Biological and production indices are presented for spawning females of triple hybrid between russian sturgeon, siberian sturgeon and amur sturgeon (RS × SS) × AS and other commercial forms of sturgeon grown in cages of the warm-water fish farm in Luchegorsk, Far East of Russia. In conditions of warm-water pools, survival rate of the triple hybrid larvae and juveniles was higher than that of amur sturgeon and russian-siberian hybrid sturgeon. Weight of the triple hybrid specimens at the age of 3 and 4 years was 1.58 kg and 2.36 kg, respectively, that was higher than that of the russian-siberian hybrid sturgeon and close to the values for amur sturgeon. Fish harvest reached 94 kg/m2 of cage, or 134 kg/m2 of cage in sum with the realized fish. Up to 93 % of females matured after using of hormonal stimulation. The first female of the triple hybrid sturgeon matured at the age of 9 years, with its body weight of 13.1 kg. Other females became matured in different age, up to 16 years, but ¾ of them were matured at the age of 10–12 years. The maximum registered weight of the triple hybrid female was 29 kg (age 14 years). Inter-spawning intervals for 97 % of females were 1–2 years. Average annual yield of hard roe obtained from one female at the age of 9–16 years was 2.28 kg, average weight of one egg was 17.6 mg, average fecundity was 132 . 103 eggs/female or 7.4 . 103 eggs/kg, average oosomatic index was 12.8 %. These values of production indices for the triple hybrid females are mainly intermediate between the indices of initial species. In 3–4 spawning seasons, the yield of 5.25 kg of hard roe, on average, was harvested from one female of the triple hybrid, or 30 % of its body weight. The yield from the most productive females was 10.8–11.0 kg of roe, or 55–73 % of their body weight. These values are lower than the yeild from amur sturgeon but similar to the yield value for russian-siberian hybrid sturgeon. Caviar manufactured from the roe of triple hybrid sturgeon is distinguished by high quality. Its females are technologically advanced for the eggs harvesting and have a good survival, about 98 % during long-term exploitation. So, the triple hybrid of russian, siberian and amur sturgeon can be recommended for commercial cultivation in warm-water sturgeon farms with intensive harvesting.

Growing of cherry salmon juveniles under two different temperature regimes at the salmon farms Anivsky and Okhotsky in the fish-rearing cycle of 2016–2017 is analyzed. Data on cherry salmon growing for other fish farms of Sakhalin region collected in 1995–2017 are considered, as well. The periods of fish feeding and dynamics of their growth varied significantly in dependence on temperature conditions. The feeding started in April-May at the cold-water fish farms (Anivsky, Lesnoy, Sokolovsky, Urozhainiy) where the water temperature lowered in winter to 0.2–0.3 о С, but in February at Reidovo fish farm where the water temperature were not lower than 2 о С and in January at the most warm-water Okhotsky fish farm with the temperature never lower than 6.5 о С. In accordance with growing conditions, the growth rate of juveniles was high in winter month at the warm-water fish farms, where the ground water was used for rearing, but increased since May-June at the cold-water fish farms using natural heating of the river water. However, several cases were noted when the fish that accumulated less than 500–700 degree-days released from cold-water fish farms in June-July were larger than those from warm-water fish farms. Thus, cherry salmon is the only species among pacific salmons whose juveniles can be successfully grown at any temperature regime and consequently at any fish farm. This ability is reasoned by earlier spawning (along with pink salmon) and long period of development in rivers. At cold-water fish farms, the best results for cherry salmon growing could be achieved with the eggs planting in late August-September, whereas the time of eggs planting is not significant for warm-water fish farms.

The outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic caused a number of changes in social life around the world. In response to the growing number of infections, some countries have introduced restrictions that may have resulted in the change of the lifestyle. The aim of our study was to investigate the impact of the lockdown on body weight, physical activity and some eating habits of the society. The survey involving 183 people was conducted using a proprietary questionnaire. The mean age of the study participants was 33 ± 11 and mean height 169 ± 8 cm. An average increase in body weight was observed in 49.18% by 0.63 ± 3.7 kg which was the result of a decrease in physical activity and an increase in food consumption. We also observed a decrease in PAL from 1.64 ± 0.15 to 1.58 ± 0.13 and changes in the amount of food and individual groups of products consumption, including alcohol. Among the study participants who did not lose body mass, there was an average weight gain of 2.25 ± 2.5 kg. In conclusion, an increase of weight was shown in about half of the respondents in the study group which was associated with a decrease in physical activity and an increase in the consumption of total food and high energy density products.

