Currently, the age of primiparous women is increasing, but the risk of cancer, which is sometimes found during gestation, is also increasing. This article discusses the problems of diagnosis and treatment of cancer during pregnancy, which occurs under the guise of gestational complications. Two cases of malignant neoplasms first discovered during pregnancy are described. The first observation illustrates cholangiocarcinoma in a 37-year-old multiparous, and the second is a case of colorectal cancer in a 40-year-old primiparous. The timely identification of such women is an important challenge of the outpatient, which in the future can help maintain the quality of life of the mother and child.

It is shown that the theory of social quality is developed as a philosophical paradigm in relation to the modern capitalist modernization of the economy today, accompanied by the loss of the "social component". The indicators of social quality allowing to carry out subjective assessment of quality of life not at the individual level, but at the level of country societies are considered. The article describes the results of the international sociological forum "Social Quality and Social Management", held in Beijing, China, in September 2018. The features of the Russian scientific school of studying the level and quality of life formed in the All-Russia Centre of Living Standards, and allowing to measure the level and quality of life in the unity of its objective and subjective characteristics are outlined. The features of noospheric socialism which is a model of sustainable development of society, allowing to combine the development of the theory of social quality and the theory of living standards and quality of life, and developed by Russian scientists belonging to the noosphere scientific school have been analyzed.

BackgroundPatients’ reported outcomes and their perspectives around their therapeutic management is a field of continuously increasing relevance in gynecological oncology. We report the results of the Berlin dialog on seven patient-reported parameters and outcomes concerning chemotherapy and maintenance treatment in patients with gynecological cancer.MethodsKey opinion leaders in gynecological oncology from different European counties and representatives of leading patients’ advocate groups in Berlin held a consensus meeting in Berlin on April 6, 2019. Seven topics of interest were identified in advance around quality of life, iatrogenic toxicity, treatment decision-making processes, sexuality, participation in clinical trials, second opinion, and long-term survivors with the the following standard operating procedure for processing and discussion: (1) agreement on its relevance; (2) literature review, and (3) discussion and consensus statements.ResultsAll main topics reached a consensus approval. The defined statements emphasized the importance of patients’ role in incorporating and establishing quality of life as an outcome parameter in clinical trials. Furthermore, discussants raised the importance of identifying new tools for reflecting patient-reported iatrogenic toxicity as well as emphasizing patients’ rights in providing personal information, access to second opinion in the decision-making process, and their participation in clinical trials.ConclusionThe results of this round table meeting could help redefine perspectives on the discussed topics and the importance for therapeutic management as well as for trial designs.

Purpose The purpose of this study was to identify levels of self-compassion in adults who do and do not stutter and to determine whether self-compassion predicts the impact of stuttering on quality of life in adults who stutter. Method Participants included 140 adults who do and do not stutter matched for age and gender. All participants completed the Self-Compassion Scale. Adults who stutter also completed the Overall Assessment of the Speaker's Experience of Stuttering. Data were analyzed for self-compassion differences between and within adults who do and do not stutter and to predict self-compassion on quality of life in adults who stutter. Results Adults who do and do not stutter exhibited no significant differences in total self-compassion, regardless of participant gender. A simple linear regression of the total self-compassion score and total Overall Assessment of the Speaker's Experience of Stuttering score showed a significant, negative linear relationship of self-compassion predicting the impact of stuttering on quality of life. Conclusions Data suggest that higher levels of self-kindness, mindfulness, and social connectedness (i.e., self-compassion) are related to reduced negative reactions to stuttering, an increased participation in daily communication situations, and an improved overall quality of life. Future research should replicate current findings and identify moderators of the self-compassion–quality of life relationship.

Purpose Misophonia is a sound tolerance disorder condition in certain sounds that trigger intense emotional or physiological responses. While some persons may experience misophonia, a few patients suffer from misophonia. However, there is a dearth of literature on audiological assessment and management of persons with misophonia. The purpose of this report is to discuss the assessment of misophonia and highlight the management option that helped a patient with misophonia. Method A case study of a 26-year-old woman with the complaint of decreased tolerance to specific sounds affecting quality of life is reported. Audiological assessment differentiated misophonia from hyperacusis. Management included retraining counseling as well as desensitization and habituation therapy based on the principles described by P. J. Jastreboff and Jastreboff (2014). A misophonia questionnaire was administered at regular intervals to monitor the effectiveness of therapy. Results A detailed case history and audiological evaluations including pure-tone audiogram and Johnson Hyperacusis Index revealed the presence of misophonia. The patient benefitted from intervention, and the scores of the misophonia questionnaire indicated a decrease in the severity of the problem. Conclusions It is important to differentially diagnose misophonia and hyperacusis in persons with sound tolerance disorders. Retraining counseling as well as desensitization and habituation therapy can help patients who suffer from misophonia.
