<p>Writing this thesis aims to find and to anlysis Indonesia tobacco export and import facing global crisis.Based on Indonesia export and impor in 2000-2009. Variabel in this thesis is Indonesia tobacco.Variabel in this thesis in 2000-2009. The method in this thesis is market consentration (KP) Revealed Comparative Advantage (RCA) and Trade Specialization Ratio (TSR). The aim of this study was to review the trend of production and export of jute as well as comparative advantages of jute export of Bangladesh, China and India. In the case of production, India is the leading country which is followed by Bangladesh, China, Nepal, Zimbabwe, Uzbekistan, Egypt and others. However, Bangladesh plays the supreme role over other countries in the world for exporting jute. Jute export fluctuated erratically over the past four decades in these three most jute exporting countries. The Revealed Comparative Advantage (RCA) has been enumerated for comparing the jute export advantages in the global market. Bangladesh always enjoys greater comparative advantages than China and India although the revealed comparative advantages are less in recent years than those were one decade ago. But it can’t catch the high-value market because exporters have mainly focused on raw jute while jute goods have high potentiality. The recommended issues urge to enhance the productivity of jute cultivation, inaugurate more diversified products, and explore new markets for exports. Res. Agric., Livest. Based on coffee export data 2008-2017, the index value of Indonesia's coffee trade specialization is positive (0-1). The average value of ISPs of Indonesian coffee for 10 years is 0.91, meaning that Indonesia tends to be a coffee exporter country. Indonesian coffee has competitiveness  in the international market with an acceleration ratio value between 10.66 in 2012 to 53.76 in 2008. The always positive acceleration ratio (AR) value shows that Indonesian coffee is able to win the world coffee market. Indonesian coffee also has a comparative advantage with the value of Revealed Comparative Advantages (RCA) which is always positive. The highest RCA value of Indonesian coffee occurred in 2008 at 5.26 and the lowest RCA value in 2011 was 2.60, while the average RCA value of Indonesia was 3.93.

The paper investigates comparative advantages and competitiveness of Slovak and the EU 27 agri-food trade in markets of two countries: Russia and Ukraine. Our aim is to see the dynamics of the agri-food trade for the analyzed countries especially in the post-accession period. Applying a trade dataset from the EUROSTAT and based on the approach applied by Bojnec and Fertő (2006), we describe the pattern of agri-food trade in Slovakia and the EU using the Balassa index. The extent of trade specialization exhibits a declining trend in the country. It has lost comparative advantage for a number of product groups over time. The indices of specialization have tended to converge. For the particular product groups, the indices display a greater variation. They are stable for the product groups with comparative disadvantage, but the product groups with strong comparative advantage show a significant variation. There are also shown different tendencies for different markets i.e. the trade patterns between the Slovak Republic and the EU 27 with Russia and Ukraine.

Background: Using a concept of revealed and latent comparative advantage, this article identifies relatively productive industries and industries with great potential in the slow-growing economy of Senegal. The identification of such industries allows for economic structure adjustment resulting in a higher gross domestic product (GDP) growth rate.Aim: The aim of the study is to identify Senegalese long-term revealed comparative advantages and to estimate Senegalese latent comparative advantages. The analysis is focused solely on manufacturing industries because industrialisation serves as an engine of growth in developing countries.Setting: The analysis is carried out on endowment structure and international trade data (1995–2015) of Senegal and appropriate comparator economies (Tanzania, Cambodia, Lao, Vietnam and Cape Verde).Methods: To identify revealed comparative advantages, we calculate the normalised revealed comparative advantage index. To estimate latent comparative advantages, we employ a growth identification and facilitation framework. The methodology is slightly modified because the estimation is based on long-term revealed comparative advantages comparisons (rather than export shares comparisons).Results: We argue that the relatively productive manufacturing industries (with revealed comparative advantage) include chemicals and manufactured goods classified chiefly by various materials. Furthermore, Senegal may have unexploited potential (i.e. latent comparative advantage) in footwear and particularly in apparel production.Conclusion: In order to accelerate GDP growth rate, Senegal should focus on developing the above mentioned industries to align its economic structure with the comparative advantages and also to promote industrialisation.

The aim of the study was to establish the competitive position of Poland on the market of apple juice concentrate in the years 2004–20015 and compare it with the position of competitors. The research used the trade balance, share in the word exports, revealed comparative advantage index (RCA) and revealed comparative export advantage index (XRCA). In the analyzed period Poland was the second biggest exporter of apple juice concentrate in the world, preceded only by China. The applied measures showed that export from Poland was competitive. The trade balance of apple juice concentrate from Poland increased in the years 2004–2015. In the analyzed period Poland’s share in international export increased as well. The revealed comparative export advantage index showed that in years 2004–2015 Poland had an average and strong comparative advantage in apple juice concentrate exports, while China’s comparative advantage was strong. The strongest comparative advantage in years 2013–2015 was obtained by Moldova and Ukraine.