1. Myofibrillar adenosine triphosphatase (ATPase) activities were measured for white myotomal muscle of 19 species of fish. 2. The activity was measured at different temperatures and after periods of preincubation at 37°C. 3. The inactivation half-life at 37°C depended on environmental temperature, increasing as the temperature increased. 4. Cold-water fish had higher myofibrillar adenosine triphosphatase activity at low temperatures than had warm-water fish. 5. The significance of these results is discussed.

Results of cherry salmon juveniles rearing at Reidovo fish farm on Iturup Island during two annual cycles of cultivation are analyzed. Different variants of the breeders selection, feeding, preventive treatment, and release were tested. The breeders were caught in the river mouth and near the fish farm. Mass mortality of young fish in the first and second years was avoided by decreasing of their density and other preventive measures. Minced fish was used as a food for them that is less expensive in compare with a combined fodder. The best diet for the second year of rearing was the minced pink salmon with the daily ration of 2 % of the juveniles body weight; it provided a significant decrease of mortality and enhanced their growth. After 2-year rearing, percentage of females, anadromous males, and dwarf males was 42.1, 36.3, and 21.6 %, respectively. Their weights were similar, though a group of fast-growing males was found among the dwarfs. The mass of ovaries varied from 13 to 46 mg in close dependence on females’ body weight (r = 0.81). Before the release, the ovaries of all females contained oocytes of similar size (varied in 2–4 times) at the final stage of previtellogenesis. Number of the oocytes per transverse section varied from 4.7 to 32.3, on average for 5 cuts and their diameter varied from 164.3 to 279.2 mm and did not correlate with the females body weight. The mass of dwarf males’ testes varied from 14 to 488 mg in dependence on their body weight (r = 0.78). The elder oocytes of females would mature in a year, and majority of dwarf males would reach the maturity in autumn of the current year.

Cardamom is known as a plant with millions of benefits and it is known to contain aphrodisiac substances. The role of cardamom as an aphrodisiac need to be studied more deeply from the scientific point of view. The experimental object is a 3-month-old male white mice (<em>Mus musculus albinus</em>) with an average weight of about 30-35 grams. After being acclimatized for approximately 2 weeks, 35 mice were divided into 3 groups based on the dose of cardamom extract. At the end of the experiment, the mice will be sacrificed and then the testes were weighed and cauda epididymis were isolated to collect the sperm. Our findings suggested that the dose of administration has important role in affecting the weight of testes and bodies of mice. However, further studies on sperm profiles and optimal administration doses of cardamom extract are highly recommended.

Background: Pain is the most common reason patients seek medical care. Increased level of monoamines (serotonin and norepinephrine) in synaptic clefts lead to changes in pain threshold and induce antinociception. The study was carried out to evaluate antinociceptive effect of paroxetine in albino rats and to probe into its possible mechanism of action. The study was carried out to evaluate anti-nociceptive effect of paroxetine in albino rats. Methods: Male Albino rats of average weight 150-240gms were used. The drugs used were paroxetine 5mg/Kg, pethidine 5mg/kg (standard drug). Anti-nociceptive effect tested by using thermal method i.e. Tail flick response and Tail warm water immersion method. Results: In this study, Anti-nociceptive effect of respective drugs were measured by using two methods i.e. tail flick test and tail warm water immersion method at 0 min., 30 min., 60 min. and 90min.after administration of drugs. Reaction time started to increase from baseline at 0 min. and peak effect was seen at 60 min. then it started to decrease at 90 min. in almost all the groups except in control group. Conclusions: Paroxetine have significant analgesic effect in acute pain, which may be mediated via central and peripheral mechanisms. Efficacy of Paroxetine is almost equal to that of standard drug pethidine in acute pain management.
