This study aimed at investigating whether or not there was any significant effect on students’ listening competency who were taught by dictogloss strategy and those who were taught by conventional strategy. The population of this study was the tenth grade students in SMA N 1 Sukasada. Two classes were taken as samples in this study using cluster random sampling technique. They were assigned as experimental group and control group by lottery. To obtain the required data, the two groups were given different treatments. The experimental group was taught by using dictogloss strategy, meanwhile the control group was taught by using conventional strategy (cloze listening strategy). To collect the data the instruments used in this study were the teaching scenario and post-test in the form of listening test. The obtained data were then analyzed descriptively and inferentially. The result of inferential statistics showed that the t-observed exceeded the t-critical value. Thus, the null hypothesis was rejected, which means there was significant effect on students’ listening competency who were taught by dictogloss strategy and those who were taught by conventional strategy.

This experimental study explored the effect of the 4WsHs active learning model on learning engagement in mathematics classes. The research design used for conducting this study was true experimental research design (pre-test post-test equivalent group design). A sample comprising 190 students selected from two public sector schools was divided into experimental and control groups using a matched random sampling technique. The newly developed active learning model was used as treatment for an experimental group while the same contents of mathematics were taught to the control group using a traditional method. After practice of three months, learning engagement of both groups was measured using a classroom observation checklist. The analyzed data revealed a significant superiority of students belonging to the experimental group over their counterparts in learning engagement. Hence, the newly developed active learning model proved to be effective for developing learning engagement among students.

This study is about the effect of metacognitive learning strategy toward students’ achievement in listening comprehension an experimental study at the second-year students of MTs.AL-MADANIYAH Jempong Mataram in the academic year 2016-2017. The purpose of the study is to know whether there is an effect of metacognitive learning strategy or not toward students’ achievement in listening comprehension. The research method was quasi-experimental research with nonequivalent control group design. The population of the research was all of the second year Students of MTs.AL-MADANIYAH Jempong Mataram, conducted of two classes as a sample; Experimental group II A and Control group II B. II A was taught by using Metacognitive Learning Strategy while II B was taught without using Metacognitive Learning Strategy. The researcher gave the Listening test to gather the data. The formula that used to analyze the data was t-test. It is supposed to know the significant difference between students’ score in the experimental group and control group. Based on the computation of the t-test formula, it was found that the mean score of the experimental group was 17,6 and the mean score of the control group was 9,2. After analyzing the data, it was found that t-test was 5,626. The degree of freedom (df) was (Nx+Ny-2) = (25+25-2) =48. The degree of freedom from 38 students as the sample. The researcher got a score for confident level 0.5 or 95% and score 2.000, for confident level 0.1 or 99% is 2.660. It means that t-test was higher than t-table. After the data had been obtained; it was found that metacognitive learning strategy has a positive effect on teaching listening. It showed by the significant value of t-test >t-table. It means that Ha (alternative hypotheses) was accepted because t-test was higher than t-table. Based on the explanation, the researcher concludes that the effect of metacognitive learning strategy toward students achievement in listening comprehension at the second year students of MTs.AL- MADANIYAH Jempong Mataram has a positive effect.

This study aimed at investigating the effectiveness of the use of the systemic approach to improve students’ understanding on adjectives materials related to the use, usage, synonym, antonym, spelling, pronunciation, collocation, meaning, and order. This research employed a quasi-experimental design. The populations were the third-semester students of Muhammadiyah University of Makassar in academic year 2017/2018. The sample consisted of 40 students chosen from two classes by using purposive sampling technique then were divided into two groups, namely experimental and control group. The difference between experimental and control class was based on the teaching technique used during the treatment. While the experimental class was taught by using systemic approach, control class was taught by using the conventional method. The instruments of this research were adjective tests. The data was analyzed by using statistical analysis on SPSS for Windows 20.0 program. As per data, experimental group experienced improvement on their understanding on adjectives in terms of use, usage, meaning, spelling, pronunciation, synonym, antonym, collocation, and order indicated by the post-test mean score (77.1) which was significantly higher than that of the control class (59.7) and the gain of experimental group (31.2) which was higher than control group (17.4). Another supporting indicator is the t-test value which was higher than the t-table value (4.022 > 1.75). Furthermore, the researcher found that the element of adjective which experienced most significant increase on its mastery happened on the usage, while the lowest one was the collocation. The result of this research indicated that there was significant improvement between experimental and control class. It means that systemic approach that was applied in experimental group can improve the students’ mastery on adjectives material. Thus it was concluded that the systemic approach was effective to improve students’ on adjectives.
