit Telago tourism was only in communities around the village and  the development strategy used involves three pillars namely village, community and local businessmen who are mutually integrated.


The culinary potential of Nyambu Village cannot be seen if tourists visit and travel alone in Nyambu Village to enjoy local food. After tourists take the DWE tour package in Nyambu Village, local food is served by the Ecological Tourism Village (DWE) in Nyambu Village for guests visiting DWE in Nyambu village. The purpose of this study is to determine the development strategy and implications of developing local culinary potential in supporting the Ecological Tourism Village (DWE) in Nyambu Kediri Village, Tabanan. This study used descriptive qualitative method. The data was collected by means of observation techniques, in-depth interview techniques, and document study. The collected data were analyzed using SWOT analysis techniques, verified (data display), and concluded in narration, tables, photos, and charts. The theory used is Community Based Tourism (CBT) and the Theory of Tourist Attraction. The strategy for developing local culinary potential in supporting DWE in Nyambu Kediri Village, Tabanan is determined through a SWOT analysis and a SWOT analysis matrix, as follows: SO (StrengthOpportunity) strategy, namely a strategy to develop local culinary potential and a tourism village development strategy; WO (WeaknessesOpportunity) strategy, namely the strategy for the formation of local culinary management groups / organizations and CBT development strategies; ST (Strength-Threats) Strategy, namely a strategy to increase cooperation in the culinary field and a strategy to increase promotion; WT (Weaknesses-Threats) strategy, which is a strategy to increase stakeholder support for the formation of local culinary groups. The implications of developing culinary potential for local culinary processors, DWE and the people of Nyambu Village are enormous. The greater the support from the stakeholders, the greater the local culinary potential in Nyambu Village, and vice versa.
