Science and technology play an important role in transforming growth models, improving productivity, quality, efficiency and competitiveness of the economy. This is a matter of vital significance to the existence and development of the country, and is an urgent requirement of the current industrialization, modernization and national integration in Vietnam. During 35 years of industrialization, modernization and international integration (1986 – 2021), science and technology in Vietnam have made important progress in all aspects, making a practical contribution to economic development - society, improve the quality of people’s life and consolidate national defense and security. However, science and technology in Vietnam today still has many shortcomings such as: The level of science and technology of social production remains low and backward compared to other countries in the region; low labor productivity; domestic businesses are still less interested in investing in research and development; investment in science and technology activities is low, structure is not suitable, efficiency is low; the contingent of science and technology staff lacks quantity, is weak in quality, and the structure is not suitable. These shortcomings have been affecting the demand for reform of an economic growth model to meet the requirements of rapid and sustainable development. In the coming time, to overcome the above problems, Vietnam needs to deploy a synchronous system of solutions.

This paper presents some of the important lindings on the atmopsheric fine FP (particle with aerodynamic diameter, da 2.5um) and coarse particles, CP (2.5 um da 10 um) concentrations collected from July 1988 to December 1990 using a dichotomous sampler sited at the Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur. Results showed that the mean FP and CP particle concentration was 35.4 and 14.2 μg/m3, respectively, with 40% of the daily total particle, TP(i.e TP = FP + CP) concentration samples exceeded the 50 μg/m3 annual mean guideline limit. On average, the FP constitutes 71% of the TP concentration measured at the site. Elevated particle concentrations were observed to be consistent with the frequency of calm conditions and wind direction which uggests that both there the important factors influencing the quality of air in the area. There are situations in the real estate market in which a large number of properties have to be valued at the same time. In such cases it is advisable to use mass valuation methods. These methods involve estimating the value of a property on the basis of the values of the attributes defining it. The aim of the paper is to calibrate the influence of attributes on unit values of properties in mass appraisal in order to minimise the valuation error. The research was conducted for 318 residential properties located in Szczecin. The Szczecin Algorithm of Real Estate Mass Appraisal was used along with the econometric, statistical and expert approaches. The econometric approach is based on the ridge regression model, the statistical approach on the partial Kendall T correlation coefficients, and the expert approach on the AHP method. The quadratic programming was co-employed with the statistical and expert approaches in order to minimise the mean square error (MSE) of the valuations. The econometric and statistical approaches with the minimisation of the MSE generated best results. The least accurate results were obtained by means of the statistical and expert approaches without the minimisation of the MSE. However, even though the optimisation of the MSE improves the quality of valuations, it also narrows down their volatility, which might make the valuation of properties from the outside of a given database more problematic.

This study examines the vocabulary knowledge of 120 Saudi tertiary students in order to scrutinise their ability to communicate in English. A vocabulary test constructed by Nation and Beglar (2007) was utilised in the study. The findings revealed that the mean vocabulary size of Saudi EFL tertiary students was roughly 3000 words. Nevertheless, most of the participants achieved low scores in the vocabulary low frequency levels. Some participants were unable to answer any item correctly in these low and mid frequency levels. This suggests that while those students might be able to communicate at a basic level, dealing with reading simplified texts and comprehending listening materials, they may struggle with reading authentic texts, producing a high quality of writing and watching English TV programmes and films.

Abstract Background and Aims Hemiplegic shoulder pain (HSP) is a very common complaint among patients affected with cerebrovascular accident (CVA). This type of pathology is related with a neuropathic type of pain. Ultrasound-guided percutaneous neuromodulation (US-guided PNM) is a physical therapy technique consisting of low-frequency electric stimulation of peripheral nerves via an acupuncture needle under ultrasound guidance. Because of the relationship between the suprascapular and axillary nerves with the shoulder joint, these represent the target structure for US-guided PNM. This study aimed to observe the effects of the application of US-guided PNM in HSP and to evaluate the possible changes in variables such as pain, functionality and quality of life of patients. Material and Methods This study was a case series. Patients with HSP were selected between the months of April and June 2018 in the Hospital of Denia. Seven patients were interviewed, after which the experimental group was reduced to five participants. These patients received weekly PNM treatment during three weeks. The parameters used were: frequency (10Hz), pulse width (250 μs), intensity (pain threshold) and time (10 min). The main clinical variables examined were pain, measured using the VAS scale, functionality, via the SPADI scale and physical and mental components of quality of life using the SF12 scale. Results The results of the VAS scale, expressed as the mean (SD) was 7.2 (1.3) pre-intervention; 3.6 (0.89) post-intervention week 3; and 4 (1.23) post intervention week 5. The results revealed significant changes in the VAS scale which continued until week 5 (p < 0.05). The mean obtained in the SPADI scale, expressed as the mean (SD) was 72.4 (1.3) pre-intervention, 55.7 (19.72) post-intervention in week 3 and 59.8 (20.66) post intervention week 5. The changes observed between the pre-intervention sample and the measurements obtained in week 3 and 5 were significant (p < 0.05). Conclusions The US-guided PNM technique was effective in the sample under study for improvement of the patient's sensation of pain. The US-guided PNM technique improves functionality of HSP, as well as the emotional status of patients.

The action research in English as a Foreign Language (EFL) classroomaims to enhance development of quality teaching and learning processcontributing not only to the quality of EFL teachers in handling the processof teaching learning but also to the quality of the students in learningEnglish. This study aims at analyzing the phenomenon of how pre serviceteachers carry out action research as their final Project. It is conducted inEnglish Education Department, one of universities in Indonesia. Three ofthe students papers were selected randomly to analyze. Review ofdocuments and questionnaires were employed as data collection in thisstudy. Having gathered the data, they were holistically analyzed as a casestudy occurring in English Education Department. The results indicatedthere were several cases happened. First, the pre service teachers did notcomprehend holistically the notion of action research. Second, backgroundof the study was not elaborated completely showing evidences of thestudy. Third, it is also unclear how all problem indicators were improvedrationally using particular techniques or method. Fourth, they did not alsocomprehensively collect and analyze the data. The last, reporting theresearch project focused only on the quantitative data rather thanqualitative one. Therefore, both researchers and supervisors are necessaryto possess the whole understanding toward the type of the researchchosen. Enriching literature reviews will enhance their literacy in order toachieve a better implementation in conducting action research. Keywords: action research, case study, pre-service teacher
