Around 5% of the population of the world is affected with the disease called diabetes mellitus. The main medication of the diabetes is the insulin; the active form is the insulin monomer, which is an instable molecule, because the long storage time, or the high temperature, can cause the monomer insulin to adapt an alternative fold, rich in β-sheets, which is pharmaceutically inactive. The aim of this study is to form different insulin complexes with all the cyclodextrin used for pharmaceutical excipients (native cyclodextrin, methyl, hydroxyethyl, hydroxypropyl and sulfobutylether substituted β-cyclodextrin), in silico condition, with the AutoDock molecular modeling program, to determine the best type of cyclodextrin or cyclodextrin derivate to form a complex with an insulin monomer, to predict the molar ratio, the conformation of the complex, and the intermolecular hydrogen bonds formed between the cyclodextrin and the insulin. From the results calculated by the AutoDock program it can be predicted that insulin can make a stable complex with 5–7 molecules of hydroxypropyl-β-cyclodextrin or sulfobutylether-β-cyclodextrin, and by forming a complex potentially can prevent or delay the amyloid fibrillation of the insulin and increase the stability of the molecule.

Abstract The flood disaster that occurred in Pekalongan district in February 2021 was caused by the high intensity of rain for one week with rainfall >50 mm/day and the ebb and flow of sea water due to tides reaching 0.9-1.1 meters. Other problems due to flooding in Pekalongan district are change in land use, land subsidence, waste, erosion-sedimentation, as well as operation and maintenance factors. Losses due to floods cause material and building losses and traffic conditions are paralyzed. The method used in this research is primary and secondary data collection, descriptive qualitative data processing by describing understanding, research approach with field observations. Flood handling that has been carried out is by adding an emergency sliding door to the drainage, procuring a mobile water pump with a capacity of 250 liters/second, a CCSP (Corrugated Concrete Sheet Pile) embankment, rehabilitation of the Bremi River floodgate, construction of a Mrican pump house with a capacity of 8×2 m3/second, and construction of a 2,200 meter long Silempeng earthen embankment. The emergency handling that was carried out during the floods of February 2021 was the opening of the Long Storage Silempeng-Sengkarang and the preparation of sandbags and large sacks for emergency handling.

Abstract Although in 2019 the local government of Tegal city Indonesia had constructed a retention basin at drainage system of Siwatu, Tegal Barat, Tegal city with a catchment area of 226 ha, the areas around the system still experienced flood and inundation. This study belonged to a descriptive qualitative research aimed to evaluate the performances of Siwatu drainage system and Tegalsari retention basin. Data of the study included field data and technical data from institutions. Based on the 15-year rainfall data (2014 – 2018) from Pemali - Comal PSDA Office, Central Java Province, Indonesia, the statistical parameters of Cs: 0.0027, Ck: 1.904, Sd: 15.91, Cv: 0.144 were obtained and so Gumbel method distribution was applied in the study, the return period rainfall of 10 years was 138 mm, the flood discharge for Qr.10 years was 9.63 m3/sec., the addition of long storage was 8×2,50×500 m, and the combination of pump addition was of 1 m3/sec. with the long storage of 8×2.00×500 m. By implementing one of the alternative choices, either flood or inundation could be resolved.

There is an obvious colloid state in sauce-flavor liquor due to its unique brewing process and long storage time, which is an important quality feature of sauce-flavor. Aiming at the problems of time, cost, and the strong professionalism of the traditional quality identification method, we proposed a method to identify the quality of sauce-flavored liquor based on the Tyndall phenomenon. The influence of different wavelengths of light on the light scattering in liquor was explored, and it was concluded that the ultraviolet and blue light bands have a certain efficiency in the identification of liquor. Additionally, we analyzed the relationship between the particle size uniformity of liquor colloids and liquor quality according to the Tyndall phenomenon. We found that higher quality liquor has a brighter and lighter Tyndall path and a smaller light flooding angle due to the uniformity of the particles in it. This method can be used to achieve qualitative identification and is suitable for the identification of sauce-flavored liquor.

