This paper provides an initial feedback from an intensive, multidisciplinary, and collaborative project implemented in France in higher engineering education through a case study on electric go-kart conception. This kind of project was proposed during 2 successive academic years in collaboration with an industrial partner who is currently a relevant expert in the field. The project consisted in designing, developing, and validating the operation of several electric go-karts within 56 hours of teaching only. Several groups of approximately 10 4th-year university students were involved in this new project-based learning (PBL) approach. This article points out knowledge and skills that the learners had to acquire at the end of the project, and the methods of assessment. In particular, an innovative oral communication based on a theatrical oral session was tested. The various steps in the project development, management, and the interactions with the students, the teachers and the industrial partner are highlighted. Qualitative and quantitative data were extracted from the transcript of grades and the satisfaction surveys. All results demonstrate that the students were encouraged to become active throughout the project. They developed particularly co-operative and collaborative competencies, and critical thinking skills. Although this experience is overwhelmingly positive for the teaching staff, the worse part of the project consisted in developing efficient methods and tools both to organize the project, and evaluate the students’ knowledge and skills. As a consequence, a preparatory phase was absolutely necessary to warrant the success of the project.

This paper aims to describe integrated learning as a learning approach, which is suggested to be applied in order to develop multiliteration and higher order thinking skills. Multiliteration and higher order thinking skills are needed and must be mastered by the community so that they can actively participate in the 21st century civilization. In this context, education or in its operation is learning to be challenged to be able to develop skills. Based on the literature study, it was concluded that to develop multiliteration and higher order thinking skills, one approach that needs to be applied is the integrated learning approach. There are two things that need to be considered in the application of integrated learning. First, the teacher should formulate learning objectives to develop cognitive process skills at levels C2 through C6. Second, in implementing integrated learning, the teacher ideally applies learning models such as: discover, inquiry, problem based learning, project based learning, cooperative learning models, etc.

In an effort to enhance the learning process in higher education, a new model for Competition-Based Learning (CBL) is presented. The new model utilizes two well-known learning models, namely, the Project-Based Learning (PBL) and competitions. The new model is also applied in a networked environment with emphasis on collective learning as well as collective outcomes. The new model, which is referred to as CBL, provides educators with an alternative solution to overcome many of student's deficiencies associated with traditional learning practices; such as lack of motivation, lack of self esteem, insufficient practical and real-life experience, and inadequate team work practices. The new CBL model makes a clear distinction between PBL and competitions and CBL. It avoids the disadvantages of competitions, while at the same time gaining from the many benefits of PBL. Identification features of CBL, components of CBL, as well as advantages are presented. An open source Learning Management System (LMS), namely, Moodle is used for the implementation of a networked environment to support CBL.

This study aimed to determine the effect of project-based learning on student learning outcomes and creative thinking skills in computer numeric control subjects at SMK KAL-1 Surabaya. This study used a quasi-experimental factorial research design with a 2-way ANOVA test technique. In this study, 66 students from class XI of the Mechanical Engineering Expertise Program were divided into experimental groups (n= 33) and a control group (n= 33). The instrument used in this research is in the form of test sheets and observations to measure the level of students creative thinking and their learning outcomes. This study found that student learning outcomes using project-based learning are significantly higher than students who taught using direct learning models in computer numeric control subjects. Furthermore, the learning outcomes of students who have a high level of creative thinking are significantly higher than those of students who have a low level of creative thinking. Moreover, there is an interaction between using learning models and creative thinking on three domains of learning outcomes (cognitive, affective, and psychomotor) in computer numeric control subjects.

As bots become more prevalent and smarter in the modern age of the internet, it becomes ever more important that they be identified and removed. Recent research has dictated that machine learning methods are accurate and the gold standard of bot identification on social media. Unfortunately, machine learning models do not come without their negative aspects such as lengthy training times, difficult feature selection, and overwhelming pre-processing tasks. To overcome these difficulties, we are proposing a blockchain framework for bot identification. At the current time, it is unknown how this method will perform, but it serves to prove the existence of an overwhelming gap of research under this area.
