Statement of the problem. The article presents an overview of theoretical and experimental studies of personality intellectual features in the adaptation process, and the authors’ views on the influence of personality intellectual features on the success of adaptation. The purpose of the article is to identify intellectual features of university students’ personality, which can largely determine the success of their adaptation to studying at a higher educational institution. Materials and methods. The research methodology is based on the concept of B.G. Ananyev, J. Piaget and other Russian and foreign scientists, according to whom the internal personality features, in particular, intellectual characteristics, mediate its adaptation. The study involved 102 students of the Krasnoyarsk Institute of Railway Transport, both successfully adapted to studying at the higher educational institution, and experiencing difficulties in the process of adaptation. The intellectual features of the students’ personality were diagnosed using the 16Pf Kettell technique. Research results. The study showed that the symptom complex of intellectual features, including factors B, M, N, and Q1 in the factor structure of personality identified by R. Kettell, has differences in students with different levels of adaptation. Thus, it was found that the indicators of factors B and N were significantly higher and the indicators of factors M and Q1 were significantly lower in highly adapted students compared to low-adapted students within the symptom complex of intellectual features (the reliability of differences was determined by the Mann-Whitney U-criterion). Conclusion. Considering the intellectual features of the students’ personality, we relied on the factor structure of R. Kettel personality, according to which the following factors are included in the symptom complex of intellectual features of a person: B (intelligence), M (dreaminess), N (flexibility), Q1 (receptivity to the new). The study showed that the intellectual characteristics of students of different levels of adaptability to studying at a higher educational institution differ from each other by the severity and combination of individual factors included in this symptom complex.

In the experimental studies conducted to date, the connection of the locus of human control with various forms of its behaviour and personal properties has been revealed. At the same time, the question of the peculiarities of self-attitude of university students with different levels of subjective control requires further study. This article presents the results of a comparative analysis of the psychological structure of self-attitude among university students with an internal and external locus of control. As a result of empirical research, it was determined that students with an internal locus of control significantly outperform students with an external locus of control in terms of the degree of expression of such parameters of self-attitude as "Self-confidence", "Reflected self-attitude", "Self-acceptance". The greatest differences between students with different levels of subjective control are found in the degree of expression of such a parameter of self-attitude as “Self-confidence”. It is concluded that students with an internal type of control have a more positive self-attitude than students with an external type of control. It is established that students with an internal locus of control have a greater number of positive correlations between the parameters of self-attitude and the corresponding greater integration of the psychological structure of self-attitude in comparison with students with an external locus of control.

Background: COVID-19 has affected the educational system, particularly students of higher educational institutions. Accurate knowledge about the disease, its transmission, and preventive measures are critical for containing an outbreak. University students, the next generation of professionals, may play an imperative role in propagating key health information to society. Objectives: The study aims to assess the level of knowledge, the attitude of concern, and prevention practices among university students towards COVID-19 prevention. Methods: This descriptive study was conducted at a private higher educational institution in Central Luzon, Holy Angel University. 357 university students were recruited as study participants from the university's different departments using the purposive sampling method, and data were collected using an online self-administered questionnaire. Results: Among the 357 university students who completed the questionnaires, most were females (58.5%). The results show a good level of attitude of concern and good knowledge of clinical manifestations of COVID-19. The students' most frequently stated source of transmission is exposure to coughing and sneezing via droplets. Additionally, wearing face masks was the most reported method of protection against the infection. Conclusion: The study revealed that university students have adequate knowledge, practices, and attitude of concern towards COVID-19. To bridge the gap between current and required knowledge, it is essential to establish further professional educational campaigns to increase university students' awareness of the pandemic.

This study examined the generalizability of the Achievement Goal Questionnaire–Revised (AGQ–R) in a different cultural and ethnic context than other published studies and across different levels of specificity in the academic domain. The study assessed the structural validity and reliability of the questionnaire as administered to 105 Greek University students in both a course-specific context and in a more general academic context. Six plausible alternative models with three- and two-factor structures were compared to the four-factor structure of the questionnaire. In the course-specific context administration, the four-factor structure of the AGQ–R was supported, but a three-factor structure model did not provide a worse fit. None of the remaining models provided a good fit. At the more general academic context, the four-factor structure of the questionnaire did not show adequate fit to the data. The same was true for each one of the six alternative models. The internal consistency reliabilities for the factors depicted in the four- and three-factor structure models were very good, ranging from .90 to .98.

The article touches upon important issues related to measuring the index of the regulatory-adaptive status and adaptive capabilities of students to the educational load in a higher educational institution. Regulatory-adaptive status was determined by the level of students' anxiety. The Spielberg-Khanin technique served as a tool that made it possible to measure the level of situational (reactive) and personal anxiety; measurements of the anxiety level of university students were made at the beginning and at the end of the academic year. According to the results of the study, at the end of the academic year, there was recorded a significant decrease in the regulatory-adaptive abilities of students to the educational load, which contributed to an increase in the level of anxiety, as well as to the redistribution of students in groups according to the level of anxiety: the number of students in the group with a high level of personal anxiety increased, and with moderate level of anxiety - decreased.

This article is devoted to the analysis of the concepts of «methodology» in general, and «methodology in education» in particular. The analysis of the main classical methods in the field of teaching a foreign language such as «natural» and «grammatical-translation», indicate the urgent need for training and application of the student audience to achieve conscious foreign language knowledge in a non-linguistic higher educational institution of general economic profile.
