The study aims at knowing the use of technology in teaching learning process of pre-service teachers of English Study Program of Universitas PGRI Semarang. The subjects of the study are the eight semester students which are Pre-service teachers of the English Study Program of Universitas PGRI Semarang in the academic year 2018/2019. The instrument used in the study is questionnaire. The techniques used in the study are sharing the questionnaire to the eight semester students through WhatsApp to know what kinds of technology used by them are and interview to know how their perception of the use of technology in teaching learning process is. The qualitative data are analyzed by reducing the data, classifying the data and drawing conclusion. The result of the study shows that Pre-service teachers tend to use same kinds of technology in teaching learning process, and they have an opinion that technology is really important for the teachers and for students.

The aim of the research was to describe the learning atmosphere during the implementation of “Snakes and Ladders” in teaching Speaking. Besides, the research was also designed to know how the improvement of the students’ Speaking skill during the implementation of “Snakes and Ladders”. This research was a classroom action research. The participants of this research were 27 second semester students of English Study Program at STAIN Bengkalis. This research was conducted in two cycles by following the procedure of action research, i.e. planning, implementing, observing, and reflecting. In collecting the data, the researcher used observation, questionnaire, and test. The lecturer was the researcher assisted by collaborator as observer. The questionnaire was given to the students before and after the implementation of “Snakes and Ladders”. The tests were in the form of pre-test, post-test 1 and post-test 2. The data were analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively. The qualitative data were analyzed using Interactive Model of Data Analysis as propounded by Matthew M. Miles and A.M. Huberman. The results of the research showed that the learning atmosphere also improved. The class became more active and confident. Furthermore, “Snakes and Ladders” was able to improve the students’ Speaking Skill. It was proven by the increase of the students’ mean score from 41.16 in pre-test to 46.21 in cycle 1, and 48.98 in cycle 2, although the results of the research were just a little bit improvement. It could be concluded that the use of “Snakes and Ladders” has proven to be an effective way in teaching-learning of Speaking Skill on Second Semester of English Study Program at STAIN Bengkalis.

The purpose of this study is to find out whether the triple P model can Improve the students' speaking skills. This research is a Classroom Action Research which applied to the students of English Language and Literature Study Program of Sawerigading University the academic year of 2016/2017. During the learning process, students are taught using ‘Triple P’ model. This model includes three activities; presentation, practice and production. In general it can be concluded that this model could motivate the students to speak confidently in the classroom and showed the improvement of students’ creativity on teaching learning process, their ability to express their own ideas, and their ability to interact or communicate with their friends.

This study was aimed to improve student’s ability in writing short funcional text congratulation and complimenting using picture sequences at X MA Nurulhidayah Batujajar in the academic year of 2018/2019 as the subject of the study consists 32 students. This study was conducted for two months.The CAR was done based on Kurt Lewins’ design. The writer did two cycles which each cycle consists with planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. For data were gathered through qualitative and quantitative. The qualitative data were gained by analyzing the interview and observation result, while quantitative data were obtained from the students’ writing score of pretest and posttest.The finding of this study showed that there was improvement on the student’s ability in writing short funcional text congratulation and complimenting using picture sequences. It can be seen from the mean score of pretest was 56.75. Then, the mean score of posttest cycle 1 was 66.37 and the mean score of posttest cycle 2 was 72.62. so the criteria of success was achieved. from the result of questionnaire, it showed that there was improvement of positive responses in the teaching-learning process of writing short funcional textcongratulation and complimenting. Related to the result of observation and interview, it can be concluded that the students’ ability in writing short funcional texcongratulation and complimenting using picture sequences improved and the students’ were motivated in the teaching-learning process.

The objectives of this research are to know the techniques used by the teacher in SLB Dharma Bhakti Dharma Pertiwi to teach English for speech impaired students, and to know how the techniques influence the students learning achievement. The research was done at SLB Dharma Bhakti Dharma Pertiwi in tenth and eleventh grade class in speech impaired class that consisted of 7 and 6 students. Data gathering was done by doing observation and interview to two teachers from ten and eleventh class. The results show that both teachers used mixed techniques in teaching English for speech impaired students. The teacher used some techniques like demonstration, repetition, and discussion. Demonstration can be done by showing pictures, using tools and touching the under part of the chin to teach pronunciation. Repetition can be done by repeating the words for many times to make the students remember. Discussion can be done by asking them questions to make the students active in the class. Some techniques were appropriate to improve students learning achievement but, there was a technique also that did not have a big impact in improving students learning achievement. By doing this research, it will help us to determine techniques in teaching speech impaired students. We know which technique that can help us to improve students learning achievement. It will help the students to get a better teaching learning process if we already know how to teach them.

