The article presents the results of a study of the possibilities to improve approaches to generating a report on financial results as an information base for making strategic decisions. It critically analyses the significance of the changes in this report, stipulated by the draft federal accounting standard for the non-state sector “Financial statements of the organization” (FAS FS), which should come into force from 2021. The authors identify and systematize the main changes planned by the FAS FS draft in report on financial results formation, including not only adjusting certain articles, but also improving the approaches to the presentation of a number of indicators. The importance of each of these changes, their positive and negative significance for the persons making strategic decisions is determined; the main problematic and debatable issues to improve the formation of the report on financial results from the perspective of users of the reporting are identified. An example of the form of the report on financial results is provided, aimed at presenting the reliable and understandable information necessary for decision-making users. The results of the study can be useful to a wide range of readers interested in the problems of forming a report on financial results, and can also be applied in the practical work of the accounting departments of organizations, in the educational process of higher educational institutions and in the creation and improvement of relevant regulatory documents on accounting.

Traditional financial indicators calculated from financial statements cannot provide adequate information for the management, do not support strategic decisions. The reason for this is the methodology used in producing financial statements and the operational logic of financial accounting. Financial accounting thinks in terms of business year that is 12 months. It deals with events of the past, more accurately, with so called economic activities. Financial accounting evaluates such economic activities in terms of monetary processes, which means that the traditional financial indicators have their limits in application. Could it mean that traditional financial indicators cannot be used in the long-term strategic decision making? In our study we point out two connections between financial indicators and strategic decision making. Firstly, we focus on financial indicators used in supported strategic decision making, in strategic indicator systems. Secondly, we focus on cases in which financial indicators complement the methods of strategic decision making, add something to the tools available in strategic management.

Aim. Based on the results of multi-year research into the flax gene pool, to form a flax training collection to provide breeding scientific organizations and educational institutions with collection samples as well as with information about the bast crop gene pool. Results and Discussion. The studies were conducted in the crop rotation fields for breeding and seed production of the Institute of Bast Crops of the NAAS (Hlukhiv, Sumska Oblast) in 1992-2018. The field measurements and laboratory analyses were carried out in accordance with conventional methods of field and laboratory studies of collection flax samples. The article presents the results on the formation of a training collection of flax at the Institute of Bast Crops of the NAAS, which has 117 accessions (11 botanical species and three varieties) from 22 countries. In addition to species diversity, the collection includes accessions with different levels of expression of valuable economic and biological characteristics. It also includes accessions selected by phenotypic variability of individual characters or their combinations. The multi-year research into the flax collection accessions resulted in identification of sources of highly-expressed valuable economic traits, which are of interest for the plant breeding course. The history of flax breeding in Ukraine is shown, where breeding varieties that are most widespread or were significant breeding achievements in solving certain problems, are presented. The collection can be used as a visual aid for the plant breeding course in educational programs; in addition, it can provide starting material for scientific and educational institutions. The collection is registered with the National Center for Plant Genetic Resources of Ukraine (certificate No. 00273 dated 04/11/2019). Conclusions. The studies of accessions from the national flax collection allowed us to build up a training collection and register it with the NCPGRU. The collection represents a wide range of biological and economic features of the gene pool of this crop. The collection can be used in the educational process of educational agricultural and biological institutions. The multi-year research into the national flax collection resulted in identification of sources of highly-expressed valuable economic traits, which are of interest to the plant breeding course. The history of flax breeding in Ukraine got covered, and breeding varieties that are most widespread or were significant breeding achievements in solving certain problems are presented.

Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to enhance the knowledge of the antecedents of political behaviour. Whereas political behaviour in strategic decision-making (SDM) has received sustained interest in the literature, empirical examination of its antecedents has been meagre. Design/methodology/approach – The authors conducted a constructive replication to examine the impact of three layers of context, namely, decision, firm and environment, on political behaviour. In Study 1, Greece, we gathered data on 143 strategic decisions, while in Study 2, Egypt, we collected data on 169 strategic decisions. Findings – The evidence suggests that both decision-specific and firm factors act as antecedents to political behaviour, while environmental factors do not. Practical implications – The findings support enhanced practitioner education regarding political behaviour and provide practitioners with a place from which to start by identifying the factors which might influence the occurrence of political behaviour in SDM. Originality/value – The paper fills important gaps in the existing research on the influence of context on political behaviour and delineates interesting areas for further research.

Within the context of housing associations as fluid third sector hybrid organisations, this article examines the dynamics of strategic decision making in relation to diversification into the market rented sector. A convergence of factors shaped an agenda for associations to engage with such commercial activity, crystallising debates about opportunities versus tensions and the remit of organisations. Qualitative research with senior housing association professionals operating in northern England illustrates the significance of external local and internal organisational contexts in making and justifying decisions; this is highlighted within an emergent typology of organisational responses. Depending on interpretation, the interplay between social and financial justifications varied, including legitimising activity within a broader social purpose. The potential for (re)interpreting parameters illustrates the importance of understanding the variety and complexity of interacting dynamics that influence the strategic decisions of third sector hybrid organisations and what they deliver at the local level.