Abstract In this paper, four novel kinds of triazine-trione based tri-imidazole derivatives (IM-TT, 2MI-TT, 2EI-TT and EMI-TT) were synthesized through the addition reaction between triglycidyl isocyanurate (TGIC) and imidazole (IM), 2-methylimidazole (2MI), 2-ethylimidazole (2EI) and 2-ethyl-4-methylimidazole (EMI), respectively. The triazine-trione based tri-imidazole derivatives were blended with epoxy resin and the reactivity, thermal latency and thermal property were investigated. The results on curing behaviors indicated that the curing exothermic peaks of the blends with triazine-trione based tri-imidazole derivatives shifted to higher temperatures compared with those with commercial imidazoles. The curing exothermic peak temperatures (Tps) of the synthesized tri-imidazole derivatives were increased by 23–32 ℃ compared with the unmodified imidazoles. In addition, Rheological behavior results indicated that the EP blends with tri-imidazole derivatives also exhibited excellent storage stability which was as long as 38 days under room temperature. Last but not the least, the EP blends with triazine-trione based tri-imidazole derivatives also exhibited high glass transition temperatures due to introducing of triazine-trione structures with high crosslinking density. The glass transition temperatures (Tgs) of the prepared thermosets ranged from 128 to 152 ℃. The triazine-trione based tri-imidazole derivatives provide a way to prepare latency epoxy resin with high high glass transition temperature and long storage stability. Article Highlights Four novel kinds of triazine-trione based tri-imidazole derivatives were synthesized. The EP cured with the tri-imidazole derivatives displayed great thermostability. The EP cured with the tri-imidazole derivatives exhibited long storage stability.

Abstract Effects of storage temperature, elevated CO2 and reduced O2 in the package headspace, packaging material, and their interactions on the total content of anthocyanins and degradation of phenolic compounds in ‘Malase Torsh Saveh’ pomegranate were studied during long storage. The results showed that only storage temperature and its duration had significant effects on the degradation of phenolic compounds. The content of anthocyanins was affected by the single effect of storage time and its 3-way interaction effect with the storage temperature and the surrounding gas composition. Higher amounts of both total anthocyanins and browning pigments were recorded at 2 °C. The Browning index (BI) of the pomegranate extracts changed quadratically with the variations in the total anthocyanins content and linearly with the variations in the content of browning compounds. Thermal dipping treatment and its interaction with the storage time significantly affected the BI values of modified atmosphere packaged pomegranates stored at 6 °C.

Garcinia kola usually referred to as "bitter cola" is a tree found in the rainforests. Many studies have revealed the properties of its seeds: antimicrobial, analgesic, anti-inflammatory, hepato-protective, antidiabetic, antioxidant. In the West Region of Cameroon these seeds are mainly used against nausea and vomiting; unfortunately, the generalization or the widening of the use of these seeds encounters some problems: the production is seasonal (June to September), the plant only grows in a small area (the departments of Moungo and Mbam and Inougou), the long storage of the seeds is not possible (they harden quickly and become unfit for consumption). The non-toxicity of these seeds having already been demonstrated by Udenze et al in 2012, in this study we wanted to develop a galenic form that is easy to produce and likely to help better use this resource by circumventing these difficulties. Garcinia kola seeds purchased in the city of Bafia, were cleaned, crushed and dried for 2 days at the temperature of 30°C and finally ground. The powder obtained was used to prepare capsules. The powder, calibrated through a 125 sieve, was homogeneous and had a residual humidity of 4%; its flavonoid content was 28 mg quercetin equivalent per gram. The capsules contained 400 mg of seed powder and titrated 3 mg quercetin equivalent of flavonoids per unit. They have responded favorably to the pharmacotechnical tests recommended by the European Pharmacopoeia 5th edition and appear to be able to allow the use of Garcinia kola seeds everywhere and in any season.

Mentha x piperita L. simplicial  may undergo deterioration during storage, therefore it is very important to determine its shelf life. The determination of shelf life was done using Extend Storage Studies (ESS) method. This study was aimed to determine the shelf life and the effect of storage time on organoleptic simplicia M. x piperita. The sample used was simplicia that has been stored for 0, 15, 22, 30, 32, and 44 mounth in the simplicia storage warehouse with some long storage, and then the samples were subjected for moisture content analysis and organoleptic evaluation. The results showed that the shelf life of M. x piperita simplisia determined using the method of a water content parameter approach was 27 months. After 27 months of storage, although the aroma still can be preserve, there wa a decrease in the taste  and the color of simplisia.  In addition, there was increase in water content.