Development in technology assists teachers and educators to reach goals in teaching and learning easily. Along with advancement of technology in teaching, teachers were expected to utilize this technology such as ICT-based media to improve quality of their teaching. This paper was a survey research which tried to investigate attitudes and perceptions of 73 elementary school teachers toward the use of ICT-based media especially video in teaching learning process. Both quantitative and qualitative data were used to display teachers’ perception. The result of this study shows that almost all teachers considered that using media is very important in teaching. The data from questionnaires shows that most teachers (95,1%) agreed that ICT-based media made teaching and learning process more enjoyable and effective. They also believed that the role of media together with teacher is essential in teaching since the collaboration between teachers and media allow students to understand and memorize materials given easily. However, besides teachers responded positively toward ICT-based media, they also encountered some barriers in applying this technology in teaching, such as : teachers lacked the skills or basic concepts about ICT, (felt were old enough) to use ICT based-media in the future, lacked of eyes vision, inconvenience feeling of using ICT in the classroom, and lacked of ICT facilities at school. This indicates that professional development program is essential for teachers to promote the use of technology in daily teaching practices.

This article is made to meet teacher teaching needs in using technology, especially in social media. For now, we are faced with Pandemic Covid-19 and also teachers continue to be demanded to be more careful in choosing the right technology when teaching online. This type of research is the method library research.This article is literature based in which the data and information were gathered from the book, internet postings, journal, etc. Technology includes the use of materials,  tools, techniques and sources of power to make life easier . In education , Technology are really able to improve the teaching and leraning process.

AbstractThe objectives of this study were to examine the students’ perception on the use of picture in writing descriptive paragraph and to investigate whether the students were interested in the use of picture in writing descriptive paragraph. This study was a survey using the qualitative and survey design. It involved 34 students of English Teaching Study Program, Christian University of Indonesia. To achieve the objectives, qualitative and quantitative data concerning the students’ perceptions and interest were collected through a questionnaire and interview. The survey was administered to the eight semester students of 2012/2013 academic year. To support this research the data obtained through the open ended questionnaire, interview was conducted toward four students. The quantitative data were analyzed by using Microsoft Excel 2007, while the qualitative data were analyzed descriptively. The result of this study indicated that almost all of the students agreed to use the picture in developing their descriptive paragraph writing. The use of picture in writing also helped them understand the descriptive paragraphs even though they knew there was another media, i.g. realia, which could help them write a descriptive paragraph. Thus it is sugested that the English teachers should use this technique to improve students’ descriptive paragraph writing. Keywords: perception, picture, writing, descriptive paragraph

The utterances produced by people have speech acts, especially in the English teaching learning process. One of them is directive speech acts. Thus, this study aimed at identifying the directive speech acts and its functions in teaching vocabulary of the eight grade students of MTs Husnul Khatimah in the academic year 2011-2012. This study was carried out under a descriptive qualitative method. The data of this study were taken from the eighth grade students. The sample of the study was 30 students. The writers conducted the study in one meeting when the class was studying vocabularies in a recount text. The data were collected by recording the utterances produced by the teacher and the students. Then, the writer transcribed the record of the data. It was analyzed by identifying directive speech acts of the utterances and describing the functions of the directive speech acts. The writers found that there are twenty directives speech acts during the teaching learning process. All of them are imperatives or commands. The teacher uttered twenty-three orders to the students, while the students uttered one request to the teacher. The teacher directive speech acts have functions as a command, permission, prohibition and encouragement to the students.

This study aimed at developing English materials using ESP approach for the first semester students of al-Qur’an and Tafsir Study Program at IAIN Palangka Raya in academic year 2018/2019. In this study, the model of materials development proposed by Sugiyono (2013:298) was adapted with the following steps: need assessment, reference of the research, development of English materials using ESP approach, expert validation, revision, try-out of the materials, revision, and final product. The instruments used consisted of questionnaire, observation, and interview. The data gathered was analyzed and described qualitatively. The students’ need based on the result of questionnaire was English materials using ESP approach. Considering that result, the English materials using ESP approach were developed and tried in 8 meetings. The data collected from try-out showed that the developed materials were applicable to the teaching-learning process and appropriate with the students’ need. Furthermore, the students responded positively toward the developed materials. They were active, motivated, and enthusiastic in doing the activities of the developed materials. English materials using ESP approach in the form of a textbook divided into eight units were the product of this study. The topics were Prayer, Fasting, Zakat, Muamalat, Food in Islamic Law, Property Right in Islamic Law, Inheritance in Islamic Law, and al-Qur’an and Science. The textbook was also supplemented with a list of vocabularies section, a list of regular verbs section, and a list of irregular verbs section.

The main focus of this study is boosting students’ speaking ability by using mingle music technique. The data were taken from  the second semester students of English Language  Study program of STKIP Persada Khatulistiwa Sintang , in Academic  Year 2018/2019 which consisted of  22 students. A classroom action research design was employed in this research. In collecting the data, researchers used observation checklist, field note, and interview The research was conducted in two cycles, where in each cycle consisted of 1 meeting. It took 150 minutes for 3sks.The result showed that the students’ involvement in teaching learning process  improved from cycle 1 to cycle 2.Mingle music technique engaged the students to be more active in the classroom. It enable the students to have more practises in speaking with diffrent students and material. It can be concluded that the implementation of mingle music technique succeeded boosting students’ speaking ability.Keywords: Mingle Music Technique, Students’ Speaking Ability.