The article is devoted to the study of proper names in the context of such dramatic works by L. N. Razumovskaya, such as the plays “Under One Roof”, “Dear Elena Sergeevna”, “Garden Without Land”, “Maya”, “Home! ..”, “Medea” , "My sister The Little Mermaid." The novelty of the work is that earlier the onomasticon of Russian dramaturgy of the second half of the ΧΧ century, including the plays of L. N. Razumovskaya, was not studied, but meanwhile it occupies a special place and plays an important role both in understanding of theoretical foundations of literary onomastics, and their further development. The paper lists the features of creating and using proper names in the artist’s plays of the word. Here we consider the types and significance of headings, plot and non-plot poem, their status, semantics and functions, especially the use of modifiers in the studied works. The study reflects the results of applying a systematic approach to the classification of proper names functioning in a dramatic text, reveals the cognitive, linguoculturological, paradigmatic, syntagmatic aspects of their analysis, is aimed at identifying the general and individual author's laws of the onymic space (onomastic universals) of the “new wave” dramaturgy using an example of creativity L. N. Razumovskaya. The materials of the article can be used for educational and enlightening purposes in higher and secondary educational institutions - in teaching university courses in lexicology, linguistic analysis of literary text, stylistics, modern Russian literature, as well as special courses and special seminars on onomastics. The results of the study will be of interest to a wide range of teachers and teachers of Russian literature, introducing the modern achievements of philological sciences into the educational process, with the aim of forming students' sustained interest in the Russian language and culture, developing their creative abilities.

Chapter 1 describes Faith in Place’s origins and development within the context of the American environmental movement and with attention to strategic decisions its leaders made to help their organization survive and ultimately flourish. Although Faith in Place originated with priorities, activities, and participants that were quite similar to numerous other environmental groups, Faith in Place’s first ten years involved a series of strategic decisions in which leaders developed measures to differentiate their work from mainstream environmentalism. Strategic decision-making led to a coalition distinct for its racial diversity.

Growing complexity and diversity of strategic decisions indicate the need for applying the appropriate holistic tools in strategic decision making. Thus, the chapter deals with the process of strategic decision making from the viewpoint of critical systems thinking, with emphasis on the role of values and context in strategic decision making. The main purpose is to show how systems thinking generally and critical systems thinking particularly can help decision makers involve different perceptions and values in the process of strategic decision making, as well as take into account context in which the strategic decisions are made. Considering the key internal and external factors affecting strategic decision making, the authors have selected three systems methodologies stemming from different paradigms: soft systems methodology as interpretive, team syntegrity as emancipatory, and organizational cybernetics as functionalist systems methodology. The way in which they can be combined, aimed at improving effectiveness of strategic decision making, has been presented.

Many management scholars believe that the process used to make strategic decisions affects the quality of those decisions. However, several authors have observed a lack of research on the strategic decision-making process. Empirical tests of factors that have been hypothesized to affect the way strategic decisions are made are notably absent (Fredrickson, 1985). This article reports the results of a study that attempts to assess the effects of decision-making circumstances, focusing mainly on the approaches applied and the managerial skills and capabilities the decision makers built on during concrete strategic decisionmaking procedures. The study was conducted in California between September 2005 and June 2006 and it was sponsored by a Fulbright research scholarship grant.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to analyze the use of intuition in successful merger and acquisition (M&A) decisions. M&As are strategic decisions that can create growth, open up new markets and strengthen the company’s position and competence portfolio. Strategic decisions involve, by their very nature, considerable investments and have company-wide and long-lasting implications. At the same time, the decision-makers have access to large amounts of data from various sources, but these data are often uncertain and inaccurate and entail numerous assumptions. Therefore, M&A decisions are only rational to a degree, and emotional elements, such as intuition, likely play a significant role. Design/methodology/approach Acknowledging how critically important, but also how difficult, M&As are, the authors analyzed nine instances (cases) of successful acquisitions, in which the executives believed that the role of intuition was critical. Findings The findings show that intuition in strategic decision-making emerges on three levels: individual, collective and environmental. Practical implications This paper encourages top executives to proactively acknowledge and take advantage of intuition in their strategic decision-making. It proposes a framework to help with these endeavors. Originality/value This paper contributes by highlighting that intuition is not just a factor on an individual level; it can also surface from group interactions as well as the environment. Surprisingly, all the executives interviewed spoke of the positive effects that intuition can have on acquisition decisions. This is in contrast to the dominant view that considers intuition as nonrational and even as a form of bias.
