This article extends the recent empirical work on the perceptions and role of bureaucrats and politicians in policymaking. The question of the relationship between politicians and bureaucrats and the role of each in policymaking is especially important in the case of Japan, because the prevalent models of Japanese politics and policymaking are those of the “bureaucracy dominant” or of a closely interwoven “ruling triad” of bureaucracy, big business, and the governing Liberal Democratic Party.Data are from a systematic survey of 251 higher civil servants and 101 members of the government and opposition parties in the House of Representatives, supplemented by data from other surveys and, wherever possible, compared to equivalent data from western democracies. The results indicate that Japanese politicians and bureaucrats resemble Western European elites both in social background and in the fact that although the roles of politician and bureaucrat are converging, there are still differences in their contributions to the policymaking process. However, politicians influence policymaking more than most models of Japanese politics have posited, and even government and opposition politicians share some consensus about the most important policy issues facing Japan. A factor analysis demonstrated that higher civil servants' orientations toward their roles vary significantly with their positions in the administrative hierarchy. The 27-year incumbency of the LDP as ruling party has been particularly important in determining the Japanese variant of the relationship between politicians and bureaucrats. We suggest that the Japanese case shows that the bureaucracy's increasing role in policymaking is universal; however, in late-modernizing political systems like Japan's, where the bureaucracy has always been a dominant actor, the growing power of politicians in postwar politics has been the most significant actor in bringing about more convergence in the two elites. Our data on this trend argue for a more complicated and pluralistic view of Japanese policymaking than that provided by either the bureaucracy-dominant or the ruling-triad model.

The Covid-19 pandemic is a global problem that has disrupted and delayed several national and international sports competitions. Athletes face the direct psychological consequences of Covid-19 such as cancellation of competitions, loss of support, lack of training, loss of income, excessive vigilance and anxiety. Therefore, this study aims to examine the relationship between resilience, mental toughness, and intrinsic motivation in national competitive athletes in Central Java, Indonesia during the pandemic. A total of 225 athletes from 23 sports who have participated in various nationally standardized competitions were involved in this study. The results showed that resilience was positively related to mental toughness (r = 0.616) and also to intrinsic motivation (r = 0.466). Mental toughness and intrinsic motivation, significantly predict resilience (R2 = 0.393). The findings of this study contribute that developing a mental toughness mindset and strengthening athletes' intrinsic motivation can represent intervention targets for resilient adaptation programs in the face of an uncertain pandemic situation.

Caries are one of the serious health problems in school-age children especially elementary school. Dental caries are one of which is influenced by the behavior of people in maintaining dental and oral health. Public behavior of dental health, one of which is influenced by a person's motivation in the habit of brushing teeth. The aim of the study was to analyse intrinsic and extrinsic motivational relationships in brushing teeth against the index debris score and tooth brushing skills at the students of SDN Sendangmulyo 02, Semarang in 2019. The types of research used are analytical surveys using questionnaires with cross sectional research plans. The samples in this study amounted to 53 samples and used purposive sampling techniques. Data analysis is conducted with the analysis of univariate and bivariate, test the relationship using the test of Spearman rank. Statistical test results showed there was a link between intrinsic motivation and extrinsic students in tooth brushing against index debris scores and tooth brushing skills, where intrinsic motivational variable statistical test results show the value of ρ-value = 0.489 (ρ-value > 0.05) and extrinsic motivation indicating the value of ρ-value = 0.095 (ρ-value > 0.05). Conclusion: There is no relationship between intrinsic motivation and extrinsic motivation to the index debris score in the students of SDN Sendangmulyo 02, Semarang City Central Java.

This paper aims to provide a comprehensive literature review by presenting prominent theories addressing the role of intrinsic and extrinsic motivation in enhancing employees’ creativity. It then highlights the research questions intended to be investigated and finally presents the context of proposed empirical research. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the role of employee engagement with their work as a mediating factor in the relationship between utilisation of a human resource information system (HRIS) and employee performance in five-star hotels in Jordan. A conceptual framework based on social exchange theory and content analysis of similar previous studies was developed. A quantitative approach and simple random sampling were used to obtain data via questionnaires completed by 221 human resources (HR) employees working at 21 five-star hotels in Jordan. The response rate was 71%. Structural equation modelling (SEM) was used to analyse and verify the study variables. The findings revealed that use of a HRIS had a significant positive influence on both employee performance and work engagement, while the latter acted as a partial mediator between HRIS utilisation and employee performance.

<p>This study investigated the mediation role of intrinsic and extrinsic motivation in the relationship between creative educational environment and metacognitive self-regulation. Participants were 300 girls, selected randomly from the girl hostel in university of Tehran. Participants completed Akoal’s creative educational environment questionnaire, AMS academic motivation questionnaire and self-regulated learning strategies questionnaire MSLQ. To examine reliability of measures, Cronbach alpha coefficient and to determine validity factor analysis were used. The path diagram of hypothetical model was tested. Findings revealed the relationship between the models variables. So, teachers who want their students have a high intrinsic motivation in addition to create a conditions for free choice, should be confide the students, support ideas and give time to the idea, consider duties that are challengeable, teach debate, conflict and risk to their students and also with regard to the vitality, joy, dynamism and humor, create education environment for the development of their creativity.