Non-wood forest products (NWFPs) contribute economically to all countries in the world and they are an important source of income, especially for people living in or near the forest. They are also used in many sectors such as medicine, chemistry and paint industry. In this respect, the importance of NWFPs is increasing day by day. In this research, the comparative advantage of NWFPs of Turkey was analyzed. It was used revealed comparative advantage (RCA), relative trade advantage (RTA), and revealed competitiveness (RC) in the analysis of research. The research is based on secondary data and was used for 2008-2019 period. As a result, Turkey has a strong competitiveness in NWFPs between years 2008 and 2019. When non-wood forest products are examined at subgroup level, Turkey has a comparative advantage in 8 product groups. Key words: NWFPs, comparative advantage, trade; exports

In the last decades Brazil has become a global agri-food powerhouse. The article interrogates the shape and its stability of revealed comparative advantages in 46 of its agri-food products for the period 1995-2017. The results support the argument that the Brazil's agri-food trade was formed by comparative advantages of specific agri-food sectors. The results show that the external shape of agri-food specialization has strengthened, first since early 2000s and second when the trade shifted more towards China. The pattern was stable according revealed comparative (dis)advantage of particular products, more changes occurred in each product's score and in ranking of products. Products without initial comparative advantage seem to remain uncompetitive whilst the products with strong initial comparative advantage continue to be competitive. The persistence in distribution has increased. This suggests, the shape of Brazil's revealed comparative advantage in agri-food trade has evolved towards its finite structure (ceteris paribus).

Tingkat pertumbuhan produksi kopi dunia cenderung menurun dibandingkan dengan tingkat pertumbuhan konsumsi kopi dunia. Hal ini disebabkan oleh menurunnya produksi kopi di negara-negara penghasil utama. Hal ini berdampak pada jumlah kopi yang diekspor untuk pemenuhan kebutuhan kopi dunia. Penelitian ini menganalisis tingkat persaingan antar negara produsen utama dalam lima periode waktu dengan menggunakan analisis Revealed Comparative Advantage (RCA) dan Dynamic Revealed Comparative Advantage (DRCA). Hasil menunjukkan bahwa pada periode 2001-2003, rata-rata pertumbuhan daya saing antar negara paling tinggi dibanding periode lainnya. Hal ini dikarenakan adanya peningkatan ekspor yang cukup signifikan dari negara Honduras yang berdampak pada nilai RCA. Dalam periode 2012-2015, Colombia merupakan negara yang memiliki tingkat pertumbuhan daya saing paling tinggi karena peningkatan jumlah ekspor yang cukup signifikan. Perubahan daya saing dapat mempengaruhi perubahan posisi pasar ekspor suatu negara. Dalam periode 2012-2015, terdapat penurunan pangsa pasar yang terjadi di Vietnam, Ethiopia, India, Honduras, Guatemala dan Peru sedangkan peningkatan pangsa pasar terjadi di Brazil, Colombia, Indonesia, dan Uganda. Posisi Indonesia di pasar kopi dunia tahun 2015 yaitu failing stars dimana pangsa kopi Indonesia lebih tinggi dari pangsa kopi dunia. Peningkatan daya saing akan meningkatkan pangsa pasar suatu negara yang didukung oleh peningkatan teknologi, kualitas dan produktivitas kopi. The rate of world coffee production growth tends to decrease compared to the growth rate of world coffee consumption. This is due to the decline of coffee production in some major producing countries. This has an impact on the quantity of exported coffee to meet the demand of world's coffee. This paper analyzed the level of competition among major producing countries in five periods of time using the analysis of RCA and DRCA. The results showed that during the period 2001-2003,the average growth of competitiveness among countries was found to be the highest compared to other periods. This was due to a significant increase in export from Honduras which affected the value of RCA. During the period 2012-2015, Colombia became a country that achieved the highest growth rate of competitiveness due to the significant increase in the number of export. Change in competitiveness can affect the export market position of a country. During the period 2012-2015, the decline in market shared occurred in Vietnam, Ethiopia, India, Honduras, Guatemala, and Peru, while the increasing market share occurred in Brazil, Colombia, Indonesia, and Uganda. Indonesia’s position in the world coffee in 2015 was at failing stars in which the coffee share in that country was higher than in the world market. Increased competitiveness will enhance the market share of a country that is supported by improvement of the technology, quality and productivity of coffee.
